McBudz Perpetual Journal

awesome as always my friend. . . i want to hear which ones smoke the best!!

no chicken look-a-likes i see, but I think you could put this one outside of a dispensary spinning like a barber pole, just mesmerizing people to come in. . . lol, it would work on me!

:rollit::thumb:

I will let you know in a few weeks when I get them cured. I dont like smokey early bud. PE and BW have very distinct aroma's so far. Cant wait to see how they taste and what the effects are.

Slapping Lips.....Baba Booey....Look at that Cola!

I'll second what Wheel said. I've been staring at that shot for the last 3 mins. You have a wet weight on that beast?

The clones look incredible also, can't wait to see how they fill out.

CAP rules! ;-)

SF

Nah didnt weight the wet stuff, dont want my scale getting all icky lol. I hope these clones bring me to my max potential yield in my space. May have to wait for Moby Dick to do that, looks like it treated some very well in that dept. Thanks

You deliver man. Nice looking buds.

:peace:

Thanks abberation!

Mcbudz what color were the trichs when u chopped, and what day in flower if you remember.

BTW:bravo::nicethread::welldone::thumb::bravo::bravo:

Trichs were slightly different across the board. The rocklock was mostly cloudy, I'm sure she could have gone a bit longer Bu I needed the area to move my clones into. Gots to keep the production line going. nemesis, PE and BW we all close to 50/50 cloudy / amber. Nemesis was the stickiest by far. very gooey plant. Plants were in flower 8 weeks exactly

Great haul Mcbudz! What do you do with your LST work throughout flowing? We are going 24 straight darkness and switching to flower tonight, but wondering if we should let of LST work go loose or continue to tie and pull leaves around? Im guessing still tie down somewhat but wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks!

Ok sweet this saturday will be exactly 8 weeks in flower, I'm growing skunk #1 and blueberry. The blueberry should be 1st to chop...........

Some great outcome you gots going on my friend McBudz. The resin seems to be glistening in those pics huh? :bravo:

Pics don't really do it justice. Some cameras can really get the trichs to sparkle but I havent found the right settings yet on this new camera. I seriously had to do some close inspections at times while trimming becasue I thought for sure I was looking at mold it was so white and fuzzy. But it wasnt its just laden with sticky trichs.

Also today I gave my colas a squeeze that have been drying for a day now and most have a bit of a spongy feel as I've come to expect but the nemesis are quit solid still. really excited to see how these cure.

OK here so glistening shots of my 4 week 5 dayers..

Here are Nemesis clones from the same mom as all the new clones in my tent are from.

Good and bad I think. Very Very frosty but buds have less mass then other plants in the group. I know these 2 clones from that mom rooted last in the cloner and went to veg with a much smaller root mass than most others..

The fortunate thing is just about all the clones to the right that just went into flower vegged a while and had very well development root systems. Hopefully that makes the difference.

Once again you do it again. Mcbud how did you know that the PE would flower in 8 weeks because G13 labs (if I remember) didn't say how long the flowering time would be. How much you think hyou yielded too? Oh yeah how's that Chocolope mom coming along?

I guessed :) I only had the 1 free seed and I need to make an even 12 plants so I threw it in there. The PE itself did not / will not yield too much. an ounce maybe if I'm lucky. All together I'm hoping for 16 ounces or more which I was able to do easily with GWS in this setup. These plants I'm not so sure, they seem to be more connoisseur like in they produce magnificently frosty buds but not monsters. The 1 Rocklock was good sized though. I'm thinking 13-16 ounces with my hopes set at 16 or higher obviously.

Chocolope mom is just a wee baby at the moment. her and the Strawberry Blue are just out of the soil. Will be more time before we can take cuttings from them.

I'd be checking the cloudy/amber ratio of trichromes BEFORE chopping the ladies down on exactly day 56.

I'm pretty sure that Skunk #1 flowers 9 weeks by most accounts, and Blueberry takes as long as 10.

Wait another week or two, and monitor them closely every day. Make sure to take some stills to note the swelling of the buds once you cut off their water and nute supply.
[Of course, I'm stating this not on my experiences(becuz Ima bout to chop my ladies in a few weeks to complete my 1st grow), but I have a close buddy of mine for 25 years that's been supplyin 50% of the dispensaries in Arcata. After talking with him, I've picked up a few things.]

Anyway, McBudz, dude, those colas are f*cking HUGE bro!!! What the F*ck!? How'd they get that damn big?
I have a question for you, or anybody for that matter:
When a grower gets a Cooltube and an Inline Fan for it, is the fan supposed to blow air over it or suck hot air off of it???

I just follow the instructions on the bottle ;)

Suck or blow makes no difference really on an open ventilation system like a cooltube. Just make sure you push or suck that hot air out of the area. My setup actually "sucks" or pulls air over my lights through A/C relfectors, same effect as a cool tube.

