The history behind the Spittoon in my photo of the month entry:
My dear friend Elliott P. uncle was the "Prop" guy for John Wayne's cowboy movie's. When his uncle died, he gave Elliott a bunch of props from the JW movie's. For my 30th Birthday Elliott gave me one of the actual fancy Spittoons from the Saloon shoot out in John Wayne's final movie called "The Shootist". (1976) This movie stared John Wayne, Lauren Bacall, Ron Howard and James Stewart. It was filmed in Carson City Nevada. The Saloon scene was the filmed in the historical "Bucket of Blood" saloon in Virginia City Nevada.
Anyway, knowing that John Wayne was my hero and that I chewed Tabacco, it was the perfect gift.
Fast forward, for my 50th Birthday my friend Ginger took the old beat up Spittoon, cleaned it up and painted my favorite Lab on it.
So that's the history of the Spittoon.
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do these things to other people and I require the same of them"
