InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Monday update and a belated Father's Day to all the dads here, and all who have dads they love, with us or gone.

It's been a busy few days so I haven't been on the site much, but I thought I should post the latest here on day 49 while I find out what I missed everywhere else.

Since the Summer grow has gotten too big to fit in a 2' deep tent, I fired up the Oval of Brightness® in the tent:

That's a light I designed to fit the space using Samsung strips and a Meanwell driver (build info here).

A good friend of mine here did all the milling at his CNC shop so all I had to do was put it together with the strips I bought and wire it up. Perpetual thanks @Derbybud!

Here they are in the tent at night:

I did a serious defol on the Grandpa's Moonshine and a less serious one on the 5 Killer Cookies. Here are a couple of the fans that came off GM:

And here it is this morning in the drizzle that is often our mornings now:

It's been pretty droopy since the defoliation (defol, not defoil!) on Friday. In contrast, here is the 5 Killer Cookies still chugging away:

To be fair I didn't strip as much off this as the GM, but I've never had a plant droop after thinning so I don't know why the GM is unhappy. Either way the 5KC is already getting too wide for the Oval, so once the lowest node grows up one more level I'm thinking it will be flip time.

That's it for me. I hope your weekend went well and was spent with folks you enjoy! :)

The oval looks awesome as well as the plants

Looking good Shed and nice oval! Really cool you built your own light sounds like a lot of fun and of course a adventure! Hope your Father’s Day went well!

Thanks TC! That build was a while ago now but it's a nice soft even 3000K light and the plants seem to dig it. You're double the father now so you must have had a doubly good time yesterday! :)
Yes sir it was a lot of fun thank you! My son helped me setup the new tent and I chilled with my daughter a lot.

These are Beautifull and healthy. They are great to look at.

The GM , with those deep ridges in the upper leaves, sort of has an overwatered look....
but, can that even happen in a SIP or a SWICK?

The 5KC is just plain awesome!

Thanks Carcass! You think maybe that because it came from a top-watered pot into the SIP that this is part of the roots' transition to being sub-irrigated? The upcan was three weeks ago. :hmmmm:
Flagstones yea, a word with far more gravitas than mere “tiles” and the more prosaic “patio slabs” of my English suburban upbringing!
With the artificial turf as dividers - just an angle I’d not seen I guess!
Nick
Oh gotcha! The flagstone path breaks up the turf rather than the other way around. :)

My memory is failing or selective! Recognise the fabric pots. Saw them on YT last week
What’s your touchy/feely on the (SWICK/SIP) v. your normal grows so far? Still early grow obviously.
I can't really speak to the SIP since I moved from 1g top-water to 5g SIP, and also I'm running new varieties so there's not much to compare to (I believe this is the first GM grown!), but I can tell you that the SWICK seems like faster growth and fatter branches definitely filled with water!

I'll get a better pic of the 5KC when it's not drizzling and line it up some pics of my cloth-pot plants around the same age, for comparison's sake.

That seems like too long ago for it to just show up now...maybe she really didn't like the defol?
Although, I've never had one show any reaction to clipping off a bunch of leaves..except to grow a bunch of replacements...
I'm not sure how it would matter, but how much air gap does that one have?
The one I just "upgraded" would plug up occasionally, and I'd lose the air gap for 4 or 5 hours, which made the plant go a little droopy, but that would go away when the air gap was restored...that one only had a half inch gap, so it didn't take much to overfill it..so I started tipping it to dump a little out through the drain after I filled it, just to make sure there was room for some air in there..
I should have about an inch gap in the "new" one...

I think there's at an inch clear for the air gap based on the pics I took during the build:

It definitely sloshes out if you bump schlep it when it's full so I think that part is working. I can let it run lower than I have been if you think that will help. I've been refilling it when there's about 1.5" of water left. I'm hoping it just sorts itself out within a few days. :hmmmm:

That looks like you'd have plenty of gap there-
I can let it run lower than I have been if you think that will help.
I always kept mine topped off, so I don't know that answer, but It sure wouldn't hurt to try it!

I thought 💭 I remebered you had a diy setup for growing. It seems to be doing a great job 👏. Looking mighty fine there Shedster. CL🍀 :thumb: :bravo::welldone::adore::high-five:
