Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

I have a Secret Jardin tent, so I have a rectangular air intake low to the floor on the right side, and my carbon filter is top left. I have a 175 CFM exhaust fan, so sized about right on for my tent. I place the humidifier as close to the intake as I can. With the tent closed up and the fan running, If I have the lights off in the room (but on in the tent), I can see the humid air coming up out of the humidifier and instantly being sucked into the intake. I get a little condensation on the intake (it is screened over to keep pests out) but not much. I can only assume all else then beelines up to the carbon filter - which takes it right across the top of my plants. I'm getting 55% in my basement which is an unwavering 40% on its own. I bet it could even go higher with a bigger humidifier or on a higher setting.

My tent is in a room without windows, so I can afford to keep the intake wide open and not spill light in. I also had to put electrical tape over the lights on the humidifier. Not sure if keeping an intake open might be a light bleed issue for you, but it's something else to consider.

I'm not sure what's ideal, but most of what I read said aim for 40-70% in veg so I figure 55% is a good place to be!

Good luck!

Looking good, Scorpio. :thumb: I can't wait to see some real growth on mine.

re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

DobeWan, your setup sounds very similar to mine. My vivosun tent has the carbon filter in the top left, air vent is open on the bottom right, and the humidifier is right next to the open vent. Thankfully, it is in a dark basement so I don't have to worry about light bleed, but you make a good point to cover any light that might be coming from something inside the tent (need to double check that). I'll be happy with my 50 something RH and not sweat it too much. :) Thanks!

I can't get my tents to stay over 40% most the time...dang desert...but they seem pretty happy so far

Day 5V

Getting bigger! I notice the new leaves are a little yellower than I expected, but all the posts I've found here seems to point to this being normal. Nutes are at 5.6 PH and runoff comes out at 6.3 - As long as I'm under 6.5, it's still good, right?

Looking good. Those popcicle sticks are wicking up alot of water. Make sure you are not over watering. Yellowing leaves can be an early sign of over watering. Your grow looks great.

Thanks, Gauge. I'll keep an eye on the water. I was using the popcicle sticks as a moisture signal. If the stick looks dry then I'll water til runoff. Might try to skip a watering though and see what happens.

I'm a gonna put that technical gem and place that in the Gaugetown bulletin for all to see. Brilliant! Good job LA

Thank you! Please, feel free to share. It seems overwatering is what plagues most first-time growers. I was trying to think of a very simple and cheap way to keep an eye on the moisture level without disturbing the plants. Popsicle sticks are in every craft store, or they can just be cleaned and saved if you have someone in your house that eats popsicles. Or maybe just a great excuse to buy a box of your favorite ice cream bar. :)

re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

I thought it was pretty hard to overwater coco.
I didn't have those yellow leaves...keep an eye on that.

How are you planning to deal with the plants once they get bigger in one tent, as they have different times and maybe sizes?
I planted all the same variate (3 plants). But I would have liked to mayybe do 2 and 1 of a different kind (one high THC and one CBD for instance). But was told that it may get tricky in the flowering stage.

I'm curious on challlenges and solutions. Please share a pic of the whole setup also , for the fans =).

And a stupid newie question....how do you guys add a signature to your posts?

Will do. Thinking I might do a distilled water only for the next time to see if there is any difference.

That's an excellent question! I knew going into this that there was a chance my flowering times would not line up. If they do, that would be great, but I have a feeling Northern Lights might go quickly based on my reading of the strain. I figure that if I have to split them up, it will be a good time to invest in another tent and light..... I will eventually need more room to have a perpetual grow setup anyway. These tinctures, oils, creams, etc aren't going to make themselves and I'll need a well stocked pantry.

Thanks for the reminder about my setup! I keep meaning to take a picture of that.

Only stupid questions are the ones not asked. Click on the word "settings" in the top right. Then, look to the left of the screen where there will be a tab called "settings". Click the one that says "Edit Signature." Have fun! Mine is very plain, but some have figured out all kinds of formatting options.

Good question Chipay,

Just keep the plants in veg untill they are all ready for flower. Now some may start to show pre flower and some may not benefit from a long enough veg however that's how the cookie crumbles when you grow multiple strains at the same time in one growing enviorment.
The real issue is not knowing why one plant is loving what is going on, one plant is ok , one is dying and one is ok but not growing.
Each strain seems to like different levels of nute's, humidity, water, pH.
Some strains come from equatorial regions of the world while others are from colder wetter areas, so temp may help some and hurt some and finding that perfect temp as the outside inside temp constantly changes as summer approaches.
Some are going to grow taller blocking the light to other plants. The shaded plants won't use as much food and water while the sun soaking plants will use much more. Maybe, depends on the strain. But as sunny plants eat, the PH will change for sure.

Getting familiar with how MJ grows on a cellular botanical level let's you understand how a pH / EC pen works for you. How the solution you pour in minus the solution that comes out, is "basically" what your plant is eating and drinking.
All this and more whirls around in my mind and is why I cannot imagine growing in soil. So slow to re act. Difficult to monitor and I am not smart enough to not over water or over nute.

way back in the day, when i first started, I grew in soil. I think it is good for novices, as the dirt provides a good buffer. When I started reading about all the different forms of hydro, I was scared of how complicated it looked. I couldn't imagine growing in water, and how quickly it could go south.

started playing with DWC and found out it is not that difficult.. it has its own challenges, but growth is insane.

so I think it is all in perspective, what you know is easy, what you dont looks daunting..

Yep. The best thing I ever realized was during the middle of a difficult time several years ago: major changes to diet, self injections, and other meds that I had to keep track of. Then I remembered the power of habit.

It all came down to: It is only difficult until it becomes routine.

Awful quite around here. I was thinking you need to grow some LA confidential. You can tell everyone the LA is named for you, but that it's all confidential. . . .

re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

Hope this info helps with your coco grow.

The is a quote from ledrf.
1. Coco holds 30% oxygen when fully saturated.
2. If you let coco dry out, you will get lower yields and most likely nutrient issues because when the coco dries out, it leaves dry spots, where the roots dry up and die. That causes issues.
3. When you water every day or twice a day or ever three times a day, you are replacing all the oxygen the plant used up, thus letting it grow faster. You are also replacing any nutrients the plant used up with fresh nutrients. This is why I water every day with nutrients.
4. You get hydroponic results. Fast growth. Bigger yields.

Don't forget to keep your ph between 5.5-6.0. Most keep it at 5.8

For seedlings I water every day with a light nute solution but not to runoff. Just a very light splash until you notice that is not enough to keep the coco moist then i bump to runoff everyday.

Your plants look good though.
