Jack the Ripper Bush Grow

whats good BSB!!!
your doing a great job!!! I am going to be flowering my GDP in about a week with CFL!!! I wish I could afford a HPS or even have the space for it!!!
Your plant is looking so good!!! and those roots look very healthy!!! your on your way bro!!!

:peacetwo:

Yeah man cool. I reckon cfl's are good if you use them right. I get great bud using the big 250w cfls, 6700k for veg 2700k for flower, works great. I like them as they dont use much electric and if your only growing a couple they're perfect, plus you dont have heat problems and can put the bulb a couple of inches from the plant. I would love to use HID bulbs myself but cost and space makes it not worth it for me at the min.
Good luck on getting that job bro, looking foward to watching your girl grow.:peace:

Thanks man! Good luck with your GDP, I will have to stop by your journal later and check it out. I'm curious to see how you do yield wise because I would like to try and flower with CFL's sometime and see how much I can get.

Ya those big CFL's are cool I just hate how expensive they are. In the long run I guess they are worth it considering how little energy they use. I will have to check out your grows and see how those big CFL's do. The fact that you can have them so close is awesome, I love having my T5 and CFL's so close and not having to worry about burn and heat issues.

:welcome: come on over brotha!!! I am doing the flip on the 5th!!! so in 2 days!!! she has gotten to be 15 inches tall now, so it is time, I only have 5 ft clearance and I don't know how much she will stretch being CFL!!! So I am going to play it safe!! I don't want to supercrop during flowering!!! But yea, come on over bro!!!

:peac2:

Apparently cannabis does more stretch under the red flowering CFL than the blue veg CFL's which keeps them shorter with closer nodes. That what I read but you switch to red on 12/12 when the stretch occurs anyway so not too sure. But the blue defo keeps nodes length short which makes for more bud sites.

Yeah man got my Journal going now flowering with CFL, check it out if you like bro. peace.:peace:

THE HELL YA SAY!!! LOL!!! really... thanks for the info bro!!! I mean its not my journal, but, its informative for me for sure!!! I read somewhere that you have to keep some blue in there for the leaves to keep their green color!!! I am going to have 3 6500 and 5 2700 all at 26w each!!! making 208w!!!

That's some good info to know. Sounds like if your at 15" and only have 5' now is definitely the time.

I don't mind at all, any time some good information is in the post. Sounds like you'll have a bunch of light to get some good nugs.

Easy Blueskybsn, yeah thanks for checking out my journal, flowering time!! Yeah man will be watching yours all the way and helping if I can. Looks nice and healthy at the min, gonna be a nice plant I reckon.

Hey Astonr! Yeah man you got the setup perfect there. I forgot to mention it's not all about just using blue for veg and red for flower, its best to mimic the sun the best you can and use both lights. 70% blue for veg and 30% red. Visa versa for flower.

another interesting fact to know!!! I was thinking of keeping it on the 80/20 ratio but I guess the ration that I ended up with is going to work just fine!!!

That was something that I noticed when I grew out my Afgoo outdoors just this last season!!! when they go into flower they didn't really do a stretch at all!!! they just gradually grew up!!!

Thanks my man. Looks like I am going to get this little temporary job that runs from the 6th to the 22nd so I can make some quick cash and buy my 400 W HPS. For odor control I have an ONA bucket I made from a previous grow that worked pretty well but I think with this extra cash I will buy a small carbon filter and some kind of fan. I'm not really too familiar with carbon filters and the size needed for a small 2'x4' grow tent but I will probably go with the size next up from the smallest unless someone has better ideas. All my vent holes on my tent are 6" so I will probably have to go with a 6" fan unless I want to rig something up which I really don't.

Right before you guys started talking about the ratio of red to blue CFL's for vegging I actually ran up and bought two 3000K red lights for my T5 and put them in, than read you guys talking about it and laughed. So I have 2 red and 2 blue in my T5 and than 4 23 W blue CFL's around the side.

So I went out and get my 400 W HPS today and I am stoked! Got it all installed and it looks great, I bet the plant will love it. I started flowering yesterday, plant is around 8". Since I will be so limited on height I figured I would start the flowering. Jack the Ripper is supposedly a 49-56 day flowering strain so that is pretty sweet, no long ass wait for harvest. Here are some pictures below of the light, plant, and ona bucket. I will get the carbon filter sometime in the future. After the initial top I did a while ago, I fimmed like 5 or 6 different tops and they are starting to grow out like crazy so she should be quite bushy.

Hey bro, personally, I would lower that light some to about 10-14" away from the plant, make sure you have some air movement around your baby too, I keep my hps lights at about 10" above the top, you just have to adjust your hangars as it grows

I'm runnin 2 400 watters in a growzilla hood, if u check my current grow out, you can see I keep my t5 about 1" away in the veg area and my hood in the flower tent at about 10-14" , but like I said man, its a personal preference kinda thing, but if you put your hand under your light and start under the bulb going down to the top of your plants you can see where the light starts to lose its intensity

Right on I checked it out, looks real good. I lowered it to 12" and the plants seem to love it. All the leaves are reaching up for the light and look great. It has actually grown 1/2" since I measured it last night.

So after some thought I decided to tie down the plant since I am going to be needing every vertical inch I got. My tent is 5' (60") with my light and hangers attached they total 12" add another 12" for the distance from the plant and that leaves me with 36" take off another 14" for my bucket and that only leaves me with with 22" so seeing as it was like 9.5" today, I tied it down which should help a ton. Heres some pics of plant before and after tiedown. Also heres a couple pictures of some problem leaves, any ideas on the problem or cause?

Easy man. May be burns that mate seen as you just put in a HPS lamp and moved it down. My indoor did that when I moved it outdoor because it wasn't used to the sun. Test the light heat with the back of your hand at plant height to see if its hot on your hands. If it is move it up a bit.
My outdoor pulled through green again after initial shock so should be fine just keep an eye on it getting worse.

Na can't be a heat issue those leaves have been like that for over 2 weeks. I just got the HPS yesterday.
