KCCO Grows Hydro

Man that looks great @KCCO 77

Hope that trimmer works out for you. Loved...i just love that pic of the lemon skunk

Edit for some questions.

I just saw your conversation on GG's journal for the RO and had a quick question. Are you using a water softener as well? Any issues having the RO after water has been softened?
Any recommendations for well water high in Iron?

Thanks!!!!

Hey brother no problem at all I don’t think putting it after the softener and I think it probably easier on it. Im definitely not a plumber but after paying a few to do some basic work that wasn’t even up to my OCD I’ve learned to do most of it.
Being on a well it also very helpful to know how it’s all working and I can honestly say I’ve rebuilt my system from top to bottom using pex and much better sediment filter, uv light and charcoal blocks all mounted nicely with a bypass for my hose.

Not sure about getting rid of the iron because I have high iron and calcium from my well.
First my water goes through a sediment filter then softener then uv light then charcoal block. Now it’s good to drink but not to grow because the ec is still high.
Then I run it through RO and it’s completely clean.

R you on a well now or city water?
well or city when you move?

I'm on city right now but will be on well water after the move. I'm looking at two RO systems, one in the kitchen for us, and one out in the garage for growing. Still in the planning stage as I think I'll have a big job of digging a trench to bury a water line all the way out there (best long term solution).

I know there's a big well done system in the house, I'm at total newb level when it comes to it though in all honesty. Grew up in the country but moved into the city as a youth chasing work.

All good just make sure to test the well water for the new house before any filtration before you buy the house.

Well and septic r big ticket services on a country property and you don’t want any surprises with these two.

The trench is probably your best bet for long term growing and your back lol.

Lots for you to think about once the dust settles and if you have any questions I’m always around.

play safe and enjoy my friend

Hey everyone I hope all is good.

Beautiful healthy looking ladies my friend. :cheer:

Hey 420 I hope all is good. I’ve been getting the equipment taken apart and disinfected in the flower room over the last few day.

I have to clean my lights and fans and swap in a new filter.

Really only one thing left to do since I have a clean system and a bunch of plants ready to go

Maybe I will wait until my last crop is dried. Maybe not lol

Speaking of last crop here’s the trimmed bud from the trimmer

It is a very mechanical process (rough) and there’s a lot of prep work that you have to do first before feeding it.
However it shaved between 16 and 20 hrs of trimming so in my eyes worth every penny.
I would not recommend it for a few plants but over here it’s perfect. I did end up with close to a QP of sugar leaf and bud trimming that ends up in the trim bag. This may not be good for some but anyone who’s followed my journal knows it will be one type of concentrate or another along with everything else.

Play safe and enjoy everyone

Oh now I really want one.
Nice pictures and break down, answers a lot of questions. How long does it take to prep/dismantle and clean?

And...those are some gorgeous nugs, can't wait to see them cured!
:bravo:

Hey brother how r things? Preparing the machine was easy its just a few parts. Putting together and taking apart to clean is quick. Cleaning it back to new took about 1 hr. Preparing the buds takes a bit. You have to get the big wood and fan leaves off so you can’t leave your buds huge but after that you dump it in a few Ozs at a time and in about 1 minute open the discharge tray and out they come.

its is a pretty big unit so you need some space for it and it’s expensive but it did shave one full day off for me and my wife so it’s worth it to us.

Time is one of the most valuable things we have in life, and ill pay extra to save some time away from trimming.

Trimmer is on the list, won't be this year, but hopefully next. Space is no longer an issue :high-five: , it's just going to be working it into the budget.

We're counting down the days for the move, and I've got a list ready to order (if there's anything left over money wise after the move).

Nice I can’t wait to see a new setup. Get your water and electrical right and the rest can be figured out as you go to meet your needs. Make your new setup work for you and your needs

Thx brother means a lot. My back well it’s shot but all in all nothing out of the norm. Planted the seed taking the system apart.... oh babe my back is starting to hurt and boom wifey cleaned it all lol. She’s definitely the better half and I’d probably be dead without her lmao

That nifty truck bed-looking thing is a flood table? for NFT right? I like the idea of no more buckets (or only one res :D )
Hey there I hope all is good. Yes flood and drain table / ebb and flow/ setup is correct.
This setup I just use for veg because of the small footprint and ease of use. These setups are very efficient and lots use them for flower but I don’t.
Out of my setups it’s definitely the easiest to work with once you have things figured out.

As long as you don’t think RDWC when using this setup it’s great. Different principles apply growing this style.

Play safe and enjoy

hey @Rexer I don’t know the size of your operation I know KC is a licensed grower but if I can offer , more affordable options are a trim bag, or a spinner. The spinner is good for wet bud but still a little hand manicure is ideal, and the trim bags works my cougar flaps ( ya know the fat women collect on the back of their arms . Haha ). but the bud needs to be very dry and you can build one with a bucket and a screen vs. $300 ..if you you tube ‘ bucket trim’ ‘ a video or three should pop up ..hope this helps!
I agree , time is the only thing we shouldn’t waste...there is only One guarantee in life and thats we all die ...carpe diem !

Hey NH!
Thanks for that, I'll take a look at it, but I need something that's mechanical and does most of the work (makes my nerve damage easier to keep a handle on)...certain motions/movements are a killer pain wise.
I've read a bit on the bucket trim, I'll look more into it. I had been looking into the spinners originally (as I want one for wet trim), till KC got my new gadget envy going

New operation will be scaled up over time. I'm a licensed grower as well now, and I can have 19 plants going indoors, though unless I do a SOG I doubt I'll have that many on the go.

Then I'm also legally allowed an extra 4 plants under the recreational that I can grow for the Mrs.

Glad the new neighbors are quite a distance away (maybe 1/2 km?).
