Magnum XXXL Soil Cooker?

Has anyone ever done this to sterilize their soil? Out here in wetsville the sun is probably gone for the winter.Anyone think this will work or am I just wasting energy...

I am running the inline to keep the bulb cool and hood cool. Temps remain as pictured.

Last i checked things do not spontaneously erupt in flames then they come within three inches from an air cooled hood. Is your dirt flammable?

yeah, I gave up on it already. heh. just being way overzealous trying to kill off the fungus gnats that come with ffof before anything is actually growing in it.

If you are wanting to sterilize your soil, wouldn't you want to bring its temperature up to 180°F (but less than 200°F) for 30 minutes? 124.7°F might kill a few things in your soil - but it won't sterilize it.
