You're doing it in the wrong order. Multiplication comes before addition - so it's 5x2 = 10, then you add the other 10 = 20

I agree with the answer of 17. Who said you would never use algebra again.
Edit: I missed the multiplication. I "saw" a plus sign. The answer is 20. 10 + 5 x 2. Order of operation is multiplication before addition in this problem.

I stopped drinking 25 years ago because if I was not sleeping or working, I was drinking.
I stopped mainly for legal reasons. Every time I was in trouble I usually had been drinking. I could drink for years without having any problems but sooner or later I would do something to totally f-up my life. CL
When I was a kid every time, I got in trouble which was a lot I was drinking but I did not stop till I was 39.
