Maine 4-Season Greenhouse Grow

I was a stern man on a lobster boat for awhile. Hate the maggots more than the smell!

So, how does your garden grow, y'all? I have a few seeds above ground. I found a strain "Mobsta", a cross of "Moose and Lobsta" Bred for our climate here in Bar Harbor. Have a few regular seeds. Then I found some seeds from a gentleman in the hydro store was giving away to gain some customers. They're called Deebo Skunk. Will put them in the ground in about 2 weeks. Looking good.
Good luck with those Bode. They sound exciting for us here.

I planted a bunch of Mandala Genetics on May 1....they specifically recommend no pre-germ and straight into soil...while they say they have an excellent germ rate I am seeing about 60% so far, but I might have cooked them with heat and hot starter soil...granted I was a little fast and loose with it...but even so I got 5 of their varieties popped...just was in the GH dropping some more (ATF, Blueberry, Northern Soul, and Carnival) and I saw one of the Mandala seeds sitting on the (very messy) counter...I forgot to put her in the Box so she had a few 40F nights and 100+F days...still she popped so I gotta give them snaps for that! I have been busting ass getting our Cabin finished, planting the farm, smiling for the guests (honeymooners this week) and generally running around like everyone else.

Hope you all are enjoying your Spring so far :peace:

Highya BH, Guys,

Sounds like you sleep well at night, BH. Your kids must pitch in to help. Hope you're not overdoing it.

I'm hoping to add a fish emulsion this year. Grind it up in the blender, ferment for a few days, then mix with water. Best way to apply.

Are you growing and journaling this summer, PW? Cheers

Always aware of my limitations, but love the feeling of a productive day. As you know, it rained all day today (and continues) so I took it easy and did some light indoor chores (and dropped some seeds ;) )

Currently laying in the tent with kids, stove going, rain on the canvas...thankful for all of it.

TGIF everyone :peace:

I stood there covered head to toe in maggots...

Sign that its time to go fishing. lol

How bout snakes? Was doing home inspection with a local PE - he's seen a lot of shit I'm thinking.
He told me that snakes are the thing that freak him out the most.

I'm like... meh, its just a little one. lol

That's my thinking too!

Cant eat a Red Eye like that I dont think. Cause I never tried it. My dogs on the other hand love those Red Eyes. Can catch 2 per worm off the dock most every time.

How we do it at the cottage. Build a hot fire on top of the granite - burn our brush and old wood logs and when the ashes cool there's potash and granite dust. Yah it just flakes off we get a fair amount of granite dust that way. Brush the ashes and the dust up and into a bucket toss in the garden.

Best of both worlds. At the cottage we dont have close access to soil or compost. We have to get a little crafty. There are (peat) bogs tho a shit ton of em. Go boating and scoop up some fresh bogs with bucket and into a cement tray on the boat.

Mix all that together with the potash and the granite dust . We should have a nice garden this summer. Maybe try making some fish crappy stuff or plant a fish! Never tried that but herd of it.

LOTS of rain in Ontario this spring along with a lot of snow and thick ice. Recipe for disaster.

We still have docks woot!
The fish stuff works man.

I fished a LOT as a kid back in florida. Caught a LOT of fish over the years.....A LOT. Wasn't uncommon to catch 20-40 trout, reds, snook and black drum in a day. All those fish were cleaned and all their leftovers went into the ground on the side of the house in an area that was about 15'x15'. After a couple years of that...we planted a key lime tree. HOLY SHIT DUDE! I have seen a lot of stuff grow....but nothing grew like that freaking tree. Branches would literally snap off from weight of the fruits once it was mature. That single key lime tree in that location produced at least 5 times any of the other trees in our yard in different areas that never got the fish treatment.

I'm sold now. Be doing more fishing at the cottage. lol

<--- Look at my avatar

Get my friends some worms, a rod with a bobber and a bucket.

Fill the bucket, I'm having beer. lol

I use fish bone meal and also that lobster compost sometimes from Coast of Main - that's good shit.

We bought a turkey from a local organic farm last month.

We cooked it up and my wife says; "kinda tastes like fish."

Thinking they fed the turkey fish bone meal. I'm like naw impossible. Then she made me breakfast with it, turkey and eggs. brrrrp... yup, tastes like fish.

Its good for chickens to help make stronger shells I think.

Busy, busy, busy...lots of things being juggled...don't have a lot of time to be internetting :)

Quick pic of some seedlings on their way...I always seem to forget that these little bitches will turn into big mommas. Temps this morning were 39F...nice to have them still in the insulated Box.

Man you got a lot going on there in that tray brother!! Hope all is well up there with the Blew Crew!
Well, I wanted to get some plants going while I was juggling other things....I had issues with the Mandala germinating (only 5/9 first round popped) so I tried the ones that didn't pop again and they popped...the difference this time is I soaked them rather than spray the soil...I'm going to suggest they add that little tidbit to their online germ directions.

Otherwise we are busy, busy, busy....spring is mostly here and we are already expecting our fourth group of guests at the Cottage tomorrow. Got one more side of the Cabin to finish for siding and then putting in the flooring...it's looking good but I'm waiting for the finished pic for here ;)

Hope all is well down in Stankville...
