Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I was thinking about going with the 900watt mars2 and then supplement missing parts of spectrum with 4 t5s in the corners of the tent

I'm a bit confused about the missing parts of the spectrum thing. Would adding some aquarium blue lights for veg and some T5s for flower actually work? If so, what strength lights?

I've got a feeling i'd just end up buying things that were not powerful enough to make a difference to the 1200w i'm ordering!

:)

That's my issue for everything I read on LED missing parts of the spectrum I read something contradicting what I first read. I figure if I get a 900 or 1200 watt led an supplement with a t5 it will be better. But idk just read so much different stuff all the time.

BID, I read a lot of your journal with TOPLED and jumped over to Icemud journal. Somewhere on this forum I ran across where someone was saying that the LED are missing parts of the spectrum. White yellow and green. I don't know how valid those statements are. But I definitely don't want to miss out on anything that helps grow.

BID did you have the standard spectrum mars2 light?

Take a quick look at my current journal Papasmoke. Link is in my sig.

I know BID doesn't like others to answer direct questions, but I will roll the dice this time. BID's MarsII is standard spectrum.

Dear All, I am back, Company annual meeting, two days, How were your Christmas? I hope all of you are very happy. I am arranging your shipment and replying your emails now. will back to talk with all of you soon. :)

Welcome back sara, extremely eager to make my purchase!

That might be in one of my posts. I want to first off say that the Mars II lights and the reflector series are excellent lights. The blend of LED's that they have put together have made my nugs so frosty its amazing!

The part about LED missing certain wavelengths is only my opinion based on my belief that plants need full spectrum. Its not that current LED's are lacking or missing parts of the spectrum because they do include white LED's. The only reason I mentioned that is because I am currently in the process of planning a custom spectrum and In My Opinion, I think that adding more LED's in the ranges of 280nm UV, 400-440nm purple/blue, 490-520nm aqua/blue/green, 560-620 yellow/orange/red would give even slightly better advantages to hitting the auxillary pigments in the plants. White LED's do a good job of covering the basis, but lack in the <440nm area as well as the 490-520nm area which area also important to the plants. Most LED manufacturers do not include UV, and if they do it is 380nm UV which is UV-C, Not 280-310nm UV-b which is supposed to increase trichome production. Overall I just want to say that what you read probably stemmed from one of my posts and I want to say Top LED lights work amazing, and aren't lacking. I just believe that I can modify the spectrum and possibly get even more out of the plants...but its still to be determined.... I just don't want you to think that these LED's are not up to par because they rock!!!

Sweet that really covers why I was thinking that. I guess now all I have to decide is if I should just go big with the 1200 watt mars2 instead of the 900 for my 4x4x7' tent.

Between BID an Icemud I finalized that I would use the mars2 light.

Hi Sara,

Any word on the different power draws on my two 1200W Mars II lights?

I have been in Limbo for weeks now and I would really like to start my journal but I have to have lights with the same wattage.

A dfifference of 67 watts is too much of a variable for an accurate test. I dont have a light meter to see if

the PAR output is the same on the two lights...

Has anyone else with multiple units hooked their lights to a KillaWatt meter to measure the output???

I am very happy with my purchase of 1 Mars 80x5w that just the other day I ordered 2 more! I think you will be very happy with your decision!

My personal experiences:

In the night 18-19 deu i ordered my two Reflector 96x3w. Creating an account wasn't possible, so i ordered via guest account. Minutes later, paypal confirmed the payment, and that was the only and single message i got - no email from TopLed or anything else.

Today, 8 days later i got my two packages - yeah, like christmas, ahm.. wasn't it..?

My conclusion: without this thread, i wouldn't have ordered at topled'. And now i'm eager to set the LEDs on fire!

Jon 705 wasn't entirely happy with the way the TopLED COB vegged his plants. He thought it perhaps should have more spectrum. It may have been that.
