Day 55 since flip.

Buds are building nicely.

Good looking plants ^^ I think I liked the green pheno a little better for the ones I grew, I like the Panama from Snow a little better than the ACE one but either is fine.

The ACE version is a mix of Panama strains so you get the different phenos. The Snow Panama is from one strain, collected in the seventies.

This is my first long flowering sativa. So far I'm impressed with the way it builds. Do you think they will frost up much by harvest?
I seem to recall decent frost on mine. Not gonna be like a hybrid though. Cookies, Kush and all the other common ones today, are really frosty. Not an indication of a good high, and not a guarantee of high potency.

I've grown pure sativas outdoors in Canada, definitely a labour of love and their potency was not like hybrids, but the quality of the high was unsurpassed. Super up clean, high with no brain fog from indica genes.

It's all about that landrace sativa high for me too. Much prefer to be high and functional than to be stoned. Don't get me wrong, stoned still has a place and time but 99 percent of the time I reach for the durbs or malawi.
Malawi back in the day was electric, sadly never had pure Durban only half- Durban x Freeze. Great fast finisher in Canada, but I long for the pot I had in Lesotho too.

After almost 18 weeks of flowering, I took my Golden Tiger down. So I took her down last Friday, freeze dried over and wound up with 140g dried. It is very light Sativa structure but sticky as hell. First try was so-so but recent uses have been better, but still slightly disappointed. I was expecting a bigger head high/psychedelic effects. I find myself needing 3 bowls instead of my regular 2 I usually take. When I’m slightly tired it does introduce a bit of energy but and hour and a bit later, relaxation might make you sleepy. Smell like overripe mandarin oranges, have allergies/cold and so no real taste to describe. I overall prefer the effects of their Killer A5 Haze I also grew, but next grow I’m gonna try their Golden Tiger x Panama strain.

Congratulations on your harvest. Hope the smoke suits you better after a bit of jar time. Thanks for sharing.

Here are some landrace KwaZulu's from the fem seed run. They will each get another dusting next week to catch any fresh flowers and then get sprayed for the borg. I didn't want to do anything to the flowers during the pollination run.
Here are various landraces from different regions of KZN

Durban is a Kwazulu just a selected pheno from the Durban area. They are all related in my opinion. I believe the differences in terpenes and potency are from plants adapting and growing in specific regions. Some are cooler, some wetter, some drier and of course terrior definitely plays a big role.
So for hundreds or thousands of years, each variety has become something unique due to a specific location.
Malawi and Kwazulu are different. They have that African sativa buzz thats clear as hell and hits your head like a steamtrain. Malawi I find is a bit quicker and more racy.
Ive got some Malawi now growing thats absolutely devastating and even experienced smokers only need a pinner. I have some Kwazulu thats the same but less likely to give you a bad time because the ride is smoother. Not sure if that makes any sense.
Either way, if you smoke either one, you are likely to want to be doing something. Its tough to sit still. Defs a stimulating effect, just different degrees, terpenes, and potency.

That sounds fantastic, thanks for such a detailed reply to my question, Lerugged. As I mentioned before your seed collection is a gold mine. If only we could buy pot like that here in North America. I assume you've had Drakensberg weed, say from Lesotho. How would you describe it. Is it like Durban but less potent; it's been forty years since I smoked it and my memory is fading, all I remember is I liked it a lot and found it quite different from Mexican or Colombian weed.

I have some landrace lines from Lesotho which are similar but a little less potent yes.
There are different altitudes with the Drakensberg mountains on one side. So you have Lesotho on one side of the mountains and a region of Kwazulu natal on the other side. Then you have tropical rainforest in some sections, Varying degrees of humidity and very different types of soil throughout the province.
Personally the very best lines come from the area heading up to Mozambique. Around St Lucia and even up to Kosi bay is for me where the best lines come from.
There are differences in the strains collected from these areas even as close as St Lucia and Kosi are to each other, the cannabis landraces have different terpene profiles and physical expressions. In general there are ultra-thin leaved sativas as well as ones with slightly thicker leaves yet still pure landrace. Scents can be floral, citrus, manky green mango, lavender, aniseed, pine and always always an underlying scent of earth that runs through all the African sativas
Just like grapes are influenced by terrior so is cannabis. Well thats my belief and experiences with landrace sativas
