Jozo-sha's Getting Grounded - Air Pots, Dirt and OC+

Unbelievable! I can't believe how much they have grown in just a few days. WTG! :high-five:
Thank you, Herbal Annie - your support is a blessing :thanks:
Looking good!

As far as that Elsd goes, that looks like a classic case of Potassium problems, most likely due to too much magnesium.

Run about 3 gallons of RO with 5ml of Calmag though it....it's OK to PH this flush to about 6.8.

The old growth will not recover, but the new growth will....and all the green is still photosynthesizing.

You'll recover and get some good product!

Thanks Doc, I'll flush them both tonight -- who knew that growing our medicine could be so easy?:thanks::thanks::high-five:

i agree with doc 100%
take care of that and you will see them ramp up in growth too

Thanks so much! I did the flush tonight, and just trimmed off the dead foliage, and girls are back on track.

Now, for some news:

One of our 420 Magazine sponsors, Grow Stealth LED has provided me a GS300 Quantum Pro-Bloom to finish this grow out and do a dedicated journal as soon as this grow is finished.

I replaced one "Brand X" unit with Donnie's, rearranged some plants and took some pix -- the unit is well packed:

Good looking unit!

And the four plants I chose to finish their lives under the GS300, from top to bottom: Chocolope, Sweet Deep Grapefruit, A-Train #3 and Vanilla Kush

As soon as this grow has finished, I will do either a solo grow with the GS300 Pro-Bloom, or a side-by-side against "Brand X" Thanks again to Donnie at Grow Stealth LED for providing me this unit for testing! :thanks:

The GS300 looks pretty, Would love to pit it against what I'm running Since both are made specifically for flowering, Just gotta grab another DR60II and I might grab a GS300 for a vs's event against all 3 of my LED units I have. The LED I have now is really putting it's work in I'm running a total of 480W, what is the total wattage on your current grow?
:high-five:

Congrats on the new light. I am always interested in the comparisons between lights. The technology is improving so quickly that it's hard to keep up with them. I have my "Brand X" lights sitting this grow out while I do some comparisons of my own.

I think there are probably 3-4 really good light companies that sponsor here on 420. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them at this point. I'd be willing to bet that in a heads-up comparison of similar output lights, that the final yield would all be in the same ballpark, although that's just a guess. That is why we do the "comparos".

Keep up the great work.

Well, when I checked on the 4 underneath the GS300 right before I crashed, the leaves on all of them were REACHING like green hands towards the light!

Right now, I have 600W of LEDs in my tent.

Thanks brother! I was content with my lights, but Donnie insisted on me trying his units out, and I am glad to! I'm gonna get some panda film and start plotting out the comparison grow.

The GS300 looks looks ill

It is a very badass unit -- I'm quite impressed so far; the next 5 weeks will really show what the GS300 brings to the tent :bongrip:

Hey Zombo that GS600 Pro-Bloom grow is here: LEDBaby

Thanks thspot! I like it too.

Subscribed to that thread -- can't wait to see how the 600 does! :high-five:

And Donnie: :thanks: x 100000000 !

:thedoubletake:Wow, this grow is really taking off now! I'll be looking forward to a new comparison grow if you decide! I'm glad leds are becoming more accepted, they save $ and have proven to provide very good buds!

Stinkmeaner - news forthcoming, and yes, those girls are indeed taking off!

The new LED looks great! I'm looking to get more, will keep a close look at your grow with these. I'm sure the girls will produce lots with the 300w unit!

Thanks Twelve12 (great handle by the way)! Although this isn't a true side-by-side, I think I'll get an inkling of whats to come out of this GS300.

I did a bit of tidying tonight, and also hit the girls with 10-12 oz. each of molasses and Snow Storm Ultra just since my lovely girlfriend is coming over this weekend and I might get distracted :focus:

Since I have several of the Gro Bags and a single Smart Pot left, I decided tonight to pop some more beans :yummy: Into the germination pod went:

  • 5 - Super Silver Haze x Jack Herer (Regular)
  • 1 - Dinafem Blue Hash (Fem)
  • 1 - Homegrown Seeds NL (Fem)
  • 1 - Homegrown Seeds SPR Haze (Fem)

The single are UFO's from The Attitude (by the way, no fiscal attachment, just a satisfied customer) - those guys rock it. The SSH x JH were from a nice zip of meds I scored, figured pop half, cull out the guys and see how I like it -- with DocBud saying that sativas were ideal for 12/12 and GrowGSL said his lights turn sativas on bigtime, figured I'd pop some and check it out.

