Lost In The Fog

Don't know what a peltier is

A very inefficient cooling device that has either no or very few moving parts. I read once that an 80-watt one would provide 8 to 10 watts of cooling power, lol. Be awesome to have about 50 of them along with unlimited free electricity.

They're not really very useful (IMHO) due to the inefficiency and scale; was okay for moving a bit of heat produced by a localized, physically small source - say, a CPU - away from that source, if the amount of heat being dealt with was SMALL. I don't think they're even used much for cooling CPUs any more. At a guess, modern CPUs produce too much heat - and you still end up with that heat, just on the other end of the device plus the (rather significant, in comparison) amount of waste-heat generated by the peltier device, itself, as it operates.

Might be best for when a person has a big, complicated thing that generates heat here and there and which is mostly sufficiently ventilated, but has one point-source of heat that is out of the general airflow. But a good heat-pipe or whatever the things are that they put shoddy examples of into laptops would probably be better (and not contribute to the overall heat load).

BtW, I read that these things have been known to destroy themselves over time due to condensation forming on the cold plate and the moisture not getting evaporated/vented away from other components. Might want to watch for that.

Seen some builds with peltier on the tube about chilling water/alcohol in a liquid cooling system. Then you are able to transport away the heat much more efficient than with air. Have some old water cooling stuff back from when I was a nerd.

Just looking in to what I can use this peltier for... Can't just throw it away CS. If it breaks down I haven't lost anything but scrap. :)

Harvested another one today and weighed up the one I had hanging in the dryer... Boy I'm real happy with the result this time.

Still some drying and curing to be done but will hopefully land on the plus side of 100 grams... :cheer:

Oh yes! There are going to be lots of High Summer Nights now!

Tok down some branches on the neighbors cherry tree. The wasps love it and Ginza hates the wasps. They have built a large nest under the roof in the summer place. The pest control are coming and spraying the nest in a few days hope she can cope...

Ginza and her best friend Gizmo... Think she is in love with him. :)

The plants look like they usually do, like hell. Keep feeding them the 6.4 pH mix with only Canna and cal/mag. Maybe its the heat that's doing it to them...

This one is starting to show the same signs as the others........

This one is getting chopped in a week.

Soon shutting down business for this time until the fall... Time for some distance and thinking things over and how to move along.

That's what I had to do also. I just think these plants grow way better in the winter than in the summer. especially in DWC

You bet ya! It turned out to be real nice smoke. Not to strong either. :ganjamon:

Yeah, this insane heat have made it almost impossible to grow. I'm still running the last four. Chopping all of them on Friday this week. Yesterday I had a new record in heat. 34C in the tent.... it's insane. They are almost dried and cured as they stand.

I'm well in the plans for a liquid cooling of the pucks. Tested the peltier elements yesterday. Man they get cold! But there are some problems that need solving before I can implement them. But I think it's going to be awesome, if it can be done! :)

What have you been up to since harvest? Just chilling in the summer?

Jus' dropping by to say high!

Just got back from a dumpster dive.

It will be perfect in my veg tent. The driver is toast but I think the logic 100 driver will be a good match. Going to run a test today I think.

Been running some tests with the peltier elements. Broke the first one with too much voltage but they run steady at 4,2 V @ 2,1 Amp one side mighty cold and the other toasting hot. Found my old water cooling blocks from when I was tweaking cpus. But I'm going to make some bigger cylindrical coolers with a 160mm aluminum disc with an acrylic disc on top that's been milled out in the center to form a space between the discs to hold the water flow. Glue them together and attach the logics to. Don't know if I have all the stuff I need yet but I'm sketching this up as I go.... as usually.

When did you stop being one???. I have no room to talk I play video games like an addict and listen to audiobooks all day lol.

Well a nerd who switch subjects. :) I think it's my light asperger syndrome. ;)

What games do you play then? I run through the singel player games on my ps4 and then I get bored. Looking forward for Black ops 4, Red dead 2, Doom eternal and Rage 2.

Yessss really wanna play red dead 2. I've really been enjoying a game called ark survival evolved, I play with my wife and you can put endless hours into the game.

Really hate how COD franchise has gone to microtransactions, so doubt I will buy BO4. I do have WW2 but haven't played in a while.
