I cannot fill them as the plants are not long enough to add soil. I am glad they are just sunflowers.
Great practice with cheap seeds!
You were right Joe, I didn't plant them deep enough, had to take the shells off 9 of them. LOL They look healthy enough, just misting with a fine mister and have them sitting in front of a window.

Yes, it is Shed I think I may pop a few more and toss these or just one. I want to put them in the garden later. It's fun using cheap seeds like sunflowers.

I have one small area near my pond that I plant them. About a 6 x 6 foot area, it's mostly for the birds and other flying critters that I photograph. Last year I only had a few seeds, two actually came up. The deer here nip any sprouts or shoots off before it has any time to grow.@Lady Cannafan thanks for the input. This time I decided to start them indoors and I have a dozen of them. I did not plant the seeds deep enough, learning curve. I'm going to transplant them into some deeper soil so they have root space. We'll see how that goes. LOL

@Lady Cannafan your pond area must look beautiful. I love watching deer, but they can be a big problem when it comes to small plants.

I have 3 more seeds floating and I will put them in a damp paper towel tomorrow. I will wait for tails this time as last time I just put them in the ground after about 9 hours floating no paper towel. I will also fill the solo with soil. I wish they were weed seeds, but it is just too early for them.
Between the deer and squirrels, we are lucky to get 1 or 2 tomatoes a year. It does keep them away from the flowers! But I prefer a homegrown 
!

The pond is almost 2 acres. The wildlife it attracts is never ending. The deer....I love watching them and watching the little ones grow up, but they can be destructive.@Lady Cannafan your pond area must look beautiful. Funny, I can grow a weed....but I struggle with flowers and other outdoor garden things.

I think it is going to be warmer here this week than in Chicago. I have rain this week which sucks. Brother you have some funky weather in Chicago, warm than cold and let's throw a little snow in there. I just hope it does not rain all spring and summer like last year. Have a great day Capt.
