Landrace Genetics 101

Good to know. I’m at 42.8° and elev of 663 in a fruit belt area East side of Lake Michigan. Might actually be able to grow the PS outside!

They will love it there, lets keep our fingers crossed for a old fashion dry, warm, long, sunny summer for a change.

She is making progress. Hoping between the Mexican and the Afghani she has a reasonable flowering time. Took her out for pics and the exhaust fan blasted her stank through my little abode.

Yield should be nice.
Great to see the tri nodes running up her length.

I've never grown a plant like this. If she would have looked weird I would have culled her a ways back. That symmetry saved her life.

Found another supposed landrace sativa, Vietnam Black, in a new dispensary.

I needed another gram like the pacific garbage patch needs more plastic (I’ve still got over an oz from what I grew in ’17!), but had to give it a try.

There’s no knowing if what I picked up is the real deal, but I try to support places that carry landraces and get them in folks’ consciousness.*

The VB is quite good. Upper, with a helluva creep & really long-lasting 4 hr buzz. Very mind-bending. Dieselish nose, tasted earthy & woody.

Blackish cast to the bud, not very prominent hairs. Obviously sun-grown, which I prefer anyway. Cheap, too. (It’s all stupid cheap in OR these days).

*I’m not positive that consumer interest will help maintain & bring back landraces, but it might:

A week ago I talked with a master gardener who has some local notoriety for helping bring back some heirloom fruit tree lines and urban beekeeping (years ago, he converted his small urban backyard into a heirloom fruit tree grove with apiary). His words on those heirlooms: “It’s critical to grow them so that people can try them & create a demand for them, so that they’ll continue to be grown. Otherwise, they’re going to disappear like so many already have.”

Quiet place... how about a thin leaf 3 way cross? She is getting older.

About 7 weeks in flower.

^^Gorgeous!! Great work!

Thanks. I think she will land on the fluffy side. But she stinks up the house so nice when I pull her out for pics. Actually considering making the entire plant into hash due to that aroma.

:thumb:

What does that smell like @tropics ? For some reason, my nose twitched cherry when I saw it... :hmmmm:

Very nicely done! :bravo:

Hey GT!
THANKS MAN!
Actually the smell is more menthol, citrus, slight pine.

Hawaiian pine huh? :hmmmm: I got heavy pine off a Panama once ... I wonder if it doesn't have Mexican in it ... A California blend brought to Hawaii?

I'd like to hear how it cures. You got my attention with that one - chunky sativa buds full of foxtails - that's hard to produce. And no fugups over 14 long weeks. :laughtwo:

:bravo:

I'd smoke hash made from that...if I could!
