I am encouraging you to only remove enough of the fan leaf that shades the neighbouring bud sites, not to trim all the fan leaves on each top between each segment of the bud.
You just have to remove the pollen sacks. Seeds require at least 30 days after pollination to mature. Seeds can easily be taken from the buds when you have dried and cured your buds. Unsulfered molasses can be added at a rate of 1 tablespoon per gallon to any soil or soiless grow. I purchased my unsulfered molasses at a bulk food store.
KJC, THANK YOU + REPS . . . . . . . . . FOR YOUR TIME
The inline fan is located outside of the cabinet and is pulling air through the carbon filter and through the cooltube.
OK WHERE DOES THE AIR GO?
OUTSIDE TO THE "STREET"/OUT THE WINDOW?
I"M PULLING AIR FROM THE WINDOW AND COOLING THE LAMP BUT THE FAN IS OUTSIDE OF THE TENT. SO IT GOES (AIR FROM THE WINDOW TO THE COOLTUBE AND THEN OUT OFF THE TENT. MY BUDDY DON'T HAVE A FILTER YET AND HIS GOING TO BUY THE FILTER THAT WE HAVE. WE TOOK SOME PICTURES OF THE TENT SET UP. I'LL SEND TO YOU WHEN I GET THEM.
THIS IS #4's CLONE AFTER 6 DAYS INTO THE FLOWER CYCLE. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW THE SEX AND IT'S MALE.
Linda IS ON THE FIRST OR SECOND DAY INTO THE 8th WEEK OF FLOWERING. MORE THE 40%-50% OF THE CANNABIS TRICHOMES ARE REDDISH, BROWNDISH OR AMBER IN COLORS. ON THE 28th Linda WILL COM PLEAT 60 DAYS. MY CUZ TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD HARVEST THE BUD THAT IS MATURE ENOUGH TO BE HARVESTED BECAUSE I HAVE A HERMIE AND BY WAITING LONGER I'M ALLOWING POLLING SACKS TO MATURE. SO MY BUD IS IN DANGER OF BEING POLLINATED. I UNDERSTAND WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE I HAVE SEEDS WHERE I DIDN'T A FEW DAYS AGO.
KJC MY QUESTION TO YOU IS : HOW CAN I HARVEST THE COLAS THAT ARE MATURE?
IF I FLUSH WILL THE REST OF THE PLANT WILL BE HURT?
IF I DO NOT FLUSH WILL THE QUALITY OF THE MED BE AT JEOPARDY? BEAD TAEST, BAD SMELL AND BAD EFFECTS?
KJC CAN I USE MOLASSES WITH EVERY FEEDING AND CAN I USE MOLASSES IN MY RESERVOIR?
The pistils are the wispy white threads that protrude from the buds and turn shades or orange to red to brown when the plants mature. The trichomes are the globe stalked glands where most of the cannabinoids are present not the pistils.
Several forum members for their first harvests do partial harvests on their plants by only removing the more mature branches from the plant then for their second harvest they allow the plant to flower longer and harvest the remaining plants. I have not harvested a plant in partial harvests before due to the timing of flushing the plants for partial harvests. I would definitely flush your plants before harvest or partial harvests. You can always taste a bud from a plant that has not been flushed before harvest. Molasses should not be used in hydroponic or aeroponic reservoirs due to the bacterial bloom that occurs in the reservoir.
Here are some photographs of trichomes to show you, they range from clear to cloudy to amber as the trichomes mature.
The pistils are the brownish, reddish and amber colour appearing hairs that protrude from the buds as the plant matures not trichomes. I have posted photographs of trichomes for you to see in my last personal message.
Green morning KJC
How can I use molasses with the croutons "grow cube"?
The heisenberg's original tea recipe, that TheCapn uses calls for molasses, I've only used it once and I removed the plant from the bucket that holds the water that drains back to the reservoir.
KJC I's molasses only use as a carbohydrate during flowering?
KJC when you use Humboldt County's Own Snow Storm Ultra Bloom Stacker for foliar feeding do you spray before light on or before lights off?
Thank you for your reply to the previous personal messages. . . . .
I would only use molasses in the Heisenberg Tea with a hydroponic or aeroponic system. I would not add molasses to a reservoir by itself for hydroponic or aeroponic systems. Depending on who manufacturers the molasses its nutritional makeup can vary. Molasses also supplies many nutrients in vegetative growth and in flowering. I prefer to foliar spray the Snow Storm Ultra in the lights on period so I may see where I am spraying to get even coverage.
Thank you...KJC
I almost added molasses to my vegetative nutrients/reservoir.
KJC do you foliar spray at the beginning of the lights on period or towards the end?
Since the spray can act like a magnifying glass and the can burn the bud site?
