Lighting reflection?

high guys. My question is this. Since the soil in my buckets is dark and will absorb a certain amount of light. I was thinking about cutting some cardboard circles a little larger than my buckets making them reflective and placing them on top. My thinking is if I cut a 3/4"x7" slit for the main stalk to fit in them as well as cut a fin that sticks up to catch air from my fan and thus circulate air through the soil side I will gain some reflectivity. But I don't want to increase the chance of mold or any other bad things growing in my soil. Has anyone ever done this or can anyone give me some advise please. I know it probably wont help tremendously, but hey every little bit helps .

If I was you I would not do that. You would be asking for mold. Use sand on top of soil

Thanks that's kind of what I thought. But I thought I would put it out there and see what kind of response I got
