InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Hey Shedder, I couldn’t read it all cause I was about 20 pages behind, but I did get the recent review done at least. Oof, sorry about the dry leaf finish, it looks veeery familiar, almost thought I was looking at my Wizard (plus many others before her) for a sec! Ruby already looks dynamite after her trim and the others will too. 💗

I know you’ve resigned yourself to not really growing indoors, but I did want to ask - did you consider turning the lights off during mid day? (for the spraying) I usually do that in winter months, then the temps may not get down to the 60’s? Unless that’s the temp mid day too inside? Anyhow, it’s personal preference of course, but I never had much success with 24/7 lit autos.

Looking forward to some smoke reports, I think I have a seed for one or two of those strains! 😁

Really quick update today.

First is that I cut the Ruby Tuesday auto harvest off the lines last night as it was getting pretty dry in the box (upper 50% range). I put them all in a turkey bag and left it open outside on a table for an hour (where the RH was 87%). This morning when I burped the bag it was at 61%, so that's nice! Pics of the bag another time.

Pic today is of the Queen G auto 2 top that was cut from the plant 45 days ago and is well into flower:

You want to see a classic potassium deficiency, that's it. ↑↑↑ Still no roots, but now instead of sitting in water it's sitting in MC, because why not? :)

For reference, this is what it looked like when I cut it.

Lastly, I drive under the I-10 freeway on my way home every night, and there are homeless people who set up various temporary structures for privacy and warmth under there. Every couple of weeks the police move them out along with their stuff, and the process starts again. But this time there was something different which caught my eye but it seemed a bit small for someone to sleep in, certainly compared to the tarp structure further on.

Anyway, that's it for me today. I hope your Valentine's Day went well and everyone had their fill of chocolate.

Hard to say but there is a pretty big difference , still plenty of buds !
And it got my wife high, so that's a start...thanks sb!
Beautiful garden.
Thank you Keith!
Lights on, lights off. Hairy leaves, maybe yes, maybe no. I like the old way of waiting for lights out I think. There is some gray area there from what I read.
Yellow, brown, green, and now gray? Definitely don't want any gray area. :cheesygrinsmiley:

If I grow in a tent again next winter I'll either put a heater in the room to come on during lights off, or try to schedule off-time for when we have the heat on most evenings.

Thanks double H! I was happy to see it trim up so nicely...quite a relief after seeing it in the tent. #phewf

The thing about my house is when the heat is off in the winter, it's about 62-64º inside. We just wear sweats! It doesn't warm up at all during the day and we only have the heat on in the evening from dinner to bedtime, so that would have to be the lights out period if I don't use a heater in the room. If I do another tent grow next winter, evenings would definitely be the time to run 4 hours off (like 7-11pm).

Whichever ones you grow, you'll undoubtedly have better looking plants and a much better smoke report!

Glad the drying is under control & a better smoke report, Huh thats pretty cool that the cutting is living with no roots & lets see what it dpes with the nutes maybe one big bud

It's doing way better than I expected after 45 days in plain water, with all that growth as well as a flower on top and two on the node below. There are some tiny white spots down at the bottom of the stem that I noticed about 3 or 4 days ago but it's too early to tell if those are rootlets. Thanks con!
:thanks:

Sorry I'm so late, but congrats on the RT harvest !

What, you're out of bloom nutes? :)

Something that might help to keep it warmer is a 24"x24" seedling mat- it will keep the root zone nice and warm, no matter the ambient temp, plus it adds apx. 2 degrees of heat to the tent, which is seldom a bad thing @ lights out..
Mine is on 24/7 - maintains the root zone at 78f- seems a bit warm, but the plants sure like it..

huh?

You want warmer overnight? Dunno the plant - taking landraces Malawi and Thailand as examples overnight temps remain stable overnight but Rh spikes.

Pakistan and Afghanistan regions (called Kush, various) the temp and Rh drop overnight.

If you grow in a weird bit of the world as far as the plant developed maybe in an outhouse where you’re relying on the lights for warmth its helpful but I think that someone using the search engine of their choice found that and thought they wanted warmer overnight it would be unhelpful. It is totally contrary to the environments the plant originates from.

You want warmer overnight?
Actually, I just want a few degrees above "too damn cold"🥶
When you're growing in a 50f garage, 2 degrees isn't much, but it's something...

I get you totally. I just think that it needs clarification. My garage open to the air was 32c and Rh 85% last night. I spend a lot of time trying to think like a plant as to what I can get away with utilising the least amount of electricity!

Sorry I'm so late, but congrats on the RT harvest !
Thanks Carcass, I'll take it any time!
What, you're out of bloom nutes?
LOL actually I put in veg nutes since those were handy, because yes, at that moment I was out of bloom nutes. :)

If I had a 2x2 mat I just might do that, though it might be harder to keep a 2x4x6 tent warmer than your cardboard insulated box. I'll file that away for next winter (in case I'm growing then...notice I keep adding that qualifier? ;) ).
You want warmer overnight?
Not warmer than daytime, warmer than ambient. This ain't Thailand!

This! 65º is the minimum for happy roots.

Warming plants is the opposite of what you need to do. Let us know when your open garage dips under 60º. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Likely humankind will no longer exist - even its flooded by sea levels rising a drop from 80F to 60 sea temps in the tropics would mean the planet would be inhabitable for humans.

So lets hope there’s no need for that!

Since the Ruby Tuesday auto harvest came out of the drying box so close to 62% it didn't take long to get it there, so for a Friday update, here's the final weight on the RTa:

That's 118g or 4.16oz, which works out to 1.4g/day. I have no idea if that's good for autos in a tent not grown by VG, LKA, Boo, or Jon, but if it had lived a longer and healthier life I'm sure it would have been better. Either way I'm happy with it!

I'm still burping twice a day and it won't get sealed up for curing until March 1st, but at least we don't have to wait to find out what the number was.

In other news, I took a bunch of trich pics of the Queen Q auto and the QGa2, so I'll drop a too many of each here.

QGa2, 46 days since pistils:

That's it for me, and I hope your weekend is shaping up to be a good one!

That is wild that the clone is growing that good/at all with No roots , never seen that before on any plant !
I know right? What I thought were root buds don't look like them to me on closer inspection, but I don't know what they actually are!

nice haul of buds, nothing wrong with 4oz

Double my best Auto effort and won’t have done too much harm to your ERA!

The white fluff at the bottom?

Read some stuff on Reddit consensus leans to a bacterial pathogen not using clear glass containers is raised then disputed by everyone as it probably would be here because “but we always use glass”

I wondered with no basis in knowledge, nor anything I can find online (😅) could it be leach from the stem fluids?

The way I'm living now, I'm happy to be harvesting more per day than I'm consuming... which is at least 1g per day currently... so your yield would support me anyway.

Odd white spots
IKR?

Not a thing wrong with 4oz. Thanks con!
Congrats on 4+ new ounces!
Thank you GDB, and the + makes it even more exciting!

I've seen folks root in glass on a windowsill (GDB e.g.), and this stem gets rinsed every morning, as does the glass, and then fresh water. I'm sure if I left it for a few days it would rot. I wouldn't normally go clear but I also don't normally save auto tops!
4 Oz is respectable. 🍋
Thanks Keith, respectable for the win. :high-five:

I might have asked before but is there a reason you don't grow photos? You're more likely to hit a Xg/day target when you can control how big they get before flower.
