Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

bottom pic is of no use.

the top two pics show SEEDED, so look at the branch above it, it likely has male pollen sacs UNDER the buds.

Male sacs that form on female plants form under the bud, from the joints of the stem. they are distinct because the male pollen sac is not a part of the female bud growing.

your full sacs look like they are seeds getting ready to pop, you can cut one of them open now and see if there is a solid mass in it. The pollen had to come from above.

seeded plants do not pollenate other buds, only male sacs do. You can keep the seeded buds for smoking, make ice water hash.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

Thanks DN on close inspection I did find a pollen sack popped open :( ! F***... That likely means all my plants are pollinated right? I have 7 plants in a 5x5 space with fans. Sorry about the last pic I was trying a close up .

this is the pollen sack right? :(

And should I just go ahead and chop this one? I really have no where to grow it away from the others

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

If you look closely on the leaves in that last picture, you see some fine dust on them. The ones lower on the left. That looks like pollen to me. And on the purplish branch just to the lower right of the open pollen sac. :Namaste:

I would certainly remove that plant from the others immediately. :thumb:

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

the way it works - each grain of pollen can only pollenate one pisil. only the buds that got a whiff of the pollen will produce seeds, and only that much.

you have 2 choices - grow all plants out, expect seeds - no big deal if this is personal use right? This is your choice if you are far along into flower and near harvest. You can remove the one hermi plant, the rest may have been infected with some pollen - not all buds will be seeded.

The other choice is to quickly remove all the plants and start over - if it is vital you have 100% seedless.

Seeds are a pain in the ass, but the medicine is still there. You can make all ice water hash from the crop. It depends what the purpose of the crop is - for medical use/sale - it should be seedless. If its personal use - then its not that big of a deal.

What caused the hermi? This must be fixed.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

FYI - if you are near harvest - you can try to keep the hermi under control - pinch off the male sacs to reduce the amount of pollen it will release into the room.

after the harvest, clean the room. Check for light leakage.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

thanks cannafan I removed it and looked pretty close at the others and didn't find anything "YET" . That kinda thing discourages me. But they were just bag seeds, I guess I should invest in some genetics if I do another grow huh?

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

As stated by the other Michigander here, you need to figure out what caused the Hermie too.
Did you have interruptions in light schedule? Temperature issues or humidity issues that may have caused stress to the plants?
Lights leaks, as mentioned, can be an issue. You must have a light proof area so when your flowering lights go off, it's completely dark.
Any ideas on what happened?

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

well I think he hit it on the nail - its bag seeds. The cartel shoves all the plants into your stash, including the ones that hermi'ed. Seeds from a hermi - will almost always be a hermi plant.

The key is reliable genetics from a trusted source.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

yea DN It is personal use. and I guess my main concern with the seeds is once the female pollinates don't doesn't she stop producing resin? And wont the hermie trait be passed from the plant to the seeds thus making them unusable without the possibility of growing hermies again?QUOTE=DigitalNomad;2013888]the way it works - each grain of pollen can only pollenate one pisil. only the buds that got a whiff of the pollen will produce seeds, and only that much.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

I did have a light issue like three days ago . I was working in the room and I accidently switched one of my lights off the timer and they went for 7 hours b4 I caught it so they got 21 hrs instead of 12 that day(and I am still kicking my ass).

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

Well, I'm not sure that one time on the lights would have done it. I"ve made the mistake myself, got lucky with no trouble. I'm not saying it's impossible.
I think the bagseed thing is more on the money.
And yes, if the plant has hermie traits...most likely any seeds from that plant would possibly produce hermies. You wouldn't want to have a great grow going and then one "take a chance" plant wind up ruining the whole thing. Better to get rid of the problem.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

Thanks Cannafan. I am going to harvest "it" lol. And my next grow I am going to have "Good Genitics" and a Lab Coat ! lol. I hate this part of the learning curve lol

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

I would like to pick your brain if I may (just a little) :). And ask you what strains you have grown and if you have a favorite. I guess I am looking for what everyone else is looking for "quantity of yeld + the best possibly quality" :420: I have been looking around a little and there are sooooo many choices and of course they are ALL the best one ;)

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

I have grown personally only two strains, working on a cross that I did.
White Widow and Master Kush, and I crossed those two. White Widow is the favorite. They were Nirvana seeds.
I'm not much help on that right now. LOL
I have a couple of other strains in progress, but have not harvested yet. And I have just ordered some seeds.
:-)

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

that's wild out of the two that I have been looking seriously at were the Critical Kush and the White widow lol. I guess there is my sign ;) And I am going to invest in a 600 watt adjustable HID. I used a mix this time I started out vegging with a 6 tube t5 and they did pretty good ( I thought) they seemed to grow like a half in a day. then when I switched to 12/12 and needed more light for the 7 plants I frankensteined my set up and now have a 100 watt hid,my t5's as well as 4 CFL's LOL. But from what I am reading HID is the way to go.

Re: Is this plant "hermie"?

That is a coincidence. White Widow was fairly easy to grow for a first timer. And the smoke is really nice....and the edibles too. LOL

I just purchased a 600W hps/hid and the difference in flowering from using CFL's on the first grow is awesome. You will love that new light.
