Violet (Herbies Seeds Grandaddy Purple Auto)
Date: 11/3/23 Day# 103, Flower day# 59
Medium: 5G SIP Bucket with FFHF & Dynomyco
Nutrients: Water Only

Violet is getting plain well water in her res now. She's still drinking over 4L/day but looks like she might finally be slowing down.
Violet Tracker.png
Violet is starting to show me other signs that she is finishing up. Here are the five main signs I look for when harvesting:
  • Pistils turn orange/brown and crinkle into the bud. Except for foxtails, you want to see 90%+ of the hairs turn color and crinkle in.
    • Violet's have mostly all turned and crinkled. Even the lower buds are turned and mostly crinkled.
  • Calyx (buds) swell up like they're full of seeds. Where the brown pistils come out, it looks like the calyx is opening up and trying to swallow the pistil.
    • Violet's are just starting to swell, I can see some opening up too.
  • The smell will usually get really strong and change slightly, usually getting more skunky
    • The smell is definitely increasing, yesterday I smelled her as soon as I walked in the front door from my walk. The smell is getting skunkier and gassy too.
  • Branches will start sagging from the weight, especially side branches
    • She's been sagging for a while, but in the last couple of days her smaller outside branches are starting to sag as well. She has really put on some weight!
  • The plant will start drinking less and stay wet longer
    • It looks like she is slowing down but we'll see in the next couple of days
Everything I'm seeing says she's just about ready to harvest. If not for my camping trip with the kids this weekend I'd probably start taking her down tonight. She gets a little reprieve, through, at least a few more days. Early next week, though, it looks like I have quite the job ahead of me
:yummy:

Gorgeous chunky flowers
Thanks Shed, I'm really glad I flushed two weeks ago when she stopped drinking. She's really fattened up in the last couple of weeks.
and an excellent description of your harvest philosophy!
Thanks. I find looking at trichomes can be misleading. Reading the plant works much better for me.

Violet got her groove on now LKA, she just looks all sorts of swollen, and those colours just do it for me.
Thanks DV8. She is getting a lot more colorful in her last week or two, especially now that I stopped feeding her ;)
Pinky is definitely all kinds of sexed up, cant say Ive ever seen such spikes like that anywhere else. Like a thirst trap auto!
Thirst trap auto:rofl:

Gaby (Herbies Seeds Gorilla Glue #4 Auto)
Date: 11/6/23 Day# 7
Medium: 4" pot with FFHF soil & Dynomyco
Nutrients: None

Gaby got her first full watering yesterday afternoon. She was really dry so I took my time watering her, using well water with BTI & Great White (no nutrients).
Gaby Tracker.png
Gaby has some variegation on her leaves. It's quite pretty and not uncommon for early veg. I'll ignore it for now, especially since there's nothing I can do about it anyways ;) At the end of her first week she's starting on her third node already so I'm not worried. I'm actually expecting a little burst after her first full watering.

Pinky (Herbies Seeds Bubblegum Auto)
Date: 11/6/23 Day# 62 Fday# 31
Medium: 5G SIP Bucket with FFHF & Dynomyco
Nutrients: MC Blend (5gMC+1gMgN+.33BE - 148-50-182,114,64,51)

Pinky is doing great under her new 200W AeroLight Wing. She's packing on some dense-looking bud now and those branches are already getting heavy. She's getting nice and frosty and smelling wonderful. Luckily I'll be able to get the yo-yos from Violet soon, because it looks like she's going to need them!

Violet (Herbies Seeds Grandaddy Purple Auto)
Date: 11/3/23 Day# 106, Flower day# 62
Medium: 5G SIP Bucket with FFHF & Dynomyco
Nutrients: Water Only

I was gone camping for a little over 24 hours this weekend so I filled Violet right before I left. When I came back yesterday afternoon I expected her to be dry. I was not expecting the spider mite web I found on one of her colas:eek: I guess with her other leaf issues I never noticed them, or maybe they just got introduced to the tent recently. It was only on one cola right in front, so I sprayed that cola really well with SNS-217 and sprayed the vegetation around it. I was so tired I forgot to take a picture.

This morning there were no new webs or anything. However, it convinced me that it is time to harvest her. I was planning to harvest her this week anyways, this just got me moving. She's ready.

As much as I love the look of the yellow leaves, I went into the tent and pre-harvested her. I removed most of the big fans and yellow leaves. At one point I even crawled to the back-right corner of the tent to get some leaves.

What I didn't know is that tangled leaves was the only thing holding some of those colas up. After removing the leaves everything flopped to the outside and bunched up. But those colas:yummy:

Finally, I removed the yo-yos. At first she held up pretty well. When I went back later, she was in full flop. Probably a mistake, since she just slopped all over the sides of the tent. But tonight the harvest begins. We'll see when it ends...

Congrats on that GDP BudMan!

I'm a big fan of flop pics and yours was outstanding! :Rasta:

The Bubblegum looks "sweet" as well! :)

(Though I'm sure you know, be mindful of those borg. They could be on your clothes or even the yo-yo gadgets, or anywhere!)

This is my first flop, and I think she overdid it. I had to put a few yo-yos back on to keep her off the floor :)

She's really moving, probably the quickest auto I've grown yet.

Oh, don't I know it. I'll quarantine or spray everything that leaves that tent.

She looks beautiful, I am a big GDP fan, can't wait to hear your smoke report. Thanks for the "is she ready" tips, resonates with what I have been taught as well. You don't look at the trics?

Once GDB writes his "flop review" I know it's safe to visit. :)

Those really are some crazy spiky pistils on Pinky, and you'll be Justin Time with those yo-yos in there!
Thanks Shed. Yea, Pinky is putting on weight and sagging against the side of the tent. She needs a boost.
Violet looks great with those fans stripped and as usual there were some tall fat colas hiding in all that yellow. :welldone:on another one and have fun with the harvest.

Yea, she cleaned up nicely. Harvest started last night, but still have a ways to go...

Thanks 024. I can tell you that she has a real gassy aroma right now and is super sticky. The scissor hash last night was really nice.

I look at trics, but they can be misleading. The harvest signs I listed are much easier to see and gauge, especially the swollen calyx swallowing those brown and crinkled stigma. Once I see that I start looking at trics but they're usually cloudy with some amber by then. I also believe trics continue to mature with a long slow dry and cure.

Violet is a BEAST! My wife and I have trimmed for a couple of hours the past two nights. We have 8 hangers of bud in the drying closet and still a bit to go. Everything is super sticky and we've enjoyed several rounds of scissor hash. The house reeks of weed, too :)

Here she was after the first night. I had to tie back up the bigger colas to keep them off the floor. The smaller side branches weren't so lucky.

Here she is after the second night. There are still a few hangers of buds left in there, including that huge bud in the back-left standing on it's own. We're hoping to finish her up tonight.

Free the Floppers! :headbanger:

Congratulations on the plant-forced staggered harvest LKA! It's just keeps going and going...
Thanks Shed. It's much better than trying to harvest her all in one day.
It smells so good that every level of that drying rack has a great big smile. :thumb:
When I came back from my walk this morning I could smell it from the driveway!
