For a replacement of 1000 watt light?
apparently the lights im looking into getting claim to be 1000W replacers and they have the plants to prove it. i dont know if i can or should post the name here. i could just pm you.
Well okay the way i see it is like this correct me if im wrong but im trying to look at this all from the outside without a bias view to on or the other. A 1000W hps uses a large output or has a larger output needed to get the same amount of a certain light or strength of light spectrum. Where there is a lot of the white spectrum which supposedly doesnt do as much for the plant to what ive been reading. Where on the other hand LEDs have the capability to target the correct light spectrum's and strengths with the individual wattage's etc increasing, and with the ability to target exactly those spectrum's and etc the plant needs with individual diodes or whatever im not too technical when it comes to all the components sorry. But with being able to target the said spectrum's needed with lower watts needed i can see how a lower wattage light can infact beat something that is not optimized to the specific task of growing a plant and in the process also uses a ton of power and creates a ton of waste heat. I dont know if this is making any sense or not had a j of something pretty strong so yeah hope this helps in any way shape or form.
let me know what you think, its just technology coming into the game. like new processors use less power but out preform the older generation which used more power its kind-of the same principle. evolution in technology! just my .2 cent
Peace
well if what you mean is to bid like on ebay, unfortunately i am disabled and live on a very small fixed income, i have several herniated discs in my spine and also need total knee replacement on both knees, i grow for the pain relief i get from cannabis and because i cannot afford to buy it, quite simply i dont have extra money to buy lights or i would have already gotten an led light to test, the best i could do is cover shipping if it was not to much, what i thought you were offering was a light in exchange for a journal and review and all the free advertizing i would do for you, i guess i will have to bow out on this offer/gift and let someone with money have a go at it, its unfortunate i think we could have helped each other out a lot, i have several years growing experience indoors and even more outdoors, heres a pic of my garden 2 days ago
but thank you for making the offer and becoming a sponsor here, perhaps one of our other great growers that can afford a little more then me will showcase your lights for you
sometimes being disabled sure can be a big bummer lol oh well it was worth a try ,i sure would have liked trying out that 80x5w led
good luck and have fun!!
hey sara check this out, i found tons of listings and different sellers of the mars II light 80x5watt (400watt equal its claiming) heres a link to it "link", now are ppl reselling your light,or whats this situation, i thought you should know, the prices are all over the place as low as 100 usd if you buy 5, specs are the same, i just did a search for the "mars II led growlight" even uses the same pics as on your site
hey paul, great post and thank you for your support, living so far below the poverty line you think"damn i wish i had that much income!" is tough, but im doing it and somehow supporting spiffy and a youngster on it, key things are no car payments or any form of credit,we own everything we have outright,we save every penny till we have the $ needed for things, cupons, and thrift stores are our friend! lol ,we save alot of $ by using cannabis for our main medicine for everything, and all food is made from scratch, even things like cheese, bread, yogurt you name it we make it, spiffy is within a year of her bachelors in business healthcare admin, life wil get better, but a key thing is we learned its ok to be happy now,and not falling inro the social trap of "i'll be happy when i get that job/car//shoes/toy/house etc" , you can be happy right now, and still work on your goals, then you get happ(ier), it takes time to get past the consumerisim mindset we have had beat into our minds since conception, but in the end you have plenty of nice things you dont owe for, when we buy land it will be bare, we will live in a mobile and build our solar powered dream house with our handsSmoke Sara, regarding BID: I agree that this is one potential "experimenter" that you should seriously consider. I have been on this site for a while now and have followed him because I consider him to be a bonafide, quality conscious person. His writings of the findings are clear and concise. I too, have been growing this marvelous herb for many years (on & off since 1973) and am always getting new and better tips and techniques from him as well as others. Although the past 6-7 years I have been exclusively a hydroponics grower, my experience in soil is about equal. I went indoors for security reasons having lost (outdoor) crops to thieves. I love the "artificial means to the end" and think that although the forum of LED vs. HID still has a long time to be researched, the potential exists but needs to be thoroughly evaluated. The more "experimenters" you have, the faster things will evolve. I have built my own LED arrays because I also experiment with electronics. I love to experiment with the multitude of nM combinations. (Do NOT overlook the need for some quantity of UV & IR LED's in your formulas!). Heck, the largest cost is the solder! I build control systems for larger sized growers and currently am expirementing on pest eradication through electronic means (ultra-sonic, laser, IR & RF) all being potentially promising. I cannot get my products out to the growers here because I am NOT a sponsor. I too, Like BID, am disabled and have little to no income. Anything I buy is a hardship so I make almost everything I can to save the money (my time is cheap = lots of it) so I can understand his need for assistance from you. I would certainly consider BID as a candidate. I would also be a good one because I understand LED's and have worked with them for >5 years! BUT alas, I have no money and therefore would want you to choose BID.
