i really appreciate you stopping by. i need all the help i can get. maybe that will keep me from f'n everything up.

NL
Type : Indica
Effect: a combination of stoned and high
THC content: 15-20%
Flowering time: 7-8 weeks
Height of the plant: 100-125 cm 125 centimeters = 49.2125984 in
ph: 5.7-6.3

- i have (4) northern light fem seeds that came from royal queen seeds. i used dr chronic seedbank...fast delivery...discreet and well packaged.

- planted nl femseed 1-8-09

- i'm going to veg for 4 weeks and flower for 8.

- growing in closet. (2) 35gal bins = 9 cubic feet. (4) 42 watt cfls. 4 inch cooling fan.

- i have 10,800 lumens with 4.455 sq ft = 2,424 lumens sq ft. Color Temperature 2700 K

- temp stays 76-82

- right now i'm using mg organic soil. in 3qt pots...then will transfer to 3 gal pots. if i have no problems with this soil i will use it for the bigger pots. if not i will use this mix i found in the forums:
45% Miracle-Gro® Sphagnum Peat Moss
30% Worm Castings
25% perlite
Powdered Dolomite Lime (2tbls per gallon of medium)

- will try foliar feeding starting at wk 2 with very low doses of Dutchmaster follitech grow and pentrator. then use follitech flower up to wk 4 of flower.

- 3gal trash bins are 11.875" x 8.5" ... i'm going to lst...maybe i can grow @ 40" around the bin and have room for about 16" verticle growth.

- everything has been caulked and weatherstripped

now for the pics...

mg organic choice potting mix
50-55% composted bark, sphagnum peat moss, pasteurized poultry litter.

0.10-0.05-0.05

got that off the bag

what can go wrong with using 3qt pots at start? i'm new to this.

From what I know the roots spread out too much. I usually start out with solo cups and then go from there. 3.5" pots also work well for sprouts. ;-) I know there is a thread on this subject with a ton more info on this, but I couldn't find it. Sorry.

the end of week one...i think i may have a problem...the little round baby leaves are yellow. i read somewhere that it's not a big deal...but isn't it a lil early.

they haven't seemed to grow much lately...maybe root production that i can't see?

also i changed my lights from 2700k to 6500k...so now i have 12,800 lumens with 4.455 sq ft = 2,873 lumens sq ft at 6500k.

i always check the soil before watering and all that jazz...ph is at 7 so the nutrient uptake should be fine.

here's some pics ...bad ones at that.

PH way too high. get it down to 6.3 or so. Nothing any higher.

wow this is great, i will be following this....

Im using almost the same soil as you, But im using Miracle-Gro® Sphagnum Peat Moss, with no time release nutes. And this would be great to follow cuz you're starting out earley. I only Veg for 2 weeks. (idk how long ima flower yet tho, maybe the same as you)

Also im liking the clean and simple setup man, i wish i had something like that. (But i have to use what i had)

Those yellow leaves are fine, they will drop anyway sooner or later.

If you wanted, you could of did a mixture in light spectrum since u have a even number of 4.

2-REDS
2-BLUES
(Just my 2 cents)

Keep it up tho, ur doing good.

ok...but i just watered yesterday. so is it ok to wait till next water to bring it down? if i try to do it now could i harm them?

thanks everybody...i appreciate the support. erk..i was thinking about the lighting...but i may wait. i used some y adapters in the bulb sockets so i could put 8 26w 6500k.

Watering plants from different source supply around our beautiful universe will produce many various spectrums of PH levels. The yellow starter round leaves will fall off. How far are the lights from the top of the plants?

also...i was gonna add some lemon juice to the water to bring ph down. is this ok to do?

Would not advise that. For the next week just water with straight
H2O. Let the water sit out 24 hours to dissipate chlorine.

Although I had never really believed it up until my current grow, starting in a smaller pot will help your plants grow faster. It seems that they build more roots before they build any green plant matter. So the bigger the pot the more roots grow before the plant does. Last grow I put a clone straight into a 5 gal. bucket and it took 2-3 weeks before I saw any real growth. This time around I put a clone in a solo cup and have been seeing growth daily. just some food for thought on your next time out.

i figured something like that was going on...and it makes sense. this could delay me a week or two right? oh well, no big deal. next time i'll stay in cups longer. thanks.
