KB Follows The Hi Brix Road In DBHBB

100% vegan is not truly possible beyond what's visible to the human eye, with soil/rock being full of dead animals and plants and such, but a good way of making a vegajoy fertilizer where no new animals are killed in the process:
For vegging/growth; Nettle tea - fill a bucket with nettles and water and let it sit for a month.
For flowering/fruiting; Pomphrey tea - same procedure as Nettle tea.

You could also try No Till and maybe use EWC tea if you don't mind keeping pet worms and brewing tea off of their poop :)
Nice, thanks for the info. I’m not concerned with past life in the soil, I just don’t want to support the further death of life that comes from sourcing things such as the emulsified fish, etc...
I like making ACT with only earthworm castings, alfalfa, and black strap molasses.
Also like the ideas you gave, many thanks!

Vegan, what the French toast...

I only say that because I would never be able to do it, you have a stronger will than me lol l.
Eh, just a personal decision I and the wife made about a year ago... have felt so damn good I never looked back. I’m not 100% vegan really... what I eat is for sure but I do need leather boots for work and leather gloves. Is what it is... not many people have much respect for vegans either... probably cause a lot of them are pretty pushy and preach it... I try not to be that way. Everyone has their own choices to make in this life, and you only get one life to make the right choices.

Say it ain't so Daj! Won't use fish oil but will murder cows for leather. I don't get it but to each his or her own. Only been a few days with out meat but doing good. Did have a little butter in my rice, so naughty! I know a couple pushy vegans and yes, it's very annoying. I don't see you like that Daj but you are proud of your choice and offer up suggestions and help to people like me. Thanks bud!

Well the thing about leather is that the cows are already being grown and used anyway, the leather is basically just a biproduct of the meat industry. So no, I’m not killing or ordering them killed for leather... that’s already being done.

No problem Ween, anytime someone inquired or needs help I’m always willing to provide good links!

I can definitely see the health benefits from doing that lifestyle, should probably change my drinking habits, I can crush some energy drinks not alcohol, I know that's what y'all were thinking! :p
Yea those enery drinks are a vicious cycle... you know drinking them will just make you more tired in the long run, and make you feel like shit... but if you wanna feel “normal” you continue to drink em...

Clover is a good cover crop, it draws N from the air and release it into the soil.

I saw the Nettle/Pomphrey trick on Gardener's World on BBC (super chill British gardening show) a couple of years back, and later found out a local underground breeder has been doing it for decades :)

You can all say what you want about vegans, but they're certainly not the ones poisoning groundwater and torturing animals on an industrial scale for profit, so however silly their ideas might seem to us vikings, I won't be spending any time vegabashing ;)

You can't really call yourself a vegan Daj. I get it, you need the boots and gloves for work. A full on vegan would probably be mortified, ha! it's a bit of a slippery slope bud saying leather is a biproduct, actually a quick Google search says that is a myth, see below.

"Most people are led to believe that leather is a byproduct of the meat industry — that it’s simply a “leftover,” and if we don’t use it, it will go to waste. This is a common misconception — and one that I used to believe myself. The truth is that much of the leather sold today comes from animals killed primarily for their skins.

Leather is not a byproduct, and it isn’t produced in efforts to minimize waste. It’s produced because it is a highly profitable and lucrative business. A cow’s skin is approximately 10 percent of her total value, making it the most profitable part of her body. Surprisingly, leather actually makes the meat industry more sustainable — as selling skins is very profitable, while meat isn’t always so — not the other way around.

The majority of leather comes from India’s cows, who are abused, beaten and poisonedin the production process. As India forbids the slaughter of cows, these poor, innocent animals are forced to endure brutal and grueling journeys where they are confronted with an unimaginable end."

Yea kinda figured this might be the case, that’s why I never searched it. If I could find something just as reliable but not an animal product, I’d definitely be doing that. It’s ok, I feel good physically not eating animals... but you do have me pretty bummed now. I’m a sorry excuse for a vegan...

Sorry Daj! You're doing your part and now that you know, maybe you'll find Ann alternative. My gf said there is vegan leather, not sure if they make workboots or gloves though. Worth looking into. What the heck is vegan leather made from!?!?

Awesome Duggs, sounds like a well rounded diet!
Enjoy your as well sir! :passitleft:
Hit me with your favorite vegan dish. I really enjoy trying new things, went to a ramen bar last month and waiting on this new Thai food place to open up so I can try.
Honestly KB, I really like simple meals. My fave is really simple: can or refried black beans... no lard of course, then just some basmati rice cooked up and then throw some rotel in there and your good to go. Splat some beans down, throw rice on top and eat with Santitas tortilla chips... easy man!

Really I get most my nutrition through my smoothies... I make two big 1200-1500 calorie smoothies everyday. They have 13 ingredients...

Most the time the wife cooks, so really I don’t know how she puts most things together. But I’ll see about posting her peanut soup... that shit is good!

Killer,...careful with the Thai food......:hmmmm:

Never had it so need to get me some

Ya I'll take anything other than Mexican food lol. Living in the south I'm just so burn out on it, not sure which there is more of taco stands or churches bahh.

 So true KB!!! Sorry... I’m the kind of person that eats to live, not lives to eat. Seriously it’s such an inconvenience to have to eat so much. Damn super fast metabolism has me hating food. I mean, I like the flavors in food and drinks... but really I’m fine with water... if I could just live off that I’d be good!
Lemme see if I can get that peanut soup recipe out her, if so I’ll post it.
