Is this plant hermie?

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

I don't mean to bug ya with all the chat. But you just seem to know whats up :) And me (not) lol. I mean you told me right where to find that sack :). Congrats on the "Member of the month" Man. I am fairly new to this site and don't know my way around as far as voting and sponsors and such. But I do value your input highly (not to diss anyone else). It is certainly good to know you.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

You are most welcome Pinky2213! I was helped so much by others on this site when I first joined, that it's nice to repay the kindness.
I am fairly new to growing myself, so when you get into areas I can't speak comfortably about I try to find someone who I know can.
Watching and communicating with other members' here is a great learning tool!

Oh, and for voting...you can either click the link in my signature or go to the tab at the top of the page that says "420 Lounge" and then click on 420 contests.
That will show you the current and past contests. Hope that helps! :thumb:

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

looks like you got seeds is there a window open to the outside? maybe another plant tha hermed or a male hiding somewhere?

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

Hi, pinky, sorry about the hermie.

I see you're looking for tips on a good strain and I just had to pipe up and pitch one that really impresses me. It's White Panther by Ceres Seeds. I've grown 15 strains in the past year and this one is a real winner. It's easy to grow - bushy with strong stems - and it produces hard heavy buds with a very strong buzz. I got 3 oz out of a 2 foot plant, for instance. :cheesygrinsmiley: The high is sativa dominant with a great lemon diesel taste - real old school - great stuff!

Check it out. :thumb:

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

Well, I'm sure gonna check it out. That sounds great graytail!

Cool! It also doesn't need heavy nutes - stays green through flower, and clones like a dream. I'm on my third generation now.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

Thank you Graytail. That sounds good I am a big sativa fan any way. Do you know what the thc/cbd levels are on it by chance?

I doubt it has much CBD, and I'd estimate typical THC up around 20% - depends on how well it's grown, of course. It's one of my more potent strains. Its main attraction is its straight-ahead stoniness. If there was a dictionary of highs, under marijuana there'd be a picture of White Panther. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I think it was Crawdaddy? that grew one and loved it, too.

[Edit] Of course, I also recommend Jamaican Dream, if you've read my journal, lol.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

Thank you DN. I am about 3 weeks from harvest. So I just removed the one and dosed it with ph'd water and molasses and locked it on the dark for 48 hrs. :) I will just keep a "close eye" on the others and see what happens....
the way it works - each grain of pollen can only pollenate one pisil. only the buds that got a whiff of the pollen will produce seeds, and only that much.

you have 2 choices - grow all plants out, expect seeds - no big deal if this is personal use right? This is your choice if you are far along into flower and near harvest. You can remove the one hermi plant, the rest may have been infected with some pollen - not all buds will be seeded.

The other choice is to quickly remove all the plants and start over - if it is vital you have 100% seedless.

Seeds are a pain in the ass, but the medicine is still there. You can make all ice water hash from the crop. It depends what the purpose of the crop is - for medical use/sale - it should be seedless. If its personal use - then its not that big of a deal.

What caused the hermi? This must be fixed.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

hey pinky

I believe the plant will make more potent resin - because now it has to protect its seeds from predators. The problem is - you have less smoking material - a 1 gram bud with seeds, is likely about 1/3 in seeds and not useable.

I have pulled plants as early as 4 weeks into flower, visible trichromes. The plant will still get you high when you dry it out, its just airy buds.

The knowledge of processing buds - BHO, ice water, dry ice - helps save the day - you can process seeded buds with no issues.

Going to shit on Dank Seeds - I brought seeds from Attitude Seeds bank about 2 years ago. Dank seeds is the breeder of the seeds, so they get the blame. Non feminized Ghost Train Haze - I properly sexed them - got rid of the males. In the fourth week of flower - I got the same suprise you did - found the male sac popped out of a female looking calyx under the bud, it even had trichromes on the outside of the calyx - but out pops this full male pollen sac just like the photo above.

I learned - even quality seeds - can have a few hermis - depending on the breeding tactics of the breeder. These were $100 seeds, so I shit on thee Dank seeds.

It was not my grow room - the plants were grown in two separate locations, two separate rooms. Both were just 14" and vegging when distributed.

(lesson learned - label the clones from your new plants, even if you know they are female - I could not determine which clones were from the bad females, and I tossed them. I grow for medical use and can not deal with seeded buds.) I should have indicated "clone, GTH, female #2) - then I could have known which clone was from the females that hermied.)
