Lunar Gardening Community Journal: Improve Your Crops Using Simple Tricks

Happy sunday everbody, I hope you're having a great weekend and none of your loved ones is ill due to the virus.

These are the plants after the Delta-9 application. I already see browning on the pistils tips on the big one, but I'm not sure if it's just growing fast or I overdid with Delta-9.

Things should be fine as they're going into week 6 on monday.

Here's a macro I took :laughtwo:

1589738954323.png

Other than that I made more banana tea and left the plants facing apart to even the canopy. I have until tuesday before the stretching begins.

Regarding nute levels, I'm trying to take it slow because it's a resting period, but damn they're hungry. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to go 3x on the big one and 2x on the small one. Look at the reports here.

Good evening everybody.

I went to the store today to get one of those heat-saving foam things to put on the main door because it's starting to smell really dank in here, which means they might be @ the 10 week mark the mfg suggests :laughtwo:

As you can see, one looks about one week ahead of the other.

It's been hard keeping up with pruning. I regret not doing a better job managing the plants during veg, but it's survival of the fittest in here. Close ups of both plants next:

The little one should start to take off around friday according to the calendar. I will try topping it and run a much more agressive pruning to ensure big buds. Having this journal to go back to and compare things will be nice too. Nutes are getting low, but I plan on watering either tomorrow night or thursday night, depending on how low is the EC.

Monday should be interesting, as I will agressively fertilize to build up the soil EC. Currently it's 0.3-0.5, so I hope to avoid nute burn by increasing the nutes, making more banana tea and of course, rice water.

Man, my hands are itching to snap some branches and prune even more, but I must resist.

It's raining outside, so I spent the day looking at the ladies and thinking about next steps. For now, I did a bit of training to open up the branches again. Looking much better now!

I'm watering tomorrow night and next update should be around saturday or monday. See ya!

so this is a little hard to follow. so I watered with you tonight but it says we shouldn't water until the 25th?
BTW I think this is so interesting, so I put it in my signature. :passitleft:

Saturday evening update:

Flowering plants are @ day 47. Small one is @ day 17.

1590279909314.png

After letting the plant "compete" for the canopy these resting days, I'm tying down any branch that needs help getting light to the lower buds. I should be doing the last serious prune in 24 hours and lollypop the plants as best and confident as I can. You can see my fingers pointing to the budsites that were getting left behind between all the leaves.

1590280204627.png

1590280221468.png

Besides pruning tomorrow, I'm gonna have to make banana tea and rice water to increase the nutrient concentration. Soil is going to be @ 0.2-0.3 tomorrow, so I have to go all in.

1590280335264.png

so it says that this weekend is the best for sowing and planting flowering herbs. doesn't that fall into our category?

ok I have a few more questions.
For DWC applications, I'm considering manual top-feeding "watering". that should work, right?

I have sour plum in a gro block that is about to go into these totes

Sour plum is in the dome. I should wait until the 29th and 30th before moving it to the tote? because of transplanting work? :hmmmm:

while it's generally advisable to sow near new moon, cannabis in particular works better when germinating around full moon. During each moon cycle, the moon goes over the 12 signs and some are better for specific tasks, that's why you see sometimes ideal dates for pruning, sowing and fertilizing on small windows during periods that shouldn't be for that specific task. I don't have the full grasp yet, but germinating around full moon allows your plant to develop some roots, rest and then take off when new moon arrives (at least in my experience).

Regarding DWC I have no idea. I know a lot of nutes are DWC only (or DWC not compatible), so check what you have and see if some hydro expert can chime in on that. I only have 9 hours to go before pruning, so I can't wait for it :laughtwo:

In my mind that's the way I always looked at seeding cereal crops... I put it to myself like this, in 2 weeks when that crop is up the nights will not be totally dark... no little kids like the dark it takes a little time to develop the courage, I always assumed the plants were the same. By the time they actually see a new moon the plants are teenagers and they know everything by then... right:eek:.

Good evening everybody. Today was the last big prune and the stems look promising.

This was the situation before we started:

1590383261120.png

She seems to be a week or so behind the other one, but I wouldn't bother at all if it wants to take the full 3 months to be ready :laughtwo:
1590383750127.png

1590383356922.png

Meanwhile, the tall one is getting and she might be ready in 3 weeks. I take pride in this one, as it's a bonsai replica of the huge veggies the masters of this community grow :laughtwo:

1590383517344.png

Light was a tad overdramatic, but it helps with pruning, giving me a better picture of how far the light goes.
1590383596475.png

Nodes 1 and 2 already chopped. Will wait to chop the leaves until I top this one. Same pack, but I'm more confident in the abuse it can take now.

1590383680350.png

Cuts weren't too close because I was afraid I was going to snip something else. Looking good so far.

This was the end result. Now I have to wait. I'll post the 24h update tomorrow.

After a week, plants are thriving. One should be ready in about two weeks, the other I have no idea. Probably a month or so.

The topped one started growing fast after a day or so resting due to the pruning. I'm very curious regarding how it will turn considering the sisters are quite beautiful and strong :laughtwo:

Also, chief inspector cat making sure everything is fine.

Tuesday I should be pruning any fan leaves covering bud sites and will check if the new one needs any help.

Good morning everyone!

Good and bad new with this update, so I'm starting with the bad:

I messed up the quadlining of the young plant by applying excessive force. I decapitated a node and the other was critical but it's healing. The other 2 are developing quite well. (top is just the fan leaf, left is the surviving node)

1591421234056.png

1591421133906.png

The eldest plants are doing great. Left one will definitely be ready in 10 days or less, right one should have a month to go but you never know.

1591421435620.png

The main cola is looking delicious as well:

1591421689382.png

And finally but not least, I'm germinating a Lemon Auto Kix now that it's full moon. If you want to see proof the moon is your friend, pop a seed or two in water for it to grow

Finally, next week schedule:

Auto lemon kix hasn't sprouted yet (but I think it will during the next 24 hours). Both plants are looking great and the thicc one should get the chop during the weekend. Here's some photos in the meantime

I'm getting ready for sunday harvest, so I flushed today, cleaned the tent and spread as far as I could the colas so they get more light these final days.
1591929352471.png

I also noticed that I have significant growth below the canopy line, mostly due to mismanagement on my end and not planning ahead enough. I'm putting some close up shots, but you can see the difference between both sets.

While I will be harvesting on sunday, the next good harvesting time is the 23. This means the trychomes on these buds will go CBD mostly but I don't mind since I want to make some cbd-heavy edibles for my gf.

1591928866625.png

The sister won't be ready until at least the 23, but it sure might be another month (which I don't mind at all). Once I harvest the big girl she will have more space to spread out. The other babies are coming along well, altough I still feel the pain of messing up the quadlining so bad. The hole is huuuuuuge, yet I have faith more things will be learned from this plant.
