ItsNatural's 1st Grow - Mars LED 192x5 Reflector - Mars 3x3x6 Tent

UPDATE
33 Days from seed 19 Days in Veg
Current Temp 79f
Current RH 39

I fed the girls today the nutes I had mixed in the bucket yesterday. Each took about a Gal a piece. I got a few of my tools in. :) I got my 100 gal air pump and another air stone. I also got a gas tapper for after the screen is down and I cant move the plants. I can pump the run off out.
Talking about the run off. I have been reading and Iv read in several places that people with Fab pots can let them sit in the run off. And the soil will suck up the remaining run off over time. Something like 20 mins or so. SO! As much as it kills me to do it. I am going to try this out. Only problem Is I cant go back in 20 mins to check because as usual. I fed right before lights out. And I dont want to disturb them during their sleep. Hopefully it will suck it back up. And this will be beneficial. Better fed plants. But it could go the other way and screw my roots up. Iv always heard not to let them sit in the run off. IDK. Any thought?
I also decided to give them a good bath with a spray bottle. ( LOL I wanted to say I gave them a good Foalier spray. But as you can see. I cant spell Foalier. Not even close enough for spell check)
Anyway I sprayed all plants down real good with just plain tap that has sat out for 24 hrs. I mainly did it for bathing reasons. Wash any dust, dirt, or EJ residue off. I did it as the lights went out. I didnt want to have all that water on it under the bright LED. We've all seen spots where water drops have sat and acted like a magnify glass and burned a spot or 2 on out pretty leaves when left in light. I have had outside plants do the same in the sun. Im not sure how much it effects the plant but I dont want to find out. Im trying to be as safe as possible. I also turned the fan up to increase air circulation. I dont want mold to start or anything. Hopefully the increased air circulation with the small fan will dry up most of the water. The ladies are pretty bushy thick. It really is like a jungle in those pots. So I worry about mold.
Does anyone think I should defoliate a little. To open it up for air and light. Or just keep tucking?
Here are some pics of my tools I took last night. I didnt take any of the plants today. Sorry. Ill get it morro or tonight. :)
20160226_141507.jpg

This pump is very quiet. Really no louder than the 10 gal pump I had of the same. It has 2 outlets
20160226_210239.jpg

So I hooked both air stones up and am going to just use both of them. WHY NOT? Look at them nute bubble. :)
20160226_210245.jpg

It also has 3 suction cups so I can make it stick to the bottom of the bucket. Something no one really tells you when your reading up on the subject is how the airstone doesnt really want to stay where you put it. lol these suction cups should take care of that.
Well thats it for now. Ill take some pics tonight. till then
Happy Growings

UPDATE!!
34 days from seed 20 In Veg
Current temp 81f
Current RH 41
I turned the Humidifier back on.

I turned the bloom on. Now Veg and Bloom are both on.

Everything seems to be going ok. Plants are really bushy. SHOULD I DEFOLIATE A LITTLE? So far I have just been tucking leaves here and there to allow light to certain parts of the plant. Like the tops. But it seems to mess with the leaves a little. They look healthy but alot end up twisted here and there. It might not affect the plant but I wouldnt think it was good for it. So should I
A. Let them grow without manipulation other than the screen.
B. continue tucking leaves, allow the tops to start filling in the screen
C. Defoliate a little. Like some big fan leaves.
D. Defoliate alot. Most big fan leaves.

I know Heavy Defoliation is a controversial method. And I really have no intentions on doing it. At least not on this first grow. But It seems it would be useful to Defoliate a few big fan leaves to allow more light and air within the plant. I could do another session of LST. Tie all the tops down again. But I should have the parts for my screen in by Mon or Tues. And will be starting it. I figure I got another week of veg before I make the switch. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Here are some pictures.

As for letting the pots sit in the run off. I allowed all 4 pots to sit in the run off. When I went back after 6 hours. (lights were off had to wait) 2 had completely wicked up the run off. 1 had just a smidgen of water left. And 1 still had a large amount. Hopefully it wont bother the plant. As this was a 1 time thing. I may leave a smidgen left in the saucer for it to wick back up. But never alot. I will drain most run off out. And leave just a little to save time and energy, and also allow the plant to receive all it wants.
Thats it for now. Please give me your thoughts and wisdom. Until next time.
Happy Growings.

