In The Lab

What....I was under the impression that the leaf stomata take an hour or so to open AFTER the lights have been on! WTF...I read this years ago....is that wrong?

My understanding is the stomata open during the day and close at night.

I have also read they can also be affected by a variety of other stimuli: the intensity of the light, the concentration of CO2, and the humidity.

You might have noticed that about 15 minutes prior to lights on the plants are perky and upright.....that's when the stomata open. They're also open an hour after the lights come on too, but they open in anticipation as well.

This is especially true outdoors.

Calling all DBHBB growers, I'm looking for a UK or EU supplier of EWC suitable for use with the kit. After a week on the popular search engine I came up with just 2 options, 1 isn't suitable and I can't find any information about the other, nor does the producer return emails.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hmm in EU most producers don't put NPK on the label unfortunately. You're gonna have to call customer service or drop them a line to get that kind of info.

I've found a couple of small scale suppliers locally but they don't know the npk numbers. They did, however tell me what they feed there worms. One had a diet primarily of potato peelings and the other feeds his a cereal based diet. I think with Potatoes being high in potassium, the woom poop will be too but im not sure about the cereals.

Maybe try Plagron, they'll sure rispond to your queries. There are Italian brands that you can get on Amazon too, but I don't know the numbers.

I've emailed plagron 3 times in the last 10 days without reply. Might have to pick up the phone and make an international call. Any chance you can pm a link for me, they don't come up when I search?

Yep I'm gonna do that.

Just thought I'd update all here, I got an email back from plagron this morning....

Hí ********,

Thank you for your question.

Our Mega Worm doesn't contain potassium.

Our Supermix (NPK 1-2-0) and Bat Guano (NPK 3-15-4) do.

Let me know if we can help you with anything else.

Looks like I have access to everything I need.

Good to know they came back to you. I heard it was low potassium, but if it just contains trace amount it's gonna be perfect for you :thumb:

Question for you guys. My ultimate purple are in tiny 1 gallon pots while I pick a pheno. Added 1/2 oz Of cat drench which was about 2ml per gallon of soil. A few days later it was browning like this. Any tips to improve it? Is it due to to much cat drench? Should I skip second cat drench? Thanks

1 gallon pots. that's your problem. In the directions, I recommend no smaller than 7 gallons. You cooked your roots with the Cat Drench and the containers are too small by a factor of 7......

"""The Kit:

The End User will need the following:

3.8 cu ft bale of ProMix HP myco, or Sunshine #4 or Promix BX myco. Perlite can be added to the BX in order increase porosity for indoor growing.

20-40 pounds of organic worm castings that show an NPK of zero K. (1-1-0)

A proper growing environment, basic gardening skills, 7 gallon pots and a sprayer capable of putting out a fine spray."""

I have found that all drenches can be mixed heavy without ill effects. The CAT drench though, I shoot for 1 ml per gallon of soil.

Talking about drenches, the OG drench is not needed with the new formula of drenches correct? Just putting feelers out to make a great grow even better and looking for ideas. Everything is healthy, happy, and packing on the resin so I don't know if there is really anything we could do to make it better lol.

I don't think we need the OG drench anymore....unless a stain that likes it on the cool side is grown in a hot, dry environment and needs a little boost of K. But as far as the salt-lovers go, the new formulas should have it under control....as you are seeing in your garden.
