Day 22
Delilah was complaining about the light being too strong, so I moved her down off the wood. She also seems to need a bit more calmag in her feeds.
Dolores' newest growth seems a bit better, but her existing leaves are still turning grey. The grey is spreading more slowly now though, so I think the BTI is working.
I also don't see any more adult gnats, so maybe that problem is on it's way out the door.

I have two seeds in peat pucks now. If I manage to get Delilah and Dolores turned around I'll flip them all at the same time, keeping the two new ones in one gallon fabric pots. If I get Delilah turned around, then I might do some strategic pruning to slow her down a bit so they can catch up.
If I don't manage to get either Delilah or Dolores back to a healthy state we'll move forward with those two seeds. One of them is another Do si dos from WSE as I definitely want to grow that strain this winter.

Thanks Shed!

Nope. I just found out it's probably covid.
The people who I could have caught it from both tested positive today.
By the way, there's research that shows that higher estrogen not only makes it less likely that women will catch colds or the flu, but that it lessens the severity of the symptoms. The man flu is real!

Thanks Krissi!

Hope you feel better soon my friend. :high-five:

Day 23
The new seeds have popped, but haven't really broken the surface yet. I'm not sure what's going t happen there since the jiffy pods got a little drier than I usually let them.
Dolores' issues don't seem to be affecting her newer growth on the side branches, even the ones that no longer have fan leaves to take the damage for them, so she may be on the road to recovery. Time will tell.
Delilah is still doing fine. I'm thinking I'll either have to top her at some point to slow her down, or I'll have to flip her first by preparing a dark space. Both have problems, but not insurmountable ones.

Thanks Bill, I'm feeling a lot better today. Just a sore throat and a cough.
Hey y’all.. new thread called “ first gro “ he could use some of your expertise.. check it out
Here's a link.
Oh I know babe.

I see it. Nurse it. Live it.

Be strong. I’m sending you thoughts and prayers.
Thanks Tra!

Hey Mel thanks for checking in on “ first gro” I sure any info will help , I don’t always comment on your thread because I have very little knowledge on the indoor science, tried it back in the 90’s ,, big old 1000w HPS with limited success.. no doubt there’s a science to it.. But I am always watching and trying to absorb,, may give it another try someday, with the new LED ..

Going from outdoor to indoor is a little tricky at times. There are things that outdoor plants don't even notice that will make indoor plants stunt or even die.
I've always preferred outdoor, but I just don't feel right without something growing.
I don't use supersoil, but as I understand it you can make it through and entire indoor grow with a 15 gallon pot of it without having to feed the plants once (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
I've thought about going with a supersoil or LOS/TLO grow, but I just don't have the space to store the amendments right now.

Glad you are on the mend Mel. Dolores' uppers seem to be taking on that darker hue. Is that a trick of the light or are the uppers becoming affected too? Sorry about the covid but it sounds mild in your case.

I chuckled a bit on the (Just Don’t feel rite) Ya it’s almost a lonely feeling,,can’t wait for March,Get the seeds going
I'll be starting later next season. As much as I love having huge plants outdoors, they were just a bit too big this time. I'd like a slightly more relaxed grow next summer.

Thanks Carmen.
Yes, Dolores' uppers are discoloured, but it's moving a lot slower. Earlier one set of leaves that were mostly unaffected one day were almost completely done for within 24 hours.
I'll be looking through the pics on my computer later, but the growth on the side branches looks healthy.
Her roots have now reached the bottom of the one gallon pot, only a few days later than Delilah. So I am hoping we've taken care of the main problem and that what's happening now is from damage that was already done. It can take days for damage to appear or resolve in soil.
Yeah, it does seem to be a mild case, it just saps my energy pretty quickly. I'm taking it easy right now.

Day 24
So as mentioned above, Dolores' side branches are continuing to put out healthy growth. I am cautiously optimistic about that.
Delilah is growing well now. I'm still considering pruning her to slow her down a bit. It would be nice if she and Dolores were more even in size when I flip them. I'll have to wait until Dolores is showing more healthy growth before I flip them though. Hopefully it won't take too much longer.
I'm pretty sure the seeds are pooched. I neglected them when I got sick, so they got drier than they should have. I should know for sure tomorrow or the day after.