When I mix up the Snow Storm Ultra as a foliar spray I use 1.25 millilitres per quart or litre of Snow Storm Ultra, or 5 millilitres = 1 teaspoon per gallon of Snow Storm Ultra as the strongest strength spray I would use. As soon as I see trichomes developing on the leaves I begin foliar spraying with Snow Storm Ultra 1x per week in flowering.
Green Greetings KJC
I removed a few small branches that was starting to get seedy. How long should I let them dry upside down? Do I need to put them in a Mason Jar?
KJC what's the lowest acceptable temperature during the lights off period in Flower?
I use disposable vinyl gloves and when I harvest a plant I start by cutting the branches off 1 by 1. I take the branch and first strip off all the fan leaves. I then use a pair of Fiskars Micro Tip Pruning scissors and trim all the sugar leaves flush with the bud. I then take the trimmed branches and place them in my drying rack to dry for 5-7 days or until the buds just break off the stems. I then trim off the buds from the stems and place the buds into storage containers. I take the buds out of the storage containers and place into a large bowl for 10 minutes per day for 10 days.
My drying rack
Fiskars Softouch Micro-Tip Pruning Snip recommended by the arthritis society, They come with a lifetime replacement warranty. One of the handles broke on my last pair, I used the warranty claim on the website and Fiskars replaced them at no cost.
You want your finished drying at 62% humidity for your buds. I purchased several small Digital Temperature Hygrometer that I use to place in the storage containers so I may easily check on the humidity level in the containers.
The lowest you want your indoor temperature to lower to is 65° Fahrenheit for your plants without severely slowing the plants growth.
You want 70°-90° Fahrenheit and 50%-70% humidity for vegetative growth and 30%-50% humidity for flowering. Your plant appears to have gone too dry between waterings and has suffered damage.
Green Afternoon KJC
I haven't been online like i use to and not exchanging Ideas with You has Hurt My Grow/ Slowed My Learning!!!!
This is Linda 4 days into week 9
All the bud on the plant seems to be dry. I didn't water Linda for 2 days. I usually water with 1 gallon every other day, so I misses 2 days and i watered with 2 gallons and everything was ok, I got about a liter of runoff. It's been a little hot, I have some ventilation I'll show you later. So I let 1 day go by to allowed the soil to dry a little bit and then I watered again. I got about a liter of runoff when I used 1 gallon and the fan leaves where turning yellowish. The bud was still moist now the bud feels like I've already dried them and they look smaller. I don't know if I had the light to close or if there wasn't enough humidity in the room.
KJC what should my humidity be during flower with lights on?
How low/high should I keep the humidity during the lights off period of the 12/12 cycle?
I was trying to get a good picture of the trichomes
If all you want to do is sex your clones then you can place the clones under 12/12 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness as soon as they are rooted.
KJC, I believe that the sooner a Grower now the sex of the plant the better of the garden is!!!!
I want to know how long/soon after the cuttings root may I put the clones in the 12/12 cycle just so that I may know the sex of the plants that I have?
THANK YOU KJC + REPS . . . . . . FOR MAKING THE TIME TO REPLY
You should work your plants branches through the screen. I would defoliate everything that is bellow your screen. I can tell how dense with vegetation your plants is, you will have to remove many small branches to open up your plant to the light.
KJC IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO TO MAKE THE BUD MOIST????
I KEEP WATERING Linda AND I GET RUNOFF, BUT THE BUD IS REALLY DRY!!
I'M WONDERING IF I MESSED UP WITH "THE ULTRA SNOW SPRAY" I USE IT 10-15 MINS BEFORE THE LIGHTS OFF PERIOD ON 5-25-14 AND EVERYTHING WAS OK, THE NEXT FEW DAYS AFTER THE SPRAY Linda LOOKED GOOD!!!!
KJC I THINK THAT YOUR RIGHT, BETWEEN THE HOT WEATHER, POOR VENTILATION + "THE SUPER LUMEN" AND UNDER WATERING ALL HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE DRYNESS THAT IS Linda!!!
KJC IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO???
I believe that watering Linda is the most that you can do for your plant to recover. I do not know how dry the stems are, the withered fan leaves will not recover. I say give your plant several days to recover and see what happens. If the bud is not smokable since the plant has not been flushed at worst you could make hashish or cannabis oil or cannabis butter.
I have a portable washing machine similar to the Bubble Magic 5 Gallon Mini Washing Machine that I put the trimmings in a mesh bag and place inside the washing machine, I then fill the washing machine with cold water and ice cubes and set it for 2 cycles. I then place my 5 Gallon All Mesh five Bubble bags inside of a 5 gallon pail then drain the washing machine through its discharge hose into the bucket. I then remove each bag one at a time as I drain the liquid from the bag. The trichomes are gathered in the bottom of the bags and are removed in different grades and pressed in a pressing screen to remove excess water. I then take my Large Piranha Aluminum Pollen T-Press and press the hashish into convenient sized disks.