As soon as the beans do their thing, will put them in small nursery squares with straight FFOF into the mail tent under 12/12, cull the males of the SSH x Jack (Silver Jack?) and move the girls into my available fabric pots. Plan on using my standard FFOF/Roots mix with OC+ and for every gallon, a cup of DairyDoo. Sound like a plan?

I've seen so many threads on the use of molasses, with the same damned questions being asked over and over again, so I finally took initiative and wrote this:

Molasses use....

It's really SIMPLE:

Preparation
  • 1-2 tbsp. of unsulfured molasses per gallon of water. Brand does not matter, blackstrap or not doesn't matter. UNSULFURED matters.
  • Warm up the jar of molasses by sitting it in a big bowl of hot water for 10-15 minutes.
  • Before mixing up your nutes (if you're using them) pull a pint of the water per gallon aside and warm it up too.
  • Add one or two TABLESPOONS (15ml) of the warm molasses to the warm water. Mix until well dissolved.
  • Mix up your nutes, then add the molasses water.
  • Water as usual.
  • Mix up only enough solution for a single watering, as molasses water will grow bacteria and wild yeasts/fungi in short order -- if you really feel the urge to mix up a significant volume, keep it covered and refrigerated (under 40°F).

Usage
  • Use full strength anytime during flower.
  • Use every watering, every other watering or twice, doesn't MATTER.
  • Use in seedling/vegetative stages at 1/2 or less strength, adjust upwards if the babies like it.
  • Molasses feeds bacteria and fungi in soil, therefore will foster bacterial and fungal grow in your delicate hydro setups. NOT RECOMMENDED, OKAY?

Availability
  • Any major store that sells baking supplies
  • Horticultural molasses is available at home supply stores (check online, right?)
  • Feed stores have molasses too, cheap and good, almost always is blackstrap

I honestly hope that those who deign to actually read this post will realize by 'water', I mean the water you use to mix your nutes, if you use them, with any pre-treatments you'd normally use or not. You pH adjust your water? Do so. You use Cal-Mag? Do so. Savvy?

I hope this helps someone out. :peace:

Sounds like an excellent plan

Yep, just came home to 8/8 germinated - a wee dry, so some seed casing needs helping off on a couple, but I think they'll all pull through - I have high hopes for the SSH x Jack cross; many of my patients need the pain relief, but can't get slammed to the floor like my favorites Indies do!

Very clear explanation!
Let the questions begin....I'll ask the first couple:

1.)How much molasses to use?
2.)do you use sulfured or un-sulfured?

Why I oughtta! :rolleyes3

For a second there I was like this guy can't be serious and was gonna quote what zombo said but I realized its a funny! :high-five:

Just imagine me seeing DocBud's response on my phone! I was all like "WTF!" :)

Now on with business :focus:

The tent is getting quite full -- that said, I am seeing a distinct difference in the plants underneath the GS300 Pro-Bloom vs Brand X. I think the pics tell the story:

Despite my flush, still having some issues with a few of the plants and some nute lockout, looks like - especially with the Ell Ess Dee; part of getting better at this is just the time you have to invest in familiarity with your methodology, and how your plants and various strains react to those methods. Part of the method to my madness this time around (i.e. no clones taken, no trimming/lollipopping, just letting them go) is to to isolate characteristics that fit my space and grow hearty, whole meds with little intervention on my part. My patients will taste everything out of this grow, evaluate what works for their ailments, and report to me. I will compare that to what grew most robust, easiest, etc., etc. and work from that point. Does that make sense?

I also planted up the 8/8 seedlings tonight, into 50/50 Roots/FFOF and some OC+ (kinda my standard mix for the time being, as I shift more all-organic, I may drop the use of the prills). 12/12 out the gate; this is, I believe, the way I want to go, just makes more sense to me, the SDG seemed to like it!

Awesome. The GS300 looks like it will perform well. Never heard of Dairy Doo before. Seems like a good product, being 100% organic! Will ask the local hydro shop if they have it in stock. Looks like you got killer strains lineup. Have you done straight 12/12 from seed before? If so, how long does it usually veg for before blooming?
