MassMedMan's Spring Fling - Indoor/Outdoor - Organic - Medical - 6 Autos

Been looking into that alfalfa hay and it seems like it'll be good to go. I've read talk about using it in the soil, but it breaks down hot from what I read and I'm not experimenting there. Probably will add some to next year's compost pile I'm building now. But, I've even stumbled upon some info about an alfalfa tea. And I'm looking at this bag and I notice some product settling, some alfalfa hay powered looking stuff,, and I have a tea brewing, giving it to my soil for this grow tomorrow.... wondering if I should drop some of that powered hay into my tea.. wondering out loud of anyone cares to chime in... ;)

Other than that I'm scrubbing my tent and hitting my bong. ;)

Absolutely. You have the alfalfa powder in the bag so why not add it?

Thanks, you folks rock! And Dutty, I'm after your mediocre,, that's my goal. I used to shoot for the top, but I'm happy with your mediocre. ;) much love to you my friend. Lil wabbit hay going in now........

That alfalfa should make excellent mulch. The scraps can be made into teas for sure!

Dutty talking about mediocre plants lol.

Alfalfa contains triacontanol. This is an excellent natural growth stimulant. I mentioned this a while back in another journal, was met with crickets lol.

1-Triacontanol is a fatty alcohol of the general formula C30H62O, also known as melissyl alcohol or myricyl alcohol. It is found in plant cuticle waxes and in beeswax. Triacontanol is a growth stimulant for many plants, most notably roses, in which it rapidly increases the number of basal breaks.

In all seriousness, the best ones are humble. That's why I like you DP. Humble, honest, and dedicated to the craft, that is what I aspire to be...

This tea is hopping now...lol. I know I'm cheesy but the pic helped, you just can't see it hopping.

Back to scrubbing, wax on, wax off

My regular schedule of teas and drenches includes the weekly malted barley grain tea with kelp, aloe and fulvic acid added. Once every six weeks or so it's advised to replace the barley with alfalfa meal for the additional nutrients only available from alfalfa, nutrients that are tremendously valuable to the soil community. So adding it to your tea is a good thing.

That's great info, Sue. I'm like a sponge right now when it comes to organic. One question I have for you since I have you, I have lots of stems from last year's outdoor grow in a brown paper bag. Plus I have most of the non sugar leaves from this year's grow curing in a box.

Should I add them to my mulch? I've got a good amount, maybe add them periodically also with teas and ewc toppings?

I could get some oil out of them, but it's really not worth my time and if it benefits my LOS then it's a no brainer.

Thank you!!!

An excellent idea. Then they get to complete the cycle of life and contribute to the larger community.

Thanks for confirmation, Sweetsue!

Was just over at the build a soil site and placed an order. This should be it. Got some; coconut water powder; aloe powder; malted barley grain; and Bio Ags ful power, and finally I gave in and ordered the five gallon compost tea brewer.

I could have made that, but I have a lot going on this spring and I don't want to mess with it.

So, I think I'm done ordering.

Awesome stuff! How exciting!! Your girls are gonna love you!!

Question for you though big guy, I'm running my reveg and I'm going to do SCROG. Was just wondering what'sthe time to start the SCROG. Then when's the right time to switch it flower? For a photo hop over to my thread. Took one yesterday.... You're my main man and I have to ask you first :)

Looking great over there. Sent you a pm. It seems you have found some great sources of info. Soon you will just be able to go with your gut and grow great lush plants, thanks to our friend the SFW. Alfalfa is excellent and powerful stuff. Keep that in mind. I need to dig deeper for the reasoning, but I've read over and over to be careful with alfalfa in flower. And that an alfalfa tea is excellent for vegging plants. I did one kelp/alfalfa tea during veg, the plants respond well.

Anyway, congrats on a great start!

You should start training and tucking your plants through the net while they are still in Vegetative state. Most people aim for 60-75% of their net covered in Veg, and then hit the flip. Some people continue to tuck while Stretch is taking course, and others opt to let them grow straight up from that point, it really depends on what kind of colas you're looking for.

Here are some Scrogs that inspired me :

HunterNitro's Papaya
HunterNitro's White Rhino/LSD/VBA

Those are two of the most recent I have followed, IceMud, OttawaGreen and all sorts of other members have had just as successful ScrOG's as well. My net worked out great, you can check it out in my first journal if you want. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks for helping out Max! MrPigeons,, in addition to the folks Max mentioned,, go to COfinest YouTube channel. Be warned, you may be there for a while. I spent a night there. He's got a lot of good videos and commentary on SCROGs. Good luck buddy, love me some SCROG!!

Man I've been there!! Spent way to much time. Hats of to CO for his patience and willingness to share! It wasn't just a few years ago, people were very tight lipped in terms of how to grow cannabis and the "tricks" of the trade, if you will. But it's guys like CO that have really put a new face on the game.... And for the better!

DEFINITELY agree with this.

Like I said, there are hundreds of people on this Journal who are masters of the ScrOG, Cofinest is an awesome example.

I'm always impressed with the amount of knowledge sharing that goes on here. Very impressed. And it also drives me to reach the point where I can give back

Exactly how I feel my friend.... I have had so many knowledgeable and experienced growers help me out in the short time I have been here, it makes me so excited to give all of that information back to someone who needs it.

This site really is a treasure trove of useful information and genuine growers, everyone is welcome and no one is left behind from what I can see :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley:
