LadyVadalon - Soil - BWS - Querkle - GhostTrain - SpaceBomb - Grow 3 - February 2014

Re: LadyVadalon - Soil - BWS - Querkle - GhostTrain - SpaceBomb - Grow 3 - February 2

LED's are kinda scary expensive, and do have a problematic reputation.

I would have never bought one for myself at this point, but am grateful to be testing one.

It is changing my mind about them, but even now I'm waiting to see my outcome.

Seems to be doing fine for veg, but I haven't run a full cycle yet.

I'll know more after I flower my first run.

The unit I'm testing is 700 bucks.

That's a good chunk of change to lay out when you know the cost of an HID light.

HID lights are proven a million times over to grow great cannabis, and have a lower initial cost.

LED lights last much longer, and save $$ on electricity, so LED might pay for itself.

LED's also have gotten a bad reputation because of false claims made by many vendors.

Even now it's hard to say how much is reality, and how much is false advertizing.

Even after a complete grow it's might be too soon to say it's worthwhile.

I have always believed LED's have a place in the future of indoor growing tho.

I like them but I do not really have anything to compare with. Last August was my final decision of light I was going to go with. But research prier to that was very limited at the time. High Times was the only one that had done anything with the LED's So, I went with what was tested on the cannabis. The plants that are in this tent are under T8s And have been for a long time. I have different spectrums in different slots to provide the light that is needed. In my BWS bloom now I have my two LEDs and supplementing with t8s. I found a light chart and I changed the bulbs out to warm for the boom cycle.

I do not remember all the technical jargon for the different type of light/ looms

I absolutely love my LED lights. I don't have to worry about heat issues, they don't pull much power especially in veg and they are easy to work with. Mine were no where as expensive as Tokers but I wouldn't try anything else now. Just my 2 cents and it ain't worth that.....:circle-of-love:

I like mine but, LA's god light looks mighty good to me. They are easy to work with and no heat issues that is for sure. So I did not have to go purchase more equipment for that issue. Mine are 250w and i am great full that I went that rout. My electricity is split between two units. My laser printer makes my lights flicker. My pops has a friend and he came in and set me up so I was not popping breakers.:whoa:

Happy to hear you got the breaker situation taken care of. No fun to have one of those pop and not realize it in time!

I had hooked a UPS up to my modem so, when it would pop the UPS would beep. I was wondering what people use to protect the investment of lights? Without going commercial grade on an UPS, I can not seem to find anything that will handle the wattage. Maybe I am not looking for the right product? All my electrical things are plugged into an UPS, TVs, computers and DVD players. So, what is used for this equipment?

Feb 15 2014 was the first day of the gender test it is now April 15. The old pistils have fallen off after the last set of photos that showed leaf deformation/ mutilation. Last week I had posted photos of this. Now they are starting to get new growth and the plant is starting to grow healthy leafs.

So, this process has taken 2 months total to go back into a full veg. I do not know if this is because they have been under 24/0 all this time. Not getting any rest with the 18/6.

Snakelad,

SmokerJoe had posted a really good home remedy for this issue. So, far I have manage to keep my tents virgin :wood:
I am worried about earwigs. Does anyone know of something for them?

Some homemade insecticides:

Garlic water insecticide
Skin a clove of garlic then mash them up well. Add the well mashed garlic to boiling water and let it steep for 15 minutes. Use a strainer to strain out the garlic so just the water passes through the strainer then add to spray bottle.

Tobacco water insecticide
Take some tobacco and place it in a tea filter or I suppose you could put it in a coffee filter and staple it closed. Put it into the container and pour boiling water on it and let that steep for about 10 minutes then strain that into the spray bottle.

Soap water insecticide
Mix a tablespoon of dish soap per every quart of water you use mix it well leave on plants for 20 minutes and then spray that with clean water to eliminate the soapy residue. This will dry out the bugs. Thrips, whiteflies, spider mites, aphids, ants, springtails, silverfish.

I hope this helps

Re: LadyVadalon - Soil - BWS - Querkle - GhostTrain - SpaceBomb - Grow 3 - February 2

Small update:

We did some watering with PH adjusted water they were a bit dry so, once more just watered until the air bubbles stopped. I don't mind watering in this fashion. O.K don't toss rocks at me... but I set my buckets up on buckets to catch the water that is ran through my plants. I reuse the water because it already has nutrients in it from the water going through the pots. I have not lost one plant from doing this and it saves me lots of money from doing water runs.

Tomorrow I am going to the hardware store to get 2x4s to make a frame for the wire. The plants are starting to get unruly with just tying them down. I was going to get 2" eye hooks and slide rebar through them and attach the wire to that but I changed my mind :)
