Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

What setting do use to get a sunrise sunset feature

Well for me, every 15 minutes I raised only the Red 10% for the first hour which was then at 40% red. Then I continue doing that to the Red but then every 15 minutes I started adding the blue/white 10% every 15 minutes. Now Red 80% and blue/white 40% at second hour. The red reached 100% first but the blue/white finally got to 100%. So Sunrise was about 3.5 hours. I reversed that for sunset.

So here's another update from my first MH LED harvest. I pulled 13.2 ounces (dry) of ripe tops from my 6'x3' SCROG on the first cut. The second and final cut was completed on Friday, and there appears to be a lot more than I anticipated there would be. I am a big advocate of cutting in stages, another 7 days can do wonders for lower, scraggly buds that were being shaded by the larger tops. I have 3 1/2 of my cheap IKEA hanging racks full of buds that are now on their 2nd day of drying. Based on what I pulled from the initial cut, I'm guessing there is another 4-7 ounces left, putting my total harvest somewhere in the 17-20 ounce range which I am very pleased with. This only includes pure bud, there is still another 3-5 ounces or so of popcorn left on the screen that will be chopped/dried and used for butter, edibles and tinctures.

Here is a pic of what I have left drying:

So a final update as the 2nd cut from my 1st LED harvest is now dry and in jars. Using ~950 W of MH LEDs (2x MarsII 900's, 1 x Reflector 48) over a 6' x 3' SCROG, I yielded a total of 515g or 18.4 ounces of dry bud. This does not include 4.5 ounces of popcorn that I chopped and dried and that will be used for edibles and more hash making.

18.4 + 4.5 ounces - 22.9 ounces = 642 g

642 g / 950W = 0.67 g / Watt

I have to say that I am very happy with this result for the first go-around. I have not grown or used my room in 2 years, and this was also my 1st time growing hydroponically or SCROGging, and know a few ways in which I can improve things for round #2. One of my limiting factors was genetics as the C99 grows like a pure sativa and isn't a big yielder, and that was 3/4 of my garden. The Cream Caramel on the other hand, shows the potential for really nice yields under these LED lights as she only took up 1/4 of my screen but yielded 6 ounces of primo rock hard bud from a single plant. By really dialling in my room and tweaking things, I am confident that I can get to .8 g/Watt or above for the next round.

All in all, I am very pleased with my MH LEDs, they more than paid from themselves on the first go. I invested about $1000 on the lights, but grew $4000+ worth of medicine (including hash and edibles). Growing under these lights increased the enjoyment factor immensely, I loved lower heat and noise in my room and spent much more time in there as a result. I am also very happy with the quality of the end product and the penetration of these lights. At 14-16" above the canopy, I still had big hard buds at or below the level of the screen which was very impressive considering how dense my screen was (too crowded in spots).

I'm a happy customer that will be buying another MarsII 900 (or equivalent wattage of Reflector series) for my next round. If anyone reading this is on the fence about these lights, take the plunge and you won't be disappointed.

:circle-of-love: Hi flexy, as Reflector has wider leds than MarsII, it will cover more area while MarsII has higher intensity on average. :circle-of-love:
Can someone tell me why someone should get the Mars 2 700W over the Mars Reflector 144 (or vice versa?)
Both lights have about 700W and 5W chips. What would make one light better than the other?

:thanks: thanks for the help, LEDCanuck.:yahoo:
Reflector will be larger light footprint and slightly less heat, MarsII will be provide more focused and intense light with a little more heat. Reflector will also have a bit more red in the spectrum according to recent tests by Flyboy.

:circle-of-love:brian... those are very sweet memeories.:dreamy:
Yes my name actually is a referance to the skate team, when i was a teenager i was pretty crazy and with these guys as role models lets say i ran into my share of trouble and experimenting with substances but always been able to smoke herb to calm down and be ok with whatever situation im in. i did see the epicly laterd with ali and it was awesome man, that team is a great example of friendship and figuring youself out. andrew reynolds was a crazy bastard , put his life together and now owns a team that allows his friends to support themselves while they figure things out.... lol but ya a bit off topic so this will be my last rant, Carl Sagan, Andrew Reynolds, Richard Dawkins, and Christopher Hitchens are a few my long time hero's

:laughtwo: more will not hurt. I am looking forward to seeing your grow in March.:high-five:
I live in a cabin with no central heat, if i leave overnight it gets below freezing in here. I can start my next grow in may, will prolly try to start and veg my plants in early march. If i veg one tent and flower in the other I can get 3 harvests minimum in a season, thats way more than i need.

Have the same question as stoney. What's the actual recommended distances for the marsII and what the recommended distance for the old 60x5

:thanks: thank you for sharing, CatfishKnight! I have put it down. Many customers have asked about this.:Namaste:

:party::party:awesome result, LEDCanuck!!! I am so happy that you enjoy the grow and our lights haven't let you down!:goof: Keep doing better.:high-five:

:circle-of-love:Hi Stoney, you can keep them at the same height. They both use 5w. The penetration is the same.:Namaste:

question should I hang my 60x5 300 watt led at the same hight as my Mars ll 1200 or should I have it lower than the 1200

:circle-of-love: Hi Gltich, here is rececommend distance
germination 24-30inches above the plants
veg:18-24 inches above the plants
flower:12-18 inches above the plants
:high-five: They are the same.

:circle-of-love: yes. Stoney, stay with me until 12:00. I have good news to announce.:cheesygrinsmiley:
So adding the 60x5 Is like Adding 60 more 5 watt diodes to the Mars ll 1200 and giving me a better par right?
