InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Hey Shed :ciao: I remember you saying that grape seed oil is great because it is a good carrier oil and that it could also be used in capsules, right? Is there a type of grape seed oil I need to look for? Or will any old brand do?

I'm going to jump in and try to answer this, but if (when) I mess it up Shed can correct us all. Grape seed oil is great for topicals because it absorbs into the skin quickly. I wouldn't think that it would be good for capsules because it is likely to leak, making a mess eventually. For capsules I'd recommend coconut oil because it's mostly solid at temps below 75F (24C). Either refined (no taste) or unrefined (coconut taste) should be ok.
As far as type of grape seed oil... I have no clue. :Namaste:

Hey Shed, just been catching up on your grow, nice collection mate.
Lol. Its funny you say about plant numbers..... Hehe.
Im always like... 2-3 Mums... Maybe 6 in Flower in the tent...MAX!
Reality...... 8 in Flower....9 Mums-spares.

If your passionate about it you have to have at least 3-4 strains going... Just for the variety....its just how it is....
I have tried just one strain, I miss the variety...

A few months ago my wife even mentioned she wanted to get another dog now because of how devastated she's going to be when we lose her.
When my dogs start showing their age I usually get them a puppy. My older dogs seem to get a little extra spring in their step. It also makes training a puppy a lot easier if they have a good dog to learn from. Sometimes they pick up little quirks or mannerisms of the other dog.
It might be a bit of self preservation as well. I feel less like I'm try to fill an empty space later on with another puppy. And they are there for me and the family when that day does finally come....the day that I want to hug a dog the most.

I guess I'm with your lovely wife on this one. So glad your pup is doing better. :green_heart:

I'll chime in

I use nothing but grape seed oil, topicals and capsules

The coconut doesn't last long enough for me without turning bad, and hate it getting into a glob in the fridge....lol

Never an issue with messy grape seed oil, ever

That’s great Joe, but I‘m not sure I know why you’re tagging me there? :hmmmm: I didn’t ask anything about grape seed oil ;)
I apologize I thought you asked my bad Amy . Must be this fine flower over here my bad

Well there you have it. I knew somebody would set me straight :thumb:

I do this. The puppies always overlap the older dogs. Bringing a puppy into a house that smells of dog and does not have a dog present is not really a good thing for them. And people wonder why having a puppy sucks. Dumb people.

Why is the smell "not really a good thing for them?"

I'm concerned about them because, like the three I flowered this winter, the pistils are going brown but they don't seem to be bulking up. Maybe I'm just paranoid after the larf I got, but they're looking like plants much older than 5 weeks in terms of the pistils. I'm wondering if I should go back to adding Big Bloom.

Anyway, that's it for me!

Shed I had that happen when my led lights were too close.

Because there is no adult mature dog for them to associate with the smell.

I would be scared all night if I heard or saw something was there but never actually encountered it. I get the keep the pup with something of mom's, that may or may not help....I am on the fence.

It can also lead them early not to have respect for other animal's territory.

That’s interesting about the dogs. My Aussie shepherd friends and that scenario and its worked really well. The younger one arrived about 2-3years before the older one died and while he was still very active - in full health. The younger was skittish and pretty misbehavey and mellowed quite a bit during that time. I know a pup will do this anyway as it grows but thehumans were sure teh younger was ‘learning to be a good dog’ from the older one - who was super special. It makes a lot of sense...

Shed - get a new dog now! Let them be friends for a while

In my coursework I was revising today - Mel Frank told us that the stigmas only have a life cycle of about 4weeks so there will always be dried ones from a little way into flower. :) I’m sure they’re fine.

I've had dogs my whole life. Never brought a puppy to a house that had a dog in it before. Well not until recently. Sam, my Lhasa Apso, lived to be about 15. I waited too long before I had him put down, makes me sad to think about his last few months, but he was still around when Maverick got here. They were the same size for a minute, and before you knew Mav had people crossing the street to get out of our way. He's a good dog, but he's a GSD, hollywood is awesome... Charlie came home a few years later and she's definitely a puppy, and still, at 2 years, agro. She's getting better though and training does go much faster with Mav showing her how to sit, stay, etc.

I do use a clicker and once you get them on that, bam 5 minutes, new trick!

As Chris mentioned below and @Derbybud has said as well, grapeseed oil for one-stop infusion will work fine. There are some advantages to EVOO in terms of bioavailability on a molecular level (or something over my head), but grapeseed works as well, and a lot simpler to make it all in one go.

Reality is right Low! I'm trying to offload a few next weekend, because the seedlings are going to need new homes soon.
Hey Shed! Just out making my rounds! I hope you and the family are well and from the looks of it the garden is rockin! Keep doin what your doing my friend and I’m glad to be back!
Welcome back Mrs and Mr Dutch! Looked like you both had a great time :)
When my dogs start showing their age I usually get them a puppy.
My dog does not get along with most other dogs. I wouldn't inflict another dog on her in her own home!
So glad your pup is doing better.
Thank you VG.
Looking good in the shed, Shed.
Thanks B!

You and Derby both...good recommends. :thanks: Chris!

Top to bottom or just the ones closest to the lights?

Not if I can help it. She definitely doesn't want another dog and neither do I or the kids. Only my wife, and that's only to distract her from her potential grief.

Oh thanks Amy! I would feel better if it was still putting out new ones though.

---------------------------------------------------

What a weekend! My apologies for being offline again but it looks like it may be a regular weekend thing now. My time is getting tighter and tighter on Saturdays and Sundays now for some reason. Anyway, here is the Monday update.

Not a lot happened plant-wise the past two days and the sun was hardly around at all, so everyone was tucked under their respective LEDs, which makes documenting a lot more difficult. I'm not all that bothered about the vegging ones, but I would prefer the Candidas to be in the sun, if it were only out.

Speaking of Candidas, one of the supercrops I did a few weeks into flower broke from the weight of the buds (a cautionary tale), so I took it off and tossed in the skin-salve pot (@Heavenly Hybrid...still cooking, so pic tutorial to follow this week).

The Super Lemon Haze seed never made it up, so I dug it out to do a seedopsy on it. Doesn't look like the stem was strong enough to push its way to daylight:

I topped and thinned the Berry Bomb clone from @Agemon:

Trained it out a bit:

And put the cuttings into soil, along with some cuttings from the Peyote Critical top:

As I mentioned above, I'm trying to offload plants, so next weekend I'll be handing off four Bedroom Cookies 2.2.x plants as well as the Peyote Critical top to a local inactive member who loves indicas! I've still got more indicas than I need now.

I started the skin-salve-making process on Saturday morning and still have it cooking this morning. Based on the way the next few days look I probably won't have the tutorial up until Thursday. But the process is under way!

We spent about 5 hours at the vet ER yesterday with our dog, who's problem may not have been a kidney infection at all (though it seems she coincidentally did have one). The new diagnosis is possible compression/degradation of a couple of cervical vertebrae. She's now on a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, a muscle relaxant, and a pain killer, and she seems to be feeling better. Or not feeling anything at all! The neck x-rays were inconclusive and only an MRI would tell us what is really going on with her. But the Dr recommended a more conservative approach to see how she does after a week of rest and meds. News as it happens, and thanks for your continued kind thoughts.

That's what I've got. It's been an exhausting weekend and I've got a bit of a cold on top of everything, so I'm moving a bit more slowy than usual. Apologies in advance. :Namaste:
