LoveThyPit's First Grow 2013

im subbed when i seen that you were going to be growing the doctor it was like deja vu cuz i was looking at the doctor on single seed Canada ready to buy them when i thought i had enough seed for now im really looking foward to that strain i hope she pops open for u.. and i lol k ;) pce for now don't forget to GeTuRgrOwoN !

oh man really? I thought I have been reading good things about the ocean forest :(

Seriously, OF is way too hot for most strains. Your plants will grow like a banshee at first then develop nutrient lockouts in the middle to end especially if you feed on top. I have had much better plants moving to HF and using the feeding routine in my sig.

The Doctor was the 2nd one to hit soil but the first one to pop-up!

ok, a little update. The white widow never made it, poor little girl :( But the Dr. took off. I fear she is stretching to much very quickly though. I have the light 2 feet above the plant because I had read you have to keep the light higher during the early stages as to not burn the plant. Is that true? Should I lower the light? If so, how high above the plant should I go? Any info would be appreciated , thanks

The only real issues with getting that light nice and close is temps and bleaching. As long as the temps are good you shold be able to get as close as a foot with most lights without bleaching your tips .even my 600w hid can get down to a foot or so with the cool hood at full blast without burn but I wouldn't push it any closer than that. 14-16 inches is good for keeping the nodes nice and tight. My 48w CFL (240w equivalent) I sit about 3 inches above my seedlings. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't get any closer than 24 inches with that light LTP, bleaching and burning are 2 different things, bleaching happens when the led's are to close and burning is a HID thing. You can still have your panel to close and not see any bleaching, having them to close will affect your yield, if the light is to intense the growth will be stunted and during flower the pistils will curl away from the light instead of point right at them and the nugs will be smaller, im speaking from experience here bro not from what ive heard. Some strains can handle higher umol's than others your going to have to play around with it until you figure out what works for you. My lights dont move, when they first get into the flower room the plants are almost 40 inches away from the lights, by the time the stretch is done they are 24-26 inches from the lights, let the plants grow up into the light as they get used to the intensity, if you see a bit of stretch starting then adjust them, after a few grows you will figure out exactly where the lights should be:)

Thanks for the info guys, after the quick growth from the doctor she fell over! She stretched to tall for her weak stem, I felt she was too high in the soil so I lowered her down some and added some soil. I also lowered my light to 18 inches. I have my light on VEG and not full power for the record, and Ari (The 1st Dr.) is looking pretty good I think :). After the fall of the White Widow I started another Dr. (AKA Blaze). Blaze has started popping quick too! Here are the 2 sisters

So Ari has some great leaf formation I think! But as we know, I don't really know anything lol. So take a look, think there is too much leaf growth and not enough height? Or is thiskinda normal and what I should expect from a young seedling?
