Lost In The Fog

Halloj!
Haha, thanks for the avatar.
Crazy, that is an impressive system. What sort of led is that going to cool? I'm using a COB light, and it gets pretty warm. Good luck testing it.

The leds is based on Samsung diodes and some far red diodes for flower initiation. They come from a company called Chilled and the boards are named Logic 100. They are rated 100W each and I got three of them. They get mighty hot too. So in the hottest months we had this summer I had temps over 35C in my tent. So this got my mind running wild ideas, and I came up with this master plan. Air is very poor for moving heat and water is great. But it's a bad idea mixing it with high voltage. :)

Hehe, that sounds awesome, Crazy.
I have some problems with high temps, too, but I think I'll get an air conditioner for the next summer. I will also choose my summer strains more carefully. I've just had a Critical and I still have a Gorilla Glue in my tent. The gorilla doesn't like the heat and humidity at all, while the Critical has been super happy. The gorilla was full of white mildew when I chopped the Critical, and the Critical had nothing, and the plants were rubbing buds with each other.

How are your plants handling 35 degrees of heat? I had another gorilla this summer that was badly heat and light stressed, and she got massive! It had 4 buds the size of a human head, and the rest where smaller but still massive. Total yield 637 grams dry, but so bad quality I don't know what to do with it...

This was fortunately at the end of the grow, but I had in mind to keep going. Had run this perpetual since new year. So I felt it was time to end that run. I think it looks worse than it actually is for the plants. Sure it stresses them but I don't think the outcome is affected that much. But when your top colas are ripe dry when still on the plant it's very hot.

Have a mobile air conditioner in the apartment but it was needed to cool myself. :) As I said before trying to cool lights with air is very uneconomical, so why not attack the problem where it's at instead. This way I directly move the heat outside the tent with minimal power. I think this system runs at 200-300W at the moment, cooling only. The first test run I made with this system I could easily touch my lights without having three degree burns on my fingers.

Sweet, I love it, Crazy. Great solutions to nasty problems are awesome! You seem to know how to handle a tool. :goodjob:
So, is that heat sink sitting on the light, and the pump and radiator goes outside the tent? Do you have a flexible hose going from the radiator to the heat sinks? So you can move the light.

You to make a great team....

I have learned the hard way to use the tools I need. Don't know which setup this is that number. Grew in lots of home made boxes and big towers before I got this tent, it's a 120cm*60cm*150cm. Thinking of getting another now when things start rolling again. Starting small until new year.

Yeah the plexi box suppose to sit outside the tent and yes it will be hoses to the cooling blocks which the lights are strapped to. But the lights will be fixed to the top of the tent. Had lots of burns from the lights as well when running them to close, 40-50cm?!. So I don't think the lights need to be moving.

Going to take some time and check out your journal and AngryBirds tonight. Looks like u2 have a lot going. :)

Keep it green fellas. :passitleft:

I've got the same size tent as you, Crazy, but taller. I'd run into problems with a shorter tent. My light can be as close as 60 cm, but 90 cm is better. It gets too warm close to the light.

I just harvested 3 days ago, and will harvest the next one in about a week. Then, unfortunately, I need to take a grow break for a few months, until I find a more grow friendly place to live. I'll hopefully be able to do both indoor and outdoor there.

Ok, is that the kindled? Just peaked in one of your grows.

sorry to hear about all that. Hope u still find time to check in here time to time. :) I had this break for more reasons than the heat. Got some issues in my life that need solving before I go big again.

I have some good news to announce about my insurance. They have started to look in to my claim(?) and gave me 600$ for the first ten days after the accident. They also sent me papers that my doctor is suppose to fill out about my more long term disability I got from my neck injury. So there is still hope!!! So now I can buy me a new pump... maybe should go for a membrane pump. :p

Good news about money. Sad to hear about the accident had no idea :(

Yeah. Life is a bitch. Smashed with a small loader when plowing snow with a bucket. Got hold of a sewage lid (A-bruns lock) so smashed the 10mm hardened glass window with my head in about 20km/h. Busted three discs in my neck and have some nervs in jam between the discs now. This was three years ago now. Been on 50% work now close to a year and things arnt looking good to getting back 100%. Can't go 50% every day either.

I'm sure that's what they figured you'd spend it on!

Yeah, probably. That's why they didn't give me more because they know I would blow it on high-tec stuff for illegal growing. ;)

Found something heavy too I see... (locket) Jezzz, but as I said after my ski accident, whatever you do, do it well.
Sarcastic humour got me through it.
I am glad (must be a crazy swede in me too:rofl::laugh:) you still up and smiling.
One laughter a day, keeps the nut doctor away:love:
