Jon's First New Digs Grow

I don’t talk politics here on purpose, but today I’ll break my own rule. Jimmy Carter died. At 100 years old. I won’t speak to his presidency or politics. Everyone has their own opinion. But mine is that this man was more honest and good than any other politician in the entire history of this country. He was a creature of light. Never smoked or drank or did drugs or stole anything or dicked anyone over. One wife his entire life and they had an amazing relationship. When I look at today’s American politics, all I see is a grift in the extreme - a money grab along with and unimaginable cruelty and shortsightedness. No morals or even the attempt to be a good human being. That’s what we get starting January 20. Jimmy Carter broke the mold. He's a hero of mine - the only politician in that bunch. Amazing human being. And if you want to argue, go ahead. Make sure to name someone else who was actively building houses for poor people all over the world well into his 90s.

Cool alien story related to Jimmy. He was the ONLY president to ever file an official UFO report. And his briefing when he took office was given by Bush Sr. There is a famous and disturbing photo of Carter sitting at the desk after Bush briefed him on the situation with aliens. He has his head almost in his hands and he’s crying. Whatever he was told shook the man to his core. And Bush tells the story that he didn’t even tell him much, as that information is “given on a need to know basis” and Carter “didn’t need to know.” But he obviously heard enough. Crazy. The president doesn’t need to know. Christ.

RIP Mr. President. You will be sorely missed. Especially by this dude.

Okay I’m done. Thanks for the indulgence.

EDIT: I have one more story I just got reminded of. So before I moved to Florida, for the first two years of being handicapped, I worked at home as an editor. The company I worked for was founded and run by the highest level of religious scholar there is: he is the guy who started the Religious Studies division and program at Temple University. He was (into his mid 80s) the lead dog of every decision made to form that department. When I edited for him/them, he was around five years retired from Temple, and had begun this book company for post retirement, and I suppose to give himself a venue to see his thoughts in print. Almost 90. I no longer work there or keep up with them, but it’s significant to note that he the sole author at this company. He wrote book after book. I think 90-some. Most were around 100 pages, with a few shorties and a few longer ones. Many were written in some form already when he started, in notebooks and such. Their goal was to sell his work in book form to colleges for their own Religious Studies programs and classes. His focus was on the Jewish interpretation of Jesus Christ, but he taught everything. Hired every professor. Etc.

I tell you who he is in detail because I don’t want to name names here even though it likely wouldn’t matter. And also because it’s necessary to understand the honor that President Jimmy Carter bestowed on him.

People think he blew his chance at a second term mostly due to the Iranian hostage crisis, if you remember that. I won’t make an argument. However, the administration actually took amazing steps to try and resolve the problem. As it dragged on, Carter came up with the idea of sending over to Iran a negotiating team of sorts, comprised of all non governmental people. Heavy hitters. The idea was that the people they had to convince were Clerics. Religious folk big time. So Carter sent a group, like almost 15 people, that they researched and found, all of whom had significant knowledge about Iran’s religious landscape. The idea was, this group will be able to speak to them on a level that my government schwubs are not capable of.

My boss, the guy I edited about six books for, was selected as one member of this group. He literally flew there with them and tried to negotiate the hostage release by making a religious argument.

He didn’t give me details on that negotiating, for whatever reasons. So that’s as far as that goes. But just imagine. The President calls you and asks you - a civilian - to serve your country on the highest level. He spells out the idea, and asks him if he’d please do this.

What a fricking honor.

Ok now I really am done. Sorry. Lmao.
Hear hear!

I applaud you for having the courage to state your feelings jon!

It's a risky move, to say the least, on a site that is likely inhabited by left-wing nuts, right-wing nuts and all the other nuts along the spectrum! :Rasta:

I grew one as one of 9 plants in a competition grow. I took a dude on doing autos vs photos. No rules, grow however you want. But both must use a 5x5, and the winner was whoever yielded more. Nobody should EVER lose that contest growing photos. It shouldn’t be even close. I dusted him. Anyway, that grow was 9 autos in a 5x5 with three different grow methods, organic, coco, and hydro (with a top pot of coco - like a semi. Like a 2.5 gallon pot of coco atop a 5-gallon bucket. 7 different strains. One was BB. And it was amazing til I burned it up with unnecessary side lights. But there’s a good look at it in there. It’s a pretty good grow, I was in competition mode and I pulled out all the stops. Won JOTM, which Nick graciously gave to me, lol. We both posted in it. It was a both of ours. Fun as shit. If you want to see it here it is, if memory serves the BB is dead center.
Oh shizz bro you ain't lying just poking around it looks professional af ,nice👌 ladies look amazing n the grow room looks high tech af!! That does sound like a fun way to advertise and get people talking! How often they do stuff like that? Ty I gonna check it out

Jimmy Carter is a hero of mine too Jon! His work, the honesty, now this story of yours ices the cake! Better days are behind us! In that world!

It’s the only one I have done. Competition isn’t really the thing here or for me. I want everyone to be great at this. But Nick kept poking the bear and finally I said okay. Then I set out to dismantle him. If you do it you gotta get with the mods.

Day 93

Indica trichs then sativa trichs. Still not there.

I was taking trichome pics and I noticed this. This looks every bit to me like a three headed and three stemmed trichome. What do you think? It’s either that or it’s three trichomes separate growing out of basically the same spot. That’s a new one for me. Pretty cool. Wish I could get them all to do that. Lol.

Day 99

Today I have something I cannot identify and have absolutely no idea about.

If anyone can help me identify this and educate me I’d be eternally grateful.

Good morning Jon! Search for Guttation in cannabis. Cool! I haven't seen it in my grows but have in others.
or Xylem sap. I had a photo a long time ago with this on the bud. Seems I remember someone entered one a contest too....I could be wrong.
I thought a big bug had peed on mine. LOL

Here's a short explanation. I can't post the link, it's a non sponsor:

What causes cannabis guttation?

With high levels of soil moisture during the evening water, nutrients and minerals enter the root system. This creates a slight root pressure, forcing sap upwards through the plant. Note that root pressure, rather than transpiration, provides the primary force for the sap flow during the night. Cannabis guttation is more apparent when high RH (relative humidity) levels are present at night, suppressing the already-low evening transpiration levels to a minimum.

Without the ability to lose moisture through the (closed) stomata, occasionally the cannabis plant is compelled to force the ‘excess’ xylem sap out through water glands. These are also known as hydathodes.

Whilst cannabis guttation does little to add extra potency to your buds, many connoisseur growers enjoy seeing drops of xylem sap decorating their buds, providing extra eye candy to enhance the pleasure of cannabis home growing. Some strains are thought to be somewhat more prone than others at cannabis guttation. Guttation occurs in other plant species too, sometimes the sap droplets may appear on leaf edges or other locations on the plant/fungi.

Thanks so much! But it sounds like something that is basically the result of making a mistake?

I really don't know for sure, but it sounds like the RH during off light hours needs to be monitored.
That's the way I read it.
I'm sure there are others here who are more familiar with this. @Gee64 maybe?

Hey Jon✌️😊👊. Ladies are as gorgeous as always🥰. I've heard of it, but never seen it. I do have house plants that do it. A Pathos vine and a Monsterra. They do it when I give them a root drench every few months, usually before we travel. Have you given her a really heavy watering lately? Krissi has shown this before in a droughting thread I think. I think she called them thc diamonds, or something like that, but I don't think they are actually live rosin pouring out or we would all be doing it. Or maybe not too.

@Maritimer , have you seen this before?
