Lost In The Fog

Neck is f-cked up today too... but had a more productive day than yesterday anyway. I have constructed a BIG ASS chiller. Got the two Peltier elements I ordered a few days ago. The next problem is to get power for them. They consume 220W running full tilt. The largest pc psu I got is 195W 12v but I'm running two psu's until I get hold of a more powerful. There is still some issues to solve before I can run this live with the lights on. But It's getting closer. Think I get my seeds tomorrow also........ pics.

Don't think I need fans on this monster. Will construct some sort of enclosure in acrylic which the air will be sucked through and place this monster inside with the pump. The choice of acrylic is to be able to spot leaks.
I got my heat sinks from a place called heatsinks usa Crazy. They do a number of different styles cut to order. Do they have a place like that where you live? Or at least a metal fabricator? I have also found a few heatsinks on Amazon however the selection was pretty limited there.

Sure. Been looking at some fabricators of channeled aluminum here. But the prices are crazy. Also been looking at ebay, you can get the round pin fin quite large as well but it comes at a price that too... I really hope this system works that I built. In other case I probably get the round pin fin.

Got the rig up and running again with working peltiers. Hear a humming sound from the psu... think it's not up for the job. Measured out the amp draw from the peltiers to roughly 10A 12v. So these peltiers are not what they say regarding to their power. I should have over 200W if they work like they are rated. But with 120w the cooling blocks get mighty cold. Think its time for a live test soon. :)

Crazy this is all way over my head. But it looks cool though. You say these peltier fans can go in an oven?

Yeah, that's probably the Only thing it does right now... :)

They probably can go in an oven. What these elements are used for some times is to generate some current to power a fan on a stove to dissipate the heat from the stove. They are a little scifi looking on a old stove with there coolant fins pointing in almost all directions... hmm think I'm a little toasted my self right now. :)

Oh I was thinking more along the lines of converting my oven to a convection style. LOL my mind is always working.

:eek:
That didn't take long! Was it in the vice?

No actually It was the first drop it got. The pen was inside the phone so half the pen was still stuck inside. Had to take a drill bit to get hold of it to be able to pull it out. Now the phone thinks I want to use the pen all the time. Ordered a new one yesterday, cost 20$. For a pen that's just plastic and you can't even write on a piece of paper with it. :)

Manage to rig Poseidon up in the closet today. Mounted the lights on the cooling blocks. Have just run the pump tonight to release all air out of all the blocks and couplings. It's the hardest thing with this setup. Wish I had more pressure from the pump, it would make this so much easier. Tomorrow the live testing will begin. Should have temps out of the blocks for monitoring. I have seen the pc water coolers have 1/4" couplings with temp sensors. Think I will get three of those and sketch some arduino program to monitor the temps and shut down if it raises over a set value.

Well hers some pics of Poseidon.

Got to give Samsung credit for the cameras on the Note. It makes pictures better than the real thing. The light conditions was not good in the closet.

Happy Friday every one! :passitleft::passitleft:
