Jungle Joe Goes Off The Rails With Canuk Seeds

I've been thinking about the reason for the first plants demise, I think it's the light. Too much? Wrong colour for seedlings? The new lights are very red.
The reason I think it's the light is because the seedling was starting to shy away from the light, and when I turned one light off, it started to straighten up. Anyway, I've decided to go back to the small light for this first stage, and switch on the others when it's time to flower. I hope she doesn't freak out from the change of spectrum, I'll be watching closely.
As you can see the light sits in between the other ones like it was made to fit.
I've also added a humidity sensor/controller that will switch the humidifier on and off automatically.

The difference in the picture quality between the lights is quite surprising. Not so red now...

In case anyone is interested, this is the app I use for ppfd...

IMG_20231123_222437.jpg

It uses your phone's light sensor, does some mathematics etc, and spits out a number that's pretty close to the real deal. You just have to enter in your light type; led, halogen ,CMH, flourescent etc, and colour range

Of course it won't measure like a thousand dollar machine will, but it's a free app that works.

I use the photone app its free on Android and it can even calculate your DLI .
I've set it to luxury and compared it to my lux meter and its pretty much on point.
They are a handy tool to have .

I must say, technology does have its good points.

Since she's getting used to the new light now, I turned it up to 50% and moved it up slightly until I got the ppfd around 250ish. We'll see how she likes that.

I'm going to call her 'Tui'. Because I'm going to make this plant sing like a Tui...

For those of you who don't know, a Tui is a native New Zealand bird with a beautiful song (google it, they sound amazing)

It's pronounced Too-ee.

Nice looking setup. Look forward to watching her grow. I been using that app as well. Nice tool.
Thanks bud. Yeah it certainly makes it easier to dial the light in.
Right now all the growing is happening underground. Won't be long before she gets going above ground.

Beautiful bird with a nice song. :circle-of-love:

I was wondering why the hygrometer in the tent was different from the new setup, I thought I might need to calibrate it, so I checked with my multimeter.... and the cheap Chinese temp/humidity sensor I was using is lying... who'd have thought? At least the temperature sensor in it works, well it's reasonably close 😂
IMG20231126142725.jpg

The multimeter proves the new unit is working properly.

60 isn't bad, no 53 though.
Cheap units aren't always accurate.
Hope everything else is going well.
Take care.

I gave Tui her first real watering today, as well as topdressing and mulch.
The topdressing was about 6 cups of worm castings, a cup of kelp meal and a sprinkle of mycorrhizae. I worked it into the soil about 2 or 3 inches or so and then covered it with mulch. I made sure to stay away from the plant roots when I was digging around. The mulch I used is just the stuff for strawberrys.
I mixed up 1 gallon (5ltrs) of filtered water with fulvic acid and guano, and pH'd to 6, then watered all that good stuff into the soil.
It's a 30 gallon bag, that's over 100 litres of soil, so 5ltrs of water is nothing really.
Shouldn't need to water again for a week or three.

So far so good Bill, thanks.

I think they need better quality control but I doubt that'll happen
What did I expect for $11