Well I think I made My first MAJOR MISTAKE!!! Im not really sure what it is. Im guessing some sort of Nute burn. But I thought I was hard to burn plants with organics. And I dont think I used enough of anything to burn them. But Maybe I just use too much stuff all together. Its hard to tell because every thing I see on EJ is different. Bottle says use tbsp and Iv used 2 tsp last feed. It also say feed every watering. IDK Maybe it was the Microblast. One place says only use it twice in veg and one place says they use it every feeding. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. Should I flush? I dont want to flush unless I really have to. Not till the end anyway. I want to keep a good town of microbes in the soil. here are some pics. ANY info is appreciated.

OK so I was busy today. First. I watered the girls with about a Gallon and a half of plain tap water. I didnt want to flush them completely. And Im not sure it would work anyway growing organically. But I wanted to give them more than I normally would so I settled on and extra half Gal. Things are still slightly getting worse. More and more leaves Have the burn. But it isnt overwhelming yet. Here are some pics.

As you can see by the last blurry picture, They arent overwhelmed yet, but It takes longer for organics to play out. (from what I read)
So while they are still looking ok right now. They might already be screwed. IDK. I have put this in the help me forum here but only 1 person has responded. Thanks to him by the way. I do appreciated it and I hope he is right.

Today I built my SCREEN. :cheertwo::party::yahoo:

I made it 3x3 and 15 inches tall. I put the holes 3 inches apart. Here are some pictures of my process
I started with some 3/4 inch PVC pipe
20160302_105234.jpg

Cut 4, 3ft sections. And 4 15in section for legs.
20160302_110741.jpg

Caps for the feet

then placed in tent. Lights were off by this time so I just left it. But I need to cut the legs down about 3 or 4 inches. I might do it tonight.

Well until next time. :peacetwo:

Sweet scrog screen. Very simple design, I need to make me one of those.

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Thanks. Took me a couple hours total but none of it was hard. Just hard on the back. All the bending over. I need a workbench or something. LOL. Im glad to get it in. I really would have liked to have gotten it in about a week ago really but this will work.

Ok. So I cut the legs down 3 1/2 inches. It could have went down another inch but this will work. Next grow I will lower it another inch and put it in earlier. Im still waiting around to see whats going to happen with the girls. Im not sure what is wrong so Its hard for me to fix. Nute lockout, Nute burn, Maybe its from letting them wick up the run off. That is very possible I guess. Maybe its from letting them get too dry in between feedings. I was feeding about every 6 days. Nothing in between. Maybe from not giving them straight water between feedings. I dont know. All I know to do is wait and see if its gonna get worse. Next feeding I will go back to very small doses. And start water feed water schedule. I havent really gotten a whole lot of feedback on my problem so I guess its just up to me to learn from experience.
On a brighter side. I got a present yesterday. I got some LED Glasses to help me see better in my tent. And take better pictures. I have to hold my phone to the glasses a certain way or it still shows a little purple. but you can see from 1 picture if I hold it right on, it fixes the color better. As far as me seeing thru them. They work really well. Which is good. Now I can see what they are actually looking like for the most part. because most LED lights are different, its hard to get them perfect. So I read anyway. Here are some pics of my scrog thru the glasses and a pic of my glasses.

Ok stoners. Thats about all I got for now. I plan to make the switch in a few days. Im trying to let it stay in veg til this problem goes away. Anyway
:peacetwo:

Hey man, plants are looking great, wish I could help with the problem. I'm still very uneducated on diseases and problems which is why I stick to exactly what has worked for me. After I feel like I've done enough grows then I'll venture outside my current bubble, lol. Nice glasses though, I definitely need to get me a pair of those. Also, great looking screen!

OK so here is my plan so I dont forget.
I am going to fix up my nute mix tonight, after lights come on. I was going to give another shot of straight water next but I am going to switch to flower Monday. And I want to make sure I have some bloom nutes in there for it. I still havent decided on giving 1/2 tsp or 1 tsp of bloom and grow. I was up to 2 tsp of grow when they got burnt. But it could have been the run off. Anyway
So mix nutes tonight.
Feed Monday before lights out.
Keep lights out from Mon 1 PM --Tues 10 AM
From there I will run lights from 10 AM - 10 PM
And continue with a feed water feed schedule like I had intended. Maybe add some HI-BRIX to my plain water.
I might not have my screen full enough. But I will have to get a couple of grows under my belt to get a better feel for that.
I will take some pics tonight and post and update later. Till then
Happy Growings