When it comes to resistance like putting a carbon filter in the mix I feel it is best to suck through the carbon filter as the air hits the larger surface area of the filter first. Just my own logic.

:bravo:

Really nice harvest. And the way you're settling in to your perpetual is so nice and smooth. You make it look so easy. The decisions made 3-4 months ago are really paying off nicely for you.

BTW as far as push/pull through a filter - most inline fans are made to overcome more resistance on the intake. If you block the out with a filter they work a little less efficiently, and some fans, like a squirrel fan basically won't work at all. Also, the white outer layer of a carbon filter is designed to grab big things and dramatically increase the lifetime of the carbon inside. If you blow through it, instead of suck through it, then the air hits the carbon first. Will still work just as well but you cut the lifetime of the filter down dramatically - some say 50%. Also if you do this, you should take the white outer layer off for better airflow.

Big props on your first harvests from your new setup, and thanks again for the classes in how it should be done.

:thankyou::nicethread::welldone:

I agree with you guys on the filter (hook it up to the intake side of the fan so it sucks the air through the filter) on the same reasoning given by Papa Green.

As for the lights though, I would push, not pull. I am assuming it is a fully ducted system, with outside air going through duct, through the light, then back through duct again to outside. In that situation, the exhaust can be quite warm. Those inline fan motors are cooled by the air passing through the fan. I imagine having one pull that hot air through itself would reduce it's lifespan a bit. It would still work, mind you (unless the air is really hot) but I think you will get more longevity from pushing.

Also, that means the ducting can maintain positive pressure, so that if there are leaks, you are leaking fresh air in and not stinky air out. Also, if the air is leaking into the room, you will feel it with your hands if you check, and then you can seal it with tape. If instead it leaks into the ducting you can't do that.

I'm stoned. Sorry if I wandered too far afield. I know I just recently said so, but your buds look amazing McBudz.

Thanks that makes sense. Everything is till cool to the touch in my setup though. So it may be warm air but I don't feel likes its raising the temp of the fan too much. Maybe one of these days I'll try flipping it around.

Yes, it pushes cool air. I have a hygrometer with an 'outside' electrode-type thing that comes off a 2 foot long wire that has an accurate temp/humidity reading, sitting at top cola height. It reads 83-84 REGARDLESS of if I have the inline fan(which is 8 inches and blows 735 CFM's) blowing over the sealed HPS Cooltube, on or not. I feel the warm/hot air coming out of the ducting, and no leaks in the tent. I have a big fan (24-inch)pumping in cool air from inside our condo, and 1 10-inch and 1 6-inch hanging on bungee cords inside the tent aimed at the tops of the plants & just under the lights and a space heater set to 80 degrees sitting on the floor, which rarely comes on during lights on except in the first few minutes.

So I turned the inline fan off and have been saving $$$$ in the meantime...:headbang:
Any ideas McBudz, on why this isn't cooling the temp down further? Or anybody else? Thanks for the help too. MUCH appreciated. It's cool when 420-cool people on this site help one another and oblige with no hatred of any kind.
I love this thread McBudz! :peacetwo: :peace: :allgood::thankyou:

Mcbud how long from seed or clones do you wait to start taking cuttings from a mother plant. I tried to search but didn't find it; you say that you have (2) 600 watters and (1) 400 watter in your tent. Do you have 12 plants on each side of the tent equaling 24 totals plants? I'm just trying to figure out how many plants you have under (1) 600 watter.

Regarding my setup yes 12 sites per side and I run 600 - 400 - 600 in the tent. The 400 just filles the gap. I have run 3 x 600's but with heat and elec. I just feel its fine to run a 400 in the middle and use that 200 watts elsewhere.

As far as taking cuttings.. you need the plant to have suitable branches to cut from. The idea is to leave at least 1 node behind on the branch you cut from so it regenerates 2 new branches from the node. Otherwise its a single use mom. If you need 12 cuttings then you need to let the mom plant grow enough to have 12 suitable site to cut from and still leave nodes for regrowth.

LST a mom from early on and you will get more even distribution of clones sites.

I'll take some pics of my mothers later when I get back online with some closeups of what I'm rambling about. :peacetwo:

Its the radiant heat coming off the light through the cool tube glass. You have light beams bouncing around inside your tent keeping it warm. Kind of like when the sun shines in your windows and warms up the room beyond the temperature it is outside. Only way to really bring down the temp more is to counter act with even cooler air. Like 60F would help bring it down some but may not be practical. If you can stay in the low 80's you are doing ok. Only time I'm ever under 80 is dead of winter below 30F and my window is open. Its really strain specific I feel. Some are more sensitive to higher temps.

My Nemesis mom that seriously needs to be trimmed. Since I'm trying different moms she's not getting regular 1 month hair cuts. Cuttings that are too thick can work against you too. may take longer to root and even longer to develop enough roots to support its size.
