Date: 4/5/23 Day# 42
Medium - 5 gallon SIP bucket with FFHF soil
Nutrients - Remo Flower Week#1
Just when I thought her problems were behind her, Gina is complaining again. She has twisted brown spots on several new leaves. Maybe she didn't like her little defoliation? Something in the soil she doesn't like? I'll take any suggestions!
I did see some fungus gnats in her the other day so I'm wondering if it's bugs. I sprayed the rocks with peroxide, and I'm soaking some mosquito bits in water now to use for her next watering. I went on the 'zon looking for liquid BT today and learned there are two different types.
BT stands for bacillus thuringiensis, a species of bacteria that lives in soil and makes proteins that are toxic to some insects when eaten. It is generally safe for humans and animals. For caterpiller/moth control you want bacillus thuringiensis, subspecies kurstaki SA-12 (commonly referred to as just BT).For mosquito/fungus gnat control you want bacillus thuringiensis, subspecies israaelenses (also known as BTI). Mosquito dunks have BTI. I ended up ordering something called 'Microbe Lift Mosquito Control Aquarium Treatment', the active ingredient is BTI. I'll add it to all the water I use for the next couple of weeks at least.
For now I'm just going to ignore the leaves and move forward. She's just started on the @Remo Nutrients and she's drinking almost a liter every day, so she should be getting plenty of nutrients. She still seems to be growing well so I'm hoping she keeps going.