My support to you is still possible. I have been in the retail lighting business since 1991 and actually was the first on-line retailer of decorative lighting creating a 3,500 page website in 1995-6 that grossed 1.5M in its' peak years. I still retain my retail store and warehouse although I no longer have "open hours". I sell off my display fixtures when ever I can (supplement my income). I could offer you a warehouse/distribution point as well as a showroom devoted exclusively to your company's products. It would take very little investment to complete this and could feasibly be up & running within a few weeks. Everything is in place from the logistics to the "brick & mortar" store with all the official licensing, taxing and accounting systems in place just laying around doing zero. PM me if interested. I understand you would need top see a lot of evidence (really should tour the location) and I can provide whatever you would like to see.
TO BID I had my left knee, total replacement done twice (2005 & 2006)! Yep, that's 2X. I researched this surgery technique for 2 years before I committed to it. Having seen nothing but rave reviews, I went ahead and had it done. Worse decision of my life. Then after the second surgery and recovery (what a bitch) I still am worse off than when I had the bad knee. My right knee needs it too and is worse than the left every was but I will not be having it done. I guess I wasn't a good candidate for this because my body's bone over growth rejected the first and only tolerates the second. Think hard and long before you agree to do it because not all the results are good and the bad ones seem to not get the publicity. Again, I am sorry I did it. I am totally disabled and get SSDI as my only means of support. Because I own Real Estate, I cannot get Medicaid/Food Stamps, etc. thus my dabbling in the Electronic controls for growers. I would be happy to share my experiences with you...
Sara works for a manufacturer, people are rebranding and reselling her lights.Bid
It could be that ppl are reselling Sara's light or could be that Sara simply buy in bulk and are reselling themselves as there own
Come on bro, do you really think a company is going to pay $2000 a year to become sponsors here just to have us expose them as frauds once they sell a few lights that are different than the testers we are getting?doesnt make much sense does it? Maybe these lights arent where they need to be yet but by giving a few away to experienced growers and asking for honest feedback on what needs to be changed I think Sara honestly wants to make a good product that is affordable for everyone, I believe that led grow lights are the way of the future for indoor growing, its just a matter of dialing in the right spectrums and angles, once they figure that out being a big manufacturer and being able to buy all the parts in bulk will mean quality lights for a fair price for all of ustoo much bullshit when it comes to led, tbh cant really trust anybody, proof will be in the grow outs, but even then is it gonna be the same panels were buying or is this the decent ones being shipped to you guys and we all see decent results then buy shit.
G' Morning everyone and Good evening Sara.. I am looking forward to the testing results.
Sara, The 80x5 looks like the "Black Dog LED" Lights. Are they the same?
Buck, I am testing/using a reflector light like the 193x3 but mine is 240x3.($450 usd) I'm covering a 4x3 area pretty well. I found that keeping the light about 6"-12" above at the start of flowering will keep the plants short and stout.( at the recommended 18-24" above canopy the plants did way to much stretching) The results for me have been pretty good so far. I haven't seen the same results as my 600hid but i am getting closer. (Trying to get a good feeding schedule but with watering every 7-10 days.... Ugg) Also had a timer issue in Veg which set me back a few weeks and resulted in me flowering a set of smaller than usual plants.
If i had been here a little sooner I prob would have went with Sara's light although I like the dimensions of mine a little better (32"x16"x3")
I may do a journal in the future, At this time I don't want to draw to much attention to myself. PM me if you have any questions.
later...
Oh yea....Yday i noticed one of my five fans stopped. (LOL) CCC (Cheap Chinese Crap!). If I wasn't a Electronics Tech I'd be upset. The lights looks easy to dissemble so I will be replacing the fan soon.
so much for quality fans.......
(I have two other used and abused LED's over 2yrs old, and all the fans are still running)