My suggestion: cut those dead leaves! They give me anxiety just looking at them lol.

The way you guys hang on to your leaves like they are family heirlooms. Soon as mine show the slightest signs of bleurgh in Veg they are gone!

Cut them!

CUT THEM!

CUT THEMMMMMMM!

You know, I actually did just that a couple of hours ago, lol!
You'll see when I post pics this evening.

Sorry you're sick, Mel. I have Covid, too and for me, it's the taste thing and the tiredness that are doing me in. Here's hoping we both start feeling better soon.

So, did you figure out why the leaves were turning brown/bronze?

Thanks HG, I'm almost over it, just the sore throat and random fatigue left now.
I don't have a solid reason for why it happened, but I still think it was an issue with the roots. I also don't think it's a coincidence that the fungus gnats disappeared as the issue was easing off. Dolores seems to be perking up, so I'm just going to sit back a bit and let things settle down a bit.
Yeah - the fatigue is surprising!!! My only left over is plugged feeling in my ears and loss of hearing.
Hope you guys mend up soon!!! :thumb:
Thanks GJ, that plugged up feeling in the ears really did suck!

Hope both of you are feeling better soon!

Day 25
I'm planning to break my own rules and trim off some leaves from these plants.
I really don't want to leave them there this time. I would like to get some more light down to those lower branches, especially since they're healthier. I think they'll be more efficient from a photosynthesis standpoint, and I'm not worried about them being slowed down much.
I also topped Delilah since I do want to flip them both at the same time. I'll give her some time to recover before I trim off any fan leaves.

It's a tricky one Mel, take the leaves going bad off or leave them on so the plant can get the mobile nutrients, but if there is disease then blah blah, it is tricky, and if there are root issues that doesn't help. Anyway, looks better trimmed off. Hopefully all good now.

Day 26
Nothing has really changed since yesterday. Delilah will need a drink tomorrow, and I'm hoping Dolores will too, but I don't think she will.
I'm also getting a new phone. It says it has a 50mp camera, so we'll (eventually) see if I can take better trichome pics with it without needing a loupe.

Yeah, I don't usually remove them until the plant is ready to drop them. When the leaf comes off just from the pressure of you gripping it (I believe that's called abcission). Usually that's the last step of the plant recovering what it can take. The ones I have taken off were already crispy without the plant having the opportunity to remove the nutrients.
Right now I'm thinking of taking some of the fan leaves off to get light to the side branches. I'm not sure though, as it does reduce photosynthesis, and if you're having nutrient issues it can let those issues through to the new growth you're trying to stimulate.
I'm still not sure I have the nutrients sorted properly for Delilah. Dolores' damaged leaves aren't going to recover, but the newer ones are doing better, so I'll see if there's an increase in her growth rate. I may not really need to slow Delilah down anyway.
That's enough waffling for tonight though, lol.
I'll make a decision and charge ahead without thinking it through later.

Have a great night everyone!

What kind of phone? Felonious just got the Google Pixel and loves it!

Delilah looks good. I'm considering her partly mine as I came up with the name. :battingeyelashes:

I tend to pull off ugly leaves because I don't like how they look. However, if it only has a few leaves, and if it's not spreading, I may be inclined to leave them on until they're a little bigger.

Day 27
I was right about Delilah needing water, and Dolores being good for another day or two.
Delilah got a full feeding, and there is more ready for Dolores.

Samsung A13. I'm going to go into the camera settings as soon as I have it to see what it can do. 50 megapixels is way better than the camera I'm using now, lol!
Delilah is doing much better now, but I think I'll be taking those 4 big fans off soon. I tucked one set, but the top ones are still there until the top two shoots are well established.
I don't usually remove leaves unless I have to, or if I think they're blocking more photosynthesis than they're performing themselves. This time I feel like it's the right thing to do for the plants. I'm going to wait to flip until Dolores looks a bit healthier, so there's some time for the lower leaves to grow in, as long as they're getting enough light.

Have a great evening!
