LKABudMan Grows A Green Crack Auto In The VIVOSUN Smart Grow System - Sponsored by VIVOSUN

- 04:00-24:00 - Natural Wind

I don't usually read all of the info at the beginning of your post but this "Natural Wind" caught my eye. Now, to me, "natural" means not man-made so do you have wind from outside coming in somehow or are you just blowing on them? :laughtwo:

Emmy has had a rough week. It started with her getting up-potted to the SIP on Sunday. Then yesterday I noticed her 5th node peeking up enough to get some scissors on it (along with some pretty pistils). So, off with her head!

Emmy may have had a tough week but she looks good. Nice job.

Is the black hole with the green thing where you add water? Does the green thing have a purpose?

LOL. No, Natural Wind is a setting on the Vivosun AeroLight fan. It mimics natural wind by increasing and decreasing at random (or a specific pattern?). You can set the circulation fan off, from 1-10 for a consistent wind, or to the Natural Wind setting.

Thanks HG. She's a trooper.

Yes, the black hole is where you add water to the SIP res, and the green thing has a float to show you how full it is. The best part is that, at least until Emmy covers it up, I can see the green level indicator on the camera and can check the res level real-time ;)

These aren't my plants, they're my girls. I love each and every one of them.
Until I cut their heads off, dismember them. Dry their flesh and eat and smoke them so we become one as they live on inside me.

Emmy's transitioning over to her SIP very well, and why not? She got a good coating of @DYNOMYCO on her roots at up-pot to the SIP which was already amended with both Dynomyco and @GeoFlora Nutrients . Her roots were acclimated to the SIP by bottom-watering, so they must be going crazy in there with all that moisture. Her res will be ready for a top-up by tomorrow.

Starting week# 4, I moved the @VIVOSUN AeroLight a couple of inches closer (16" away), bringing the DLI up to 33.5. I'll take it up again next week to 40DLI, then max out around 45DLI by week# 5.

I love how far she's come in the three days since she was topped. While she hasn't gained much in height or width, her inner nodes are really taking off. Here's a shot of her top right after topping (17th), two days later (19th), and today.

I'll be taking the CarHooks to her this weekend. I'll pull down the top nodes (3&4), and pull the lower nodes (1&2) sideways to get them more exposure. Then just keep guiding everything to the outside. Time to start spreading her out as she switches into high gear!

Emmy got her first LST on Saturday. I've used several different methods of LST but the easiest for this stage is the CarHook (invented by member @Carcass). I use 12" bamboo skewers with coated wire. I have a bunch I've already made and they're re-usable!

I start by securing the top 4 branches (nodes 3&4) in place like a big cross. Then I bend the four lower branches (nodes 1&2) to the side to expose them to the light and fill in the gaps. In the end all 8 nodes should be visible.

She covers up pretty quickly. By this morning the middle was crowded again and a few of the CarHooks had to be moved out a node. Other than that I'm just tucking leaves for right now, nothing has been removed.

NOTE: I had to put a piece of tape over the fill tube to keep the level indicator from messing with her bottom node. Hopefully she'll grow a couple of inches and get out of the way.

The next few weeks are crucial to getting her spread out for flower. I'll continue to train all 8 main branches to the outside of the pot, moving the LST out as soon as they grow a new node. I'll also need to start LSTing side branches as they pop up. She's already throwing pistils so every day counts!

Such beautiful presentation.

And your little semi video using screenshots! On fleek!

My Trip Adviser rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It's all your fault Trala. You made me go find picture editing software to satisfy the arrow police, and I found all of these neat new tools! That one was just an animation created in google pics.

Excellent training and what a cool gif! :welldone:
Thanks Shed. I messed up the last couple of shots in the series but I'll keep playing around with it.

She caught quick! Sweet!
Thanks SO. She's still getting her roots settled and isn't drinking much yet, but she's still moving. I can't wait until her roots hit the bottom, then we'll see some real SIP growth!

Weekly Temperatures

The @VIVOSUN Smart Grow System is keeping the temperatures and RH nice and even in the Playpen. I was looking at the last pictures I posted and my eye caught on the humidifier. It was growing algae and getting pretty ugly. I took some time to clean it out and it looks much better. I turned it down to 50% yesterday hoping it wasn't really needed any more. As you can see from above, it may be needed for a little while longer. It's funny how high the temperature gets without the humidifier going. I turned the humidifier back up to 55%.

Emmy still isn't drinking much. Her SIP res is still 1/2 full so I'm going to give her a little more time before putting more in. While her roots are still trying to settle down her tops keep growing. I had to move her LST out a node again this morning, along with adding a few more CarHooks to sub-nodes. I finished with some leaf tucking. Pretty soon it will be time to get rid of a few leaves, but not just yet.

She is still a short little girl, only about 4" tall. I'm waiting for a growth spurt from her any day now...

That gif was crazy. I wasn't even high and couldn't stop watching it. :laughtwo:

I was thinking Emmy looks huge compared to my 30 days old plants but then I remembered your Emmy is an auto. Phew! Nice job on the LSTing.

Thanks, the trick is to try to take each picture from the exact same spot. A tripod would probably help.

Thanks again. She still looks small to me (only 4" tall) but she's really stretching out now. Hopefully I still have a week or so of veg...
