High C5Rftw.
The only "plant" bulb I've ever used for my 1000W MH ballast was the Sunmaster Warm Deluxe and it produced plants with nice dense buds. It burned out at the beginning of the last grow so I picked up a common MH and was using that to finish the flowering. The buds were a lot fluffier than what I got with the Sunmaster. Then again I should have used my 2-400W HPS lamps to flower with like now and maybe got better buds.
The Sunmaster cost me $175 compared to $35 for a common MH but proved superior for flowering. For veg the $140 price difference would pay for a lot of power to run the light. I'd like to swap one of my 1000W MH ballasts for a 1000W HPS but don't have any non-digital growing buddies to swap with. lol
Lumens are not the end-all and be-all of plant lighting. Many lumens of all bulbs are emitted in spectra that the plant cannot use so total lumens are not really as important as the PAR watts or Photosynthetically Active Radiation the bulb puts out. The Sunmaster bulb I have is rated at only 105,000 lumens and 315 PAR watts. So PAR watts are what your looking for to get the best bulb for your needs. I don't have a list of ratings at hand but I'm sure a little time with Google will get you all the info you need to make an informed decision.
Thanks for the good luck wishes in the MOM elections and yes Roseman will be tough competition but as he has built a loyal following through his hard work and contributions to the cause I won't be disappointed should he or anyone else win. I'm looking forward to the vote and win or lose it should be a lot of fun.
