A marijuana dispensary which was operating unlawfully in Fontana was closed down by authorities on Tuesday morning, according to the Fontana Police Department.
Holistic Meds, located at 15375 Baseline Avenue, had been selling an extremely wide selection of marijuana-related items, including approximately 50 different types of marijuana bud, a dozen different drinks containing THC, an a selection of baked/cooked items also containing marijuana, according to Fontana Police Sgt. Billy Green.
All of the items found at the location were seized and will not be returned to the owner.
"The Fontana Police Department is committed to ridding the city of all marijuana dispensaries," said Green. "It is strongly recommended that other dispensaries in the city (believed to be seven additional locations) immediately cease their unlawful distribution of marijuana. Those dispensaries know who they are because they are operating in the city without a business permit. Furthermore, they have all received written notification from the Code Enforcement Unit and have thus far ignored the notice of violation. If these businesses continue to operate in the city, they will eventually face similar consequences as experienced by those involved with Holistic Meds."
A federal search warrant was served at Holistic Meds at 9 a.m., and narcotics detectives from the Fontana P.D., along with agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, were involved in the operation.
Upon the arrival of officers, they were met at the front door by an armed security guard. The guard complied with the direction of officers and was temporarily detained before being released from the scene. A customer inside the store, along with an employee, was released shortly after the service of the warrant, and no arrests were made.