The screen looks great, nice job. I definitely wanna give it a go myself maybe on my next flip. If those Lemons are like mine, and they probably are because we got the same packs from Greenhouse, then you will see them take off and stretch upwards 2/3 weeks into 12/12 with the added red from those reflectors. Mine started out kinda short and bushier, now they are tall and skinny. But super strong so far, they just kinda gently wave in the breeze all day and have very sturdy stems. The upward stretch is letting lots of light penetrate. Good stuff man, you pretty much are doing i am and then some haha. Gonna keep an eye on your journal. :thumb:

Thanks for stopping in. The more eyes and thoughts the better. As far as doing what you are and then some. Idk about that. :passitleft:
You got things going pretty good over there. And a nice variety too. But thanks for the eyes and the complement. How long have you been in flower?

Update time.
40 Days from Seed...Almost 4 weeks Veg time.
Current Temp 78
Current RH 60

I mixed my nutes. Mix went as follows

1tsp GROW
1tsp BLOOM
1tsp CATALYST
1/4tsp CAL MAG

I hope its not too high. And I hope its Im doing the right thing by giving it some bloom right before I make the switch. AHH Only time will tell I guess.
I also raised the light to 32 inches. It was about 30 or 31 i forget. But its 32 now. The leaves are showing signs of heat stress. Im pretty sure it was just the light being down too low.
Anyway. Here is some pics

And last is a picture of My PH levels after I mixed Earth Juice. I tested my water plain and its about 7 After EJ you can see its about 4 or lower. I will check again after 24 hrs and then again before I use to see if it goes up any.

Until next time

Wow that's a low ph to work with, maybe that was the cause of the burn? To me it did look like heat stress, if you sprayed any of the plants with anything that could cause it. I made that mistake and one of my girls did not like it. Raising the lights should help, if you could try get another clip on fan the extra air will keep your plants cool.

Good Luck with the flip! I wonder how much your little beasts will stretch. :thumb:

Im just not sure whether it was PH, too much nutes, leaving in run off, or what. As far as the ph goes. Its just so confusing. I think I would have been better off sticking to my original plan of using the Fox Farm line. Then It would be as simple as checking the ph after I mix the nutes and BAM. But with the Earth Juice line. Everything I have read says that it will naturally have a low ph, bubbling helps raise it a little, (as well as condition nutes) but, from what I read, It doesnt matter that the ph is low because organics feed the microbes, and the microbes then feed the plant, and between that process the PH difference is dealt with. But if that is the case for sure. Then why do Earth Juice make a ph up and ph down. For when you give it plain water? IDK. But I have read several Places where a person will see the low ph, add ph plus to get it to desired ph, and then end up with ph problems because his PH the soil Ph ends up too high. SO CONFUSING.
Fan wise. I agree. I have been thinking about it for a week or so now. Im thinking of putting one over top the canopy and one below the screen, blowing thru the undercarriage. I thought about getting one of those Honey well double fans. It was one I was debating on when I settled for the clip fan I have. Xenon has one in his but I think he had some problems with it so I may just stick with another clip fan. I also thought about getting a circulating tower fan. But No where to put it.:hmmmm: I would like to do a SOG one of these days. If I ever do. THEN I will most def get a tower fan.
UPDATE.
Not much. I raised the light again. now its at about 33-34" from top of canopy. I say 33-34 not because I dont know but because it is different in different spots, PLUS im not very good at reading a tape measure. LOL Basically I raise it another 6 clicks. For anyone that uses rope hangers, you know what Im talking about. How high above do you other LED users Have yours? And Is it true that after flower you can lower it a little?
Other than that there is nothing else. Just same o same o. Tucking twice a day. Trying to figure out which route Im going to send each cola. I may run out of room. But its exciting. :yahoo:
I also checked the PH of my nutes today. Its still really low at around 4. But its only been 12 hours. I am going to let it buble or about 36 or so. I will check before I feed, but will feed the ladies regardless of what the PH says. But it will be nice to know. I will also test the PH of the Run off to see where my soil is at. Until then
Happy Growings.

Those glasses help a lot with the color of the pics, everything looks like its coming along very nicely. From what I see, I think that screen will fill in very well with the stretch. I'm actually kinda worried about how full mine is already and I'm just switching to flowering. I was just thinking about moving my light up because of some discoloration on the leaves, it's sitting at 25" right now.
