Katins's 2nd Micro Grow - White Widow Fem - 1 Square Foot Under LED

Hope you dont mind if I follow along. I have read recently that a purple seedling stalk and leaves is a sign of Mg deficiency? This is more of a question than a diagnosis, I had a seedling exhibit the same coloring but not to the extent as yours but it grew out of it fairly quickly.

Purple stems could be from anything in my opinion. It's usually best to just focus on new growth because some strains just naturally purple up like that under certain conditions... Hell my first successful grow was with my special queen #1 and she looked healthy as could be all the way to harvest yet she had purple stems and I remember worrying at first until others told me sometimes it just happens and to just watch the growth. But of course if you grow one strain again and again and again and it normally doesn't purple then yeah something may be up but if you are growing different strains every time I'd just focus on the leaves and their positions. I've been growing my SQ for over a year now and hopefully I can keep growing even if I need to relocate lol. Anyhow her first set of leaves are still green which leaves me to believe she has plenty of nutrients not including what's in the soil. if you feed this early you set yourself up to fail unless you are in coco.

Hey, I do not mind at all! Stick around, I'll post most ridiculous seedling pic in a couple of hours
Regarding deficiencys, I wouldn't believe that even if someone pay me for that I refuse to believe te plant with a few coin size leaves can have deficiencys. Especially when my water is ~300 ppm. Should be plenty of Mg in there.

Also that purple on your stems and leAves may be a temperature problem! What's your current temps and RH like?
Yep, it is temps if anything. Now the air temp stays at around 83 for the most part. But before the tweak they were higher. Aroung 86-87.
But those LED's radiate a lot of heat that thermometer on the wall does not pick up. I lowered the plant further down. You'll see the ridiculous reason why I did that, when I post the evening update pics
RH is high, as she is under the dome now. I ran into problems when I removed the dome. That was when tridents were just starting to grow.

Anyone for a deer hunt..? Haha

Seriously, what the heck is going on here..

To be honest everything looks like Mg deficiency to me its my go to... lol JK what is your pH at? did you get the heat under control? I think you said 87F, a little high but dont think it would cause this kind of heat stress.

I would say heat. It was a bit higher initially, but then I made a few tweaks all good now.
Might be pH as well, as by the looks of it there is a lot of peat in my soil. And last watering I had runoff at 5.3 pH. After I flushed it, it ended up at 5.8 pH and that is where I left it. Don't have a device to test soil pH. And the ones available to purchase locally are very big in size..

Hi K, I haven’t checked in for a while. Mmm - haven’t seen that buffalo horn shaped curling before .. I know sometimes leaves will do things like that to minimise over exposure to light/heat, but I’ve not seen that actual upcurl... Seems like there’s a few head scratchers for you with the new set up.
... still growing though! .

Anyways!!!! Back to the ladies. The temps around 80-85 aren't terrible, if they are stable at that and only dip, but not rise into the 90s you'll be okay!

Also!!!! Don't freak about that leaf curl too much. She looks fine for now. The first few sets of leaves are always wonky!!

Yeah, quite a few headscratchers to say least
But they pretty much are isolated. It is really one of the three - pH, heat (which is sorted out for a while now), and RH.
Now everything started when I removed the humidity dome. Was it the cause or just coincidence, i don't know. I put the dome back but now you see a deer portrait
Maybe, just maybe it can be K deficiency. But I don't believe in deficiemcys that early, so it will be at the end of "to watch out for" list

Regarding the plant, I am not freaking out, it is fun what boils my p*ss is not being sure what is causing it, and thoughts that the old lady at a grow shop sold some crap soil to me even though I explained what I need

And last, but not least, last time I checked, I was still "he"...

Doh! I was helping a fellow forum member and they were a she. Stuff blended together!!Haha.

To be quiet honest with you I don't think anything is really wrong with your plant. All the miscolor looks old! If you look at all the leaves in general they are reaching towards light. Your leaf tips aren't curled showing a nute problem, no discoloration.

I think you just have a happy plant reaching for the moon!!! Keep the humidity in the 60s and she will be fine. Here's my girls reaching up as well!

. I thought so, and then I was all... maybe K is a she...? Glad that’s cleared up then, thought my gender radar was out of alignment for a second there ;)

I think you’re right about deficiencies not being likely in such a young plant. I read somewhere once that there’s enough in what he little one gets from the seed pod to carry it for a while. You’ve got good patience K. It’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out...

Yeah, I went to check as well.. one can never be too sure...

Time will tell. I hope she will make it as I'll have to leave her on her own for a few days.

Assuming gender in 2017 psst.

Which version of White Widow did you get (ie breeder and/or seedbank)?

The curling could just be adjustment after slight change in environmental conditions when you removed the dome... likely it will settle

.
It is Greenhouse Seeds.

Yeah, I took off the dome a few days ago, just a few hours before lights out and in the morning I found the two first true leaves standing almost vertically :) there is a pic of that earlier in this thread.
Put the dome back instantly. So it may be the cause, but also it may be just a coincidence
