Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

I think the test should be in flower I know LEDs do a really job in Veg but the money shot is how do they do in flower??? The next Light I buy will be augmenting two SS400s' in a 6'x 4' room but in the end it's your choice. Just expressin my thoughts peace brother:peace::circle-of-love::goodjob:
I agree bro but it all depends on how big it is, if it can replace a 1000w hps that would be great but I doubt it, same goes for my led's, they also cover a 4 x 4 area each so unless its comparable I cant replace either of them with Sara's light.I do have a spot in between the hps and the led's with alot less light though, I could move one of my led's over a bit and give Sara's light its own spot over one plant but we will have to wait and see how big it is first:)

The admins of this site fixed the popup bs and man Jon those plants are looking awesome.
Thanks WB:Namaste:

looking great jon as always , which led light are you going to test from top led? Advanced led has a new arc series light coming out that i'd love to test. :)

:Namaste:
Its a new COB led panel they dont have on the market yet bro, its still in the testing phase as far as I know, I dont know anything else about it really Sara doesnt have the spec yet but I should have it next week:)

plants look great jon,

ive been checking out saras leds as well, im tempted to get one myself but if im going to replace my hps with it then i need to know if its going to do the job, im only running 1 x 400 watt dual spec at the minute but im setting up a veg room and possible a clone and seedling room, so if i flip over to led then its going to cost a bit for 3 lights, plus my space is 3ft by 3ft in flower room but ill possibly double this in a month or 2 then run the 3ft as the veg or clone room, im really not sure yet but i need a veg room for sure and a permanent flower room so i can stagger harvests,
leds are pretty expensive so ive i need enough for 3 rooms then i need to know its going to be worth the money invested, ive go the same problem with temps, my grow door is open when the lights are on as i have no way of cooling at the minute, i know leds run cooler and some have their own cooling fans but to drop a grand on lights is a big risk,
i will be running 3 rooms so leds will keep running costs down and temps way down, i know in the past leds have been very poor for growing but the last couple of years they have really come into their own,

i guess i wont know until i give them a try, its just the cost the concerns me vs end results

DP, just from what we've seen on this site we know LED's can substitute for HID, hell many outperform at the same wattage...The only way you'll get past the fear is to try some & TOPLED has the best prices I've found so far & a great warranty...If these grows go well you'll be able to see plenty more I'm sure, I know I'm in for 800w worth of panels given success from these grows!!!

Happy Friedday Jon and Mrs.705:circle-of-love:
BTW the reps were well deserved:)

thanks for the info, lets say i want to just replace the 400 watt dual spec hps, the lumins i get are around the 60k mark, i think i would benefit more from 600watt hps but not sure if they do dual spec bulbs in higher watts.

so lets say i want something that will replace a 600watt light, leds used to be very poor going back 5 to 10 years, many videos showing poor results but leds have now been designed more for growing instead of just basic lights, so the diodes have got better and the watts have increased, i was just put off by the cheap crap on a lot of sites, growers do buy the cheap ones and it produces poor results,

their is only one way im going to know for sure and thats by giving it a try, harley is chuffed with his plus as leds have a lot less heat coming from them then that means i can have the light lower,
i just dont know enough about leds to even begin to know which one would be best for my grow space, plus do saras come with fans as well as ive seen some with built in fans that cool the heat sinks,

it might be best if i pm sara and see what she suggests, i will set up 3 rooms pretty soon so my biggest room would be 4ft front to back then 6 to 7ft side to side, so ill need to get it all worked out and see what i need, if i stick with hid's then my running costs are going to be pretty high and my electric usage will possibly get flagged up,

theirs just lots of leds to choose from so knowing which one to choose is the problem, plus you all know if im happy with the product then ill be promoting it to every man and his dog like i do with herbies and a former sponsor,

Yep talking to Sara would be your best bet, as far as I know all the panels have cooling fans.I cant talk about my lights here because they arent sponsors sorry.

Don Paul

I directly replaced a 400 watt hood with a MH bulb with the panel in the test. This panel covers the same area, I have it only on the veg setting pulling (I think cause it is weird #) only around 150 watts. It is really doing well with just as much vegging stuff as I usually have under the 400 watt hood. It is quite a dramatic power savings and the plants are growing with far better structure than the 400 watt MH bulb... true.

thanks for the info both, i want to set up another 2 room so using hids would cost me a fortune, so if i went with the leds then i would not be far off the same power usage as the 400watt hid,

ill drop sara a msg when i get up and see what options i have.

we also have a new sponsor just joined the site and he sells some very nice nutrients and high times rewarded it in 2012, it looks like a very easy option for nutrients as it takes the mixing side of it out, plus he has got a sample pack at a low price so you can sample the products before buying a bigger amount, from what i have read it sounds like a very nice product and has great results,

the sponsor has also put 3 prizes up in the contest which is one of each bag,
hope you dont mind me posting the info here jon, ive posted it in a few journals so growers can check it out, when im out of nutes i think ill give it a try as im pretty much out of --- now, ran out of bloom and the grow is pretty much gone so need to find something for the next grow,

UPDATE
DAY 42 FROM THE FLIP
TEMPS 75 DAYTIME 70 NIGHTIME
CO2 1500 PPM

Things are looking really good for the most part, I found the pheno of Black Domina I was looking for, the nugs are easily twice the size of the other 3 phenos and hard as rocks. Theres a few plants one 8 Ball Kush one Black Domina and the a.m.s that seem like no matter how much nutes they get its just not enough, they are pale almost like a N deficiency but they are all still putting on more and more weight, I think its due to the plants being rootbound, the nute solution im feeding them is around 1750 ppm and it still doesn't seem like its enough.Theres only 20 days left so theres not much I can do, I ll be picking up the 7 gallon nursery pots pretty soon.
Full room view.

so after the outdoor harvest I put my trimmer in the basement and let the hash on the sides of the bowl dry out.Last night I scraped it all out with a small fillet knife then I put it in one of those food saver bags sucked all the air out of it and boiled it for a few mins then pressed it.This is a tecnique ive been using for years to get that old school black hash that my wife and I love so much. this stuff already has the old school flavor and the longer I let it sit the better its going to taste..but its so hard to leave it alone:)
