McLoadie's Third Grow Journal

I'm Happy That you are happy with the grow so far and I hope you are feeling better:thumb:

24 days since the flip.......They look ok, still not quite dialed in. Mag deficiency, slight, and I will keep trying. When I switched to R/o water, I got an increase in "the claw", which tells me I'm on the right track as this shows nutes being unlocked....the whole point of switching to it in the first place!

Doubles or photos out of order...you get the idea! The clones are off the hook and are gonna run out of space, instead of rushing the plants in flower I'll empty the veg room if I have to, to accommodate the next run. What I mean is I'll take the cabinet out so I can get more vertical space.

Just a note, while my internet was down I was reading Cervantes. He was talking about containers and I came across an interesting portion, he stated that one can "run their finger around the perimeter of a std. nursery pot to seal the space where the soil meets the plastic to avoid the air pocket that forms between the pot and the soil as the soil dries and pulls away from the pot". This is the same way I was taught in school........not the pot or the soil per se, but the fact that if roots dry out.......even for a very short time they will die.....or air pruned....I was trained that air pruning was ALL BAD. If I have roots around the perimeter of the pot.....I feel like everything's good...........I don't want my plants spending energy....when the roots turn back in toward the center of the pot, if this actually happens.....which so far I see no evidence of this occurring, when using the smarties of course. I like a plain old black plastic nursery pot.....that's how we rolled commercially....it was the best method available.

Spimp commented on this post in his journal and I realized that I had some air pockets during my second transplanting. So I pushed the soil down at the edges to try to take up the void between the old soil and new soil when transplanting. You would think that water would carry soil down into those spaces but it wasn't in my case.

Just when I think I know all I need to know... I learn something new :) Thanks McLoadie for bringing this up.

A lot of people using R/O add cal/mag to the water. Not sure if it makes a difference for soil vs. hydro

Now scar, you will get a look inside my lonely brain cell. These plants were previously given my calcified tap water....all the way up til today, so I'm thinking there has to be a build up of calcium in the soil. So, I'm treating with Epsom until I think the calcium is leached out of the soil.....if I ever think that. The water here is so bad it will ruin drinking glasses......coffee pots, ect.. If you filled a salad bowl with water...and let it evaporate, you could chop a coupla big fat calcium rails...LOL....it's that bad. These plants are real close to dialed in......If I don't get it perfect this run....hopefully I will on the next, something has to happen, I KNOW I can do better!

Good morning weed MC. Your girls are looking very nice. you have a very good handle on the health of your plants. :goodjob: Hope you are feeling better this Sativaday.

Looking good mc. I have to go back and look at what light your flowering under?? By the looks of that strain and the size of those pots I would run some netting over those badgirls. They look really good and branchy and a net might give you better results. They look really nice though and I hope they exceed your expectations.

have a good one bro.

Thanks shotta, you know, I have given this induction light a helluva run.......I had faith in it in the beginning.......but I think it's time to move on. I have a mind to run two 600hps side by side and vent through a wall to the dryer vent. When it came down to it when I did the side by side with 600hps, the hps didn't put out that much heat.....and it could have been vented better. I would like to connect the two hps in the center......run flex to the wall, with the blower, and both ballasts completely outside the room. 1200 watts in that small space should give me good results............a light is no good to me if it wont produce.......what I save in operating costs......I lose more in production. I should be able to pull a pound with 1200 watts............what do you think?