I'M GOING TO ADJUST THE PH OF PLAIN WATER TO 6.5 BEFORE I WATER TO Linda TO GET CLEAR RUNOFF. MY CUZ ALREADY SAY THAT THE PLANT LOOKS DEAD, HE SAY " IT LOOKS AS IF YOU ALREADY DONE DRIED IT!!!! NO NEED TO EVEN HANG IT TO DRY!!!!
CUZ IS A GROWER. . . . THE STEMS ARE FLEXIBLE, SOME MORE TEN OTHERS.
THANK YOU KJC
I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT Linda's CONTAINER A (13 GALLONS TRASH BIN)>>>>
KJC IF THE PLANT IS DEAD AND I DON'T FLUSH OR IF IT'S TO LATE TO FLUSH
OR IF THE PLANT DIDN'T TAKE THE FLUSH FOR WHATEVER REASON:
WILL/CAN THE BUD MAKE ME/YOU SICK BECAUSE THE NUTRIENTS WASN'T WASHED OFF WITH A FLUSH?
OR IS IT THAT THE HARSH CHEMICALS TASTE???
CAN I DO A BUD WASH?
there are several reasons why it is less desirable to smoke buds that have not been flushed
1) harsh chemical taste to the buds
2) does not burn well. Cracks, pops when burned and is difficult to keep lit
3) difficult to smoke, harsh on the lungs and throat
I am not aware of any other reasons why non flushed buds could not be smoked.
When a plant is harvest flushed the process removes nutrients from the medium, can removes nutrients from the plant through the roots and the plant utilizes stored energy reserves in the fan leaves. I do not believe that washing the buds will remove any un flushed nutrients from within the buds. If the buds are too harsh to smoke then you can always make cannabis butter, cannabis oil, a tincture or hashish from the buds. My first grow ended with my buds not being flushed, I was disappointed in the results and desperate for pain relief and had a great deal of difficulty smoking the buds. The important thing is to give your plant Linda time to recover if it is possible and if it is not possible then to have options and still have a harvest.
My first grow ended with my buds not being flushed, I was disappointed in the results and desperate for pain relief and had a great deal of difficulty smoking the buds. WOW YOU JUST MADE ME STRONGER!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT WITH ME!!!!!!
MY OLD LADY AND I TRIED TO SMOKE SOME A FEW NIGHTS AGO AND YES IT DID CRACK,SNAPPED AND POPPED. . . .
I MESSED UP BY TAKING TO MANY FAN LEAVES OFF... LAST NIGHT I USED (ADVANCED NUTRIENTS FINAL PHASE CLEARING AND FLUSHING SOLUTION) THERE IS A FEW SMALL GREEN FAN LEAVES THAT ARE STILL GROWING IN MY OPINION.
I'LL TAKE A FEW PICTURES LATER WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON + I'LL SEND YOU PICTURES OF MY OTHER PLANT "SIETE" MY BUDDY AND I STARTED REMOVING EVERYTHING UNDER THE NET. I MEAN WE REMOVED 50 LITTLE BRANCHES + A FEW BIG BRANCHES AND I THINK WE NEED TO REMOVE MORE!!!!
LAST NIGHT THE FLOWER ROOM's HUMIDITY WAS 65% BUT UNDER THE LIGHT THE HUMIDITY WAS 40% AND THE BUD WASN'T AS DRY AS THE NIGHT BEFORE. DON'T GET ME WRONG THE BUD IS STILL DRY JUST NOT AS DRY.
I AM TRYING TO FLUSH, I JUST DON'T WANT TO OVER WATER.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR FIRST GROW EXPERIENCE WITH ME!!!!!!
KJC AS ALWAYS THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. . . . .
POST BY KJC
You are welcome! Now you know I have been there myself. Have you thought of ways to prevent this from happening in the future yet?
YES, I GOT A 14,000 BTU PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER + A WALL FAN AND I HAVE ALL MY PLANTS FEEDING WITH A TIMER, EXCEPT MY CUTTINGS AND FRESHLY ROOTED CLONES. . . . .
I AM WORKING ON THAT.....
For the last 4 days I've used the flushing solution: Thursday 2 gallons, Friday 2 gallons, Saturday 4 gallons Sunday 6 gallons.
I'm using a 13 gallon trash bin, a flush is using double the gallons of water that the container.
13 gallon trash bin needs 26 gallon of water to flush?
Do I have to use all 26 gallons of water in one day?
Can i use the flushing solution just with the first 13 gallons and then use plain water that's adjusted to 6.5 ph?
I would use the flushing solution for the total volume of 6.5 pH adjuster water you use to flush your plant. I would flush the plant all on the same day then allow the medium to dry again.
Yes that is the same 30x jewelers loupe. I also own the same Carson 60-100 microscope. I use a "25X-200X Magnifier USB Digital Microscope Video Camera Endoscope High Speed DSP" I purchased online for $28.
