Jandre2k3's Intelligent-Gro Testing: Phase 1

I too have had this happen. I have talked with some friends who believe it's because the plant is actually dying and getting ready to fulfill it's destiny by sending out more pheromones for pollination. Because I have created intentionally seeds I noticed that there seems to be no stall when seed production is going on. I used to think I did something wrong as well and sometimes messed up by adding more nutes. Personally I find that instead of adding anything I actually cut back a bit on my nutes and this seems to speed things up a bit.

Just an observation not something I wanted to spend a lot of time on. I would suggest checking your PPM and see how much of your nutes are being used.

I was wondering if you changed something on your camera as the LED photo seems different.

Have a great day

Actually, I wasn't thinking something was wrong... I was simply commenting on how frustrating the time is, and how my mind can wander to places like that... Thanks for your input though.

As far as the camera goes, I'm haven't done anything different, but there are places where the light is much more intense than in other places. I try to white balance in post edit, and it still looks a bit strange. This is also the reason that the Pic du jour looks a lot better, because it is in the less intense light, so it can be white balanced better.

Thanks for the info. I have noticed that the HPS photo does show very good tricomes as well, which shows how good the comparisons are. Looks like both doing well even after the mite problem.

Thank you Jandre2k3!

I have also observed a stall when cannabis flowers between the pistil development and calyx swelling.

Wow!!
Jandre2k3, congratulations on out performance of growing such frosty and big buds under i-grow!
Seems grow under LED buds bigger than HPS, nice to see this!
400W HPS is net bulb wattage? if calculate the balaster, then total power consumption is 500W?
Red your post, i-grow 342, power consumption is 270W(included the balaster inbuild), means you save almost half power to have bigger buds?
Do I understand well?

The LED pic is slightly closer up, but you get the idea. Now that you mention it jandre, I haven't seen much growth the last 5 days. The plant's energy must be tied up in a hormonal shift.

As for the smell under HPS, it reminds me of green bell pepper x wet sawdust.

The ongoing comparison is still valid, even though the HPS cabinet had spider mites, then 2 spotted mites, and most recently parasitic nematodes. MK2 soldiers on & proudly raises the HPS flag.

400w + Ballast usage is correct. ~500w

LED power output is 342w while consumption remains closer to 270w. LED requires no ballast, as it uses the same voltage for the entire cycle, so the 270 draw is 270 flat, no ballast. There is a DRIVER, but that simply changes power type and cycles. There is a "sunrise" and "sunset" mode to the beginning and end of each day that uses far less than 270w, and there is an "intense" mode that uses a bit more than 270w, but all in all it still draws about an average of ~270w.

You understand, yes.

Thanks jandre2k3 for your explain.
I am following up LED for quiet quiet a longtime, as I had seen many LED grow video shows comparison vs HPS/HID, all of them claimed 50% power saved, but as I see the performance under LED was not as much good as under HPS.

But now when I see your grow, the outstanding of your products sweeten me a lot, I believe your products and technology is more developed.

I had red thought your journal again, I think the full power of your lamp is 270W means peak rate is 270W when you called it "intense", am I understand well?

Why I so focus on power saved, since as my thinking, LED is more expensive than HPS but still not stopping people to buy, just because of it is energy saving and less heat to handle comparing HPS.
more energy saving, less heat of wast, that is cycle.

50% power saved, it is an epochmaking changes, means technology is ready.

But still expecting your yield gram, will follow up your post through...

Anyone else have this reaction during this time? Am I just imagining this, or has anyone else experienced it? GAH!
:bitingnails:

This is when I am hyper-vigilant and if I have issues like mold I worry they are stalling from some attack that is not yet visible :cheesygrinsmiley:

Force your flash to fire and if it is strong enough it will overpower the LED/HPS light and offer a better image of the true color of the buds

Which way did he go George? Which way did he go?

Testing:

07/25/2014

So watching and waiting revealed a massive swell! You're going to love this update. I estimate about 1.5 to 2 weeks before harvest. . . . Maybe less.

Overall:

Macro:

Micro:

So notice something in the micro pics 1, and 2??? Amber.... Yup... it's on the sugar leaves, but NOT on the calyxes in pic 3... weird, huh? That's why I say it'll be about 10-14 days to harvest... I'm watching the calyxes diligently and waiting for the first amber triche on the flowers, then I'll pull.

Excellent update and while you waited I hope the fishing was good :cheesygrinsmiley:

nice plants and photos,

What kind of cam or macro lens?

I have been looking for an macro attachment for my Sony Cybershot and cant seem to find any.

All I see are ones that attach to iphones.

I had an older sony cybershot, and I used to zoom it out half way, turn out macro mode, and hold my 30x magnifying lupe to the lens..worked fairly well for taking macro shots. Hope you don't mind me chiming in Jandre :)

Jandre!!! Man, plants are looking amazing!!! fully trichomed out, matter of fact I think I saw a mini ski lift being assembled on those snow capped peaks!! haha Love the journal so far and really can't believe what a difference between the Intelligent Gro's and the HPS....amazing difference!!!

Rep for a mighty fine journal!!!

Nah, this thing had a macro setting. My Micro, I use an actual USB microscope.

HEY! Thanks for the kudos, and the rep! hehehe, "mini ski lift". Watch out for the Sherpa on your way down! MASSIVE difference...
