Gina (FastBuds Gelato Auto)
Date: 4/5/23 Day# 42
Medium - 5 gallon SIP bucket with FFHF soil
Nutrients - Remo Flower Week#1

Just when I thought her problems were behind her, Gina is complaining again. She has twisted brown spots on several new leaves. Maybe she didn't like her little defoliation? Something in the soil she doesn't like? I'll take any suggestions!

I did see some fungus gnats in her the other day so I'm wondering if it's bugs. I sprayed the rocks with peroxide, and I'm soaking some mosquito bits in water now to use for her next watering. I went on the 'zon looking for liquid BT today and learned there are two different types.

BT stands for bacillus thuringiensis, a species of bacteria that lives in soil and makes proteins that are toxic to some insects when eaten. It is generally safe for humans and animals. For caterpiller/moth control you want bacillus thuringiensis, subspecies kurstaki SA-12 (commonly referred to as just BT).For mosquito/fungus gnat control you want bacillus thuringiensis, subspecies israaelenses (also known as BTI). Mosquito dunks have BTI. I ended up ordering something called 'Microbe Lift Mosquito Control Aquarium Treatment', the active ingredient is BTI. I'll add it to all the water I use for the next couple of weeks at least.

For now I'm just going to ignore the leaves and move forward. She's just started on the @Remo Nutrients and she's drinking almost a liter every day, so she should be getting plenty of nutrients. She still seems to be growing well so I'm hoping she keeps going.

I have no idea other than stuff you've probably eliminated (like Im sure your roots look fine because youre the type that checks that first or second lol). Boron maybe, if not bugs?

I'm just happy that, even with the issues, she's so pretty and green. And she is definitely settled into the SIP and is growing quickly.

She's going to be pretty despite the mutations. Im excited for that gelato purple pink tinge and hoping it's in this pheno. Looking very forward to your smoke review of her when she's all done and cured off too.

Flowers are looking good either way!

Since you're not top watering, put a nice layer of DE on the top and kill whatever emerges from below. It won't work when wet but you won't have that problem!
You're right, it should work really well on the rocks. I keep DE in an old spice container in the grow room, I'm going down to do some sprinkling. I'll wear a mask as usual, DE can do some damage to the lungs.

Yeah..my fastbuds gelato has started complaining a little again also.
Like yours it had a horrendous first 2 weeks, sorted itself out on week 3-4,exploded with growth week 5 then went in to flower and started complaining again.
I'm getting brown spotting here and there with the lowers going pale in to week 7.
Mine is still flowering well, I've just diagnosed it as 'a greedy girl going into heavy flower' and upped the npk and a bit of calmag. Over all doing well and is starting to smell strong.
I wonder if yours will do similar?

Good morning Lukey Boy lol!

The fight your little girl has shown makes me big smile. I really hope you’re rewarded budelly.

They look great :)
I wish Gina would quit fighting so much, though. Hopefully she settles down now that she's on the @Remo Nutrients and buds up like crazy!

Thanks @Listersmeghead that's interesting. Gina's is getting around 1000ppm of Remo which includes Magnifical, their cal mag supplement. She should be getting plenty of calcium now, so if she continues showing spots I'll add a little epsom and see if some extra magnesium helps.

Nutrients - Remo Flower Week#1

Gina is loving her @Remo Nutrients lately. She finished her first 3 gallons of nutrients, and then a 2 liter drink of water. This morning her res was empty. I mixed up 5 gallons of week# 3 nutrients and gave her about 3.5 liters. I also added a drop or two of B.T.I. to kill any larvae in the SIP res. Along with the DE on top it should get rid of any fungus gnats.

Gina is looking health(ish) and is really putting on mass. She's stretching and building with those huge SIP stems. I've had to back the @VIVOSUN AeroLight up a couple of times as she grows. I'm trying to keep it at 14" away until she is done stretching.

I've done just enough LST to keep her spread out and to keep any colas from becoming dominant. Yesterday she had two inner colas that were an inch or more above the others. I added a couple of wires and pulled them even. Until she is done stretching I want to keep the canopy as even as possible.

I really think it must be the gnats because she doesn't look like she's having any nutrient deficiencies. If that's the case then I'm really looking forward to watching her finish. Her colas are stacking beautifully and already getting frosty and she's only on day# 15 of flower. If I can keep her healthy she looks like she's ready to build some tasty buds :yummy:

I was going to say something like "Great job LKA!" but that pretty much pulled the air out of my post....triple LOL

She appreciates all the cheers. It still amazes me how quickly these ladies grow in the SIP. I was considering getting rid of her on 3/23. Look at this comparison to today, less than 3 weeks later.

Three weeks in plant time is way more than three weeks in human time. That condition holds until near the end of their lives. That's when 3 weeks of human time becomes way more than 3 weeks of plant time! :)

That's why I'm loving growing perpetual autos in the Vivosun Auto Oasis. There's always one that's green and growing to play with while the other is finishing up :)
