Not a true landrace, but a polihybrid of many landrace sativa....

Functional and favourite would be a landrace from the Kosi bay area in South Africa. I grow a couple trees every year. Then landrace Malawi gold.
Hey man save those seeds, they're like gold! I spent a couple years in Southern Africa and the weed there is great. I smoked some cobbed Malawi Wowie back in the day and there was nothing I could compare it to, so your weed from Kosi Bay must be spectacular. I wish everyone would save these great landrace seeds as the commercial weed nowadays is pretty much the same - very strong and debilitating. Pure sativas from the old countries are where its at.

Here she is. This heirloom I have named Miss Sticky. The mother is at least 18 years old although has revegged multiple times without loss in vigor or potency. Found A unique heavy aniseed pheno that popped up from the open pollination. aniseed and lavender. She is Hollys harvest and its heavenly once in a lifetime weed. peace

I preserve many landraces from all over Africa from very old seed lines. pretty much all I grow. :)

What incredible pictures Lerugger! I take it those are the Drakenburgs in the back ground. Wherever you are, your plants love the outdoors, what a feast for the eyes. I bet those buds are dynamite.

I'm smack bang in the middle of Cape Town cbd. I grow on a sundeck that's gets sun the entire day. That is Table Mountain in the background. They do indeed love the sun and rich soil and as much water as I give them, they will take.

Z &L, I think you guys need to share some love with your 420 buddies! ;);):passitleft:

You both have my admiration for preserving landraces. Wish I had the time, space and knowledge…
Excellent point, and thanks for the love Medmanmike. If only we knew decades ago how valuable those seeds were that we threw out. I try to source landraces from all over the world and the RSC has many, but there are other seed companies from different countries that sell landraces, two in Spain, and one in France I've been successful with as well. Not sure if on this site I can say their names (I was reprimanded once before for doing that) I can say my favourite landraces come Africa, the Reunion Island and Thailand, but man I'd love to have seeds from South America and Mexico as well.

Lucky you, Lerugger, I climbed Table Mountain once; Capetown is an incredibly beautiful city with a perfect climate for growing, super envious being from Canada with the temp of 4 degrees this morning.

Good evening Lerugged.
In picture #2, we see ground cover around your lady. I think I see clover or alfalfa (say "alfalfa" six times).
Are there any other perennials you like to establish in there?

By the way, nice shot with the salamander. Did it come here all by itself?

Clover and marigolds. It gets so windy in summer that is the only way to keep the sand in the pots and obvs all thetypes other benefits of companion plants. I have an olive tree in a pot that is kept unhealthy and as a result all the crawlers are attracted to it. Like a decoy. I get one predator on each plant. This year I have praying mantis on one, a crab spider on a marigold in another pot. The olive tree is crawling with lady bugs too and they make their way through all my plants pretty much every day. The lizards just rock up.
The cover crops pretty much just seed themselves over and over again. Dying off and then getting reestablished in winter. Makes night and day difference to soil quality and moisture retention in the wind having the cover crops always holding the soil in place. Top dress straight on top of the cover crops and water. Winning formula in my humble opinion

Good morning.
Here's a little update on my Mountain Gold grow.
I had a little trouble with watering. It might have been related to my substrate. I used a popular "organic seed and germination" mix, containing coco coir.
Anyone cares to share some input on choice of substrate for germination?
Anyway, here's a picture. I repotted them in 1 gallon fabric pots. I think they'll survive.
