Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I sent you a PM before I realized that you were posting a separate thread ;) .

HEY! Meanwell ELG-240-36A... Unless I'm mistaken, that power supply has a built in potentiometer! Nice...
SP 200 uses MEANWELL driver it doesn't influence too much on the price, so we choose it. And the SP150 is special power supply made by us, the same effect like meanwell driver but will save growers around 20USD, so we choose this one to help growers save cost. But if growers has special needs, we can also do mean well drivers specially, but will be needed to ship out from China. :) :green_heart:

That was fast - you must be the hardest working company representative in the cannabis world, lol

I've been up for a day and a half now, so it's time for me to fade into dream land.

An idea that just came to me, would it be possible to add an hour counter to the lights? I think this would be a good indicator to people who buy a MH light of approximately when to replace them. The down side, is it is another component to fail, but all in all it would be nice to know when to plan on purchasing a new light for replacment. Especially if its your only one mid grow ;)

I really should pick up a pair. Just been squinting/closing my eyes while i water.
I can’t wait till I receive mine. My eyes hurt after 30 min in my grow room. Thanks mars hydro for the hook up. Saving my vision so I can watch my future plants grow. :D:green_heart:

I'm in for the win good luck everyone definitely could use more light for these ladies though

An idea that just came to me, would it be possible to add an hour counter to the lights?

Probably be easier, simpler, and cheaper for the end-user to just purchase a cheap hour-meter, or to use something like a Kill-A-Watt or similar device; my Kill-A-Watt is a more basic version and resets when it loses power, but the better ones might have some form of battery backup or non-volatile memory, IDK. If so, the advantage of such devices is that they can tell you more than just how long something has been using electricity - it can tell you its wattage, line voltage, et cetera.

I think this would be a good indicator to people who buy a MH light of approximately when to replace them.

Well... In theory, an LED device is good for 35,000, 50,000, or even more hours. It seems like what kills them is much the same as what kills other electronic devices - heat and "dirty" power (surges, brownouts, etc.). And, I suppose, for exposed diodes, surface contamination could play a part in reducing light output. An hour-meter won't help you track these kinds of things. Nonetheless, some people would probably be interested in such a feature for one reason or another - but I suspect that the vast majority wouldn't be (or at least not enough to want to pay for it ;) ). And therein lies the problem, IMHO: Mars-Hydro is really popular, in part because the company provides decent products that serve their customers' needs without adding features that would appeal to only a relative few people but that would raise the prices for everyone. (An estimated) $20 or so doesn't seem like a lot of additional expense - but some potential customers are already purchasing lesser products (that may only be that much cheaper) from other companies because they feel that a relatively small price difference is significant.

Just my opinion of course.

Thanks for your suggestion :thanks:
Usually if customers' lights have problems, such as leds burn out several times or many pcs of leds burn out, then we will advise our customers to buy a new light. If their present lights use for long time without problem, we will advise them to continue to use it. So it is easy to judge when they need buy new light.

I feel happy to help you. I think our white grow bar will become popular soon, if we use that bar, we don't need ware glasses and the white light can make us see plants clearly and our eyes will not hurt.

These buds look delicious :circle-of-love: thanks for sharing :thanks: :welldone:

When our engineer produce new product: the main concern is the practicability, then it is popularity and price. These are three important factors affecting our products. If many customers tell us hour-meter is necessary, useful and affordable, we will advise our engineer if we can add it to become a part of our light. :thanks:

Sign me up! I have two tents that could showcase your new lights, a dedicated veg tent and a dedicated flower tent. Veg is 2 x 4, flower is 4 x 4. I could show the abilities of each phase, veg and flowering at the same time. I have been using your lights for over five years and have come to appreciate them. My last grow wowed the breeder of Debilitator Kush, and converted him to Mars Hydro led tech. He is an old school hps hippie, growing since the 70's. If I can bring him to the Mars Hydro family, I am sure more will follow. Plus my plants love the Mars Hydro leds. Thank you for the opportunity.
Sincerely, Mootah
