Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

I transplanted one of the girls under the 400w mh from a 6 gallon bag to a 10 gallon nursery pot with Supersoil yesterday, so far so good, I ll keep an eye on her for a few days and if I dont see any burning I ll transplant the rest:)

PS: BTW, a word of advice for anybody with a bad back, stay away from 10 gallon pots lol...holy crap these things are really heavy, easily 100 pounds after being watered. I think I ll be picking up some garbage can castors to move these things around.

I did manage to get a few pics of the veg rooms upgrades I did today though. with the new perpetual style im running now the veg room just wasnt working, the 4 plants closest to the door were getting to big for me to get in and out so I changed it all around and added another 400w MH and another florescent light, I like it alot better like this, now I have 3 proper zones:)

Thanks Shotta:Namaste:

Looking good, are you gonna flower at Subcool size or smaller?
Bigger, I bush mine out alot more than he does, they will probably be around 5.5 feet tall and 3.5 to 4 feet through the middle:)

yep lol...this ones getting a little long in the tooth I ll be starting another journal soon, the harvest starts sept 4th:)

hey jon, my ten gallon pots don't weigh that much...maybe half that....they get watered every fourth day....two hours before they start to wilt. They are taking 7 cups of water/nutrients....just for your reference. Sounds like the soil is ready....you shoulda noticed a problem pretty quick if the pots had roots exposed when you transplanted. Just for reference, here is my schedule; water, molasses, flower nutes.........water/molasses........water, molasses, veg nutes..........water molasses.....repeat.....just one example..........like I said...7 cups right now, if they start drying quicker....I go to 8 cups, but I don't want them taking more than three days to dry out....just me.

Good weed Mcloadie, we do things alot different bro, these 10's are new to me but in the 6 gallon bags they get 8 litres of either plain water or nutes each every 3 days give ot take, thats how long the bags take to dry out with plants this size, I let them dry right out and then fully saturate them, I dont like the idea of dry pockets in the soil. Im sure it will take a little longer with 10 gallon hard pots but the plants will be bigger so im assuming they will drink even more and probably dry out in 4 days max once they're established in they're new homes.I think room conditions also play a big part in how fast the pots dry out, there is ALOT of air movement in my rooms, theres fans at ground level moving the co2 around and 3 fans at canopy level, theres the scrubber moving alot of air as well as the a/c that moves alot of air too.The soil seems to be ready, all 8 plants are now in it and they seem to be loving it, the first plant got transplanted 4 days ago and she's looking great, im really exited to see how they do in flower in SS:)

Yeah, I know my pots are getting watered thoroughly....I get a slight bit of runoff, very slight, as long as they take water every 3 or four days it's all good. My space is much smaller, but I understand the importance of circulation...all my plants move all the time.......I run fans at three levels. I learned to give the plants just what they need...no more, that pots didn't need to be saturated....just no dry pockets....any excess is just washing the nutes out of the soil. Saturated may not be an accurate word....but you understand. I water around the perimeter of my pots only, and the water wicks in to the center....not many feeders toward the stem...they are mostly located as near as the drip line could be...which is the perimeter.

I dont understand how you get run off in 10 gallon pots with 7 cups of water bro, thats only 1.75 litres, you must have some seriously good draining soil, I get an inch of run off with 8 litres in the 6 gallon bags and an hr later its been wicked up into the promix, theres not a drop left in the trays.I guess promix must hold alot more water than organic soil, guess I ll find out soon enough lol

Looking great Jon! I am envious of your setup for sure. this is a fun thread to watch  . I am going out to get some more supplies today and pots was on the list. I was thinking of going with 5 gallon pots for flower and solo cups to start from seed after germination. Should I use an intermediate pot? Or should I go straight to my 5 gallon?

It's dr earth soil, and it is airy.........it fits the soil profile perfectly for drainage and compaction. My bro tells me his plants won't stand up in his soil once they get 4 feet....it's that loose, and full of red lava rock. IDK, but I feel like I'm watering correctly, and the plants reflect it. My 2 gallons are getting 2 cups each right now, no draining though, I'm sure I will have to increase it as I go, but 4 cups is a lot for my two gallon pots, they will run all over the floor with that much....full grown!

theres alot of different opinions on sizing up pots this is just mine lol...I think that using 3 different pot sizes will increase root ball density, my theory is if you go right from a dixie cup to a 5 gallon pot the roots will just stretch until they reach the sides of the pot and start to coil, I think that if you work up to the 5 gallon in 3 stages, say 1-3-5 for example you'll end up with alot more root mass by the time you flip. This is just my theory though, I could be totally wrong but thats how I like to do it and it seems to work well for me:)
