Icemud's Organic SCROG! Grow 3.0

I have a Blue Dream I just took 3 cuttings from. These are my first BD's. So far I really like the strain, both growing and smoking.

What about some SFVOG? I hear it's pretty popular North of my location.

I'm definitely keeping my eye's open for Blue dream, I love everything about the strain, the smell, the taste, the looks, the high...its by far my favorite smoke :) SFV OG is a dank strain, but it would be hard to find someone with the pure genetics, but would definitely be a prize if I found one. :) I would love to try to get the silverback og again since my last one failed on me due to thrips, but not sure if its still available. so many choices :)

Today I started to clean up my tent...its 100 Degrees at the beach today where I live and 85 in my apartment with all the shades closed and fans on.... didn't manage to get it all done but I still had the brown and dead silverback og in there as I left it a few weeks ago when I shut off my lights... to my surprise some of the buds benieth the brown dead were still green and had some trichomes. I think I may save it for some hash makings and see what happens... :)

I pulled out my screens and dissasembled them for storage and dumped out the remaining 2 smartpots of dirt...definitely had a very strong root base on these plants as they penetrated the smartpots on the bottom and spiderwebbed across the bottoms.. :)

I swept up all the leaves and loose dirt on the base of the tent and will most likely wash it out on a cooler day....I'm sweating like a pig! lol

Definitely am glad that I don't have plants going on a day like today, I would be in a world of panic seeking a way to cool them down, even though I would love to have more plants going anyhow...lol :)

I am reading up on soils and trying to decide how I am going to approach my next high brix grow... since my plants were rating really high last grow in the soil mixture I created, I may go with a similar blend, but still deciding on what to do.

Stay tuned everyone for grow #4 :)

Haven't posted on any of your threads but read through all three of them. I must say amazing job! Your journals have been very educational and entertaining as well. I'm currently on my first grow with soil. I'm basically learning as I go, so far going well with the exception of nute burn on one plant. But after seeing the Waxey glossy shine on your girls I'm seriously considering trying this Brix thing my next grow, or at least try to go organic. Just seems like so much little factors, kinda overwhelming... Any particular articles worth while looking into other then the ones you've already posted? Btw why do you always start with clones? You've defiantly got the knowledge to grow from seeds (if I can, then any one could) and then maybe take your own clones. Reps!

Hey everyone, man, working 2 jobs leaves me with little time for anything else.... I apologize to everyone for not being around much lately....

So the good news...

I finally got the last part of my prize package from July's Motm contest which was the all natural CO2 by our sponsor TNB!!!! I was really excited to receive these products and can't wait to test them out on my next grow. The bottles are much bigger than I expected, probably about the size of 2 liter bottles and it says to mix with warm water and let them produce CO2!!! I am excited to get my next grow going and use all these awesome gifts from the 420 magazine sponsors!!!!

Also, I am still working out what type of soil I will be using on my next grow. I know that High Brix growing should start with a soil test but since I am way behind schedule, I think I may go with the same soils I used last time *(FFOF and happy frog) since my results with the refractometer where higher than any other cannabis online that I have found... :)

I place my order on Amazon today for all of the soil amendments needed, and got a few extras for my special high brix blend...
I ordered:
more calcium carbonate
2 boxes of Dr. Earth soft rock phosphate
1 bag of azomite :)
1 bag of glacial rock dust
1 bag of dried, water soluable humic acid (seems to be used in a lot of high brix amendments)
1 bag of dried and powdered molasses (will be lightly added to my soil, mostly for use with my teas)

The last things I need to purchase before I mix my soil will be my soil mediums (probably FFOF and Happy Frog). I also need to pick up worm casings with added volcanic rock and kelp meal. I also will be getting larger smartpots, I have size 4 now and may go with the next size or 2 up...

Well I will get my new journal going in the next week or 2, just wanted to put an update of my status for everyone :)

Nice Grow Icemud i just got done with it, sorry bout the thripes...But i seen your doing Glr i just had a couple questions..How would it work for a Cfl grow? and is there a certain timer for the lighting schedule i can purchase? if not how do i set it up?

Thanks for the compliments gittergreen!!! I hopefully will have the time to do some more video's on this next grow... I am thinking about doing one about my soil mixture but only time will tell :) Grow number 4 is just a few weeks away from starting :)

Hey Bimmer!! I am happy to have you around and I am really glad that my journal was able to help you learn some things :) I seem to learn more and more each time and if it wasn't for my grow journals here, I may forget things too :) lol I definitely would recommend going natural/organic and if you want to go high brix...DocBud is the godfather of HBX growing and his journals are stacked with all the high brix knowledge you will need :) As far as places to read about growing organic, here at 420 magazine is a great place to start, tons of amazing growers here that have shared knowledge and passion for all of us to learn :) Also you can check out the Organic section, under soil in the growers forums.. I think ?? lol I also check out a lot of commercial agricultural websites, college biology courses and gardening websites if I can't find the answers here :)

Glad to have ya aboard and my older journals have a lot of good info too.

So far I have only grown from clones, mostly because I found a pretty decent place to get them where they have some great genetics (some hard to get) and also growing from clone takes about 3 weeks off the cycle :) If I didn't have clones at easy access, then I would go from seed.. I do have a rather nice seedbank starting to form :)

good list..instead of chemicals for pest control..ever thought of using lady bugs ???

I actually have thought about it quite a few times, but my grow tent is rather small, and its in the room I sleep in, don't want those lil buggers getting out and freaking out any of the chicks that come over...lol definitely a consideration for future grows if I expand my growing area :)

hey KJJ ice is really busy with the new job,so i figured i would take this one, glr works fine with cfl, a standard timer from wally or homies will do fine, set it to 12 on 12 off but half way thru the dark time 5 1/2 hours in have the light come on for 1 hour useally 2 pins hope this helps

Hey Big Irish Doode!! Much appreciate the assist :) I've been working my butt off lately so I haven't been able to catch up on much lately so I appreciate you showin some luv and helpin a brotha out.. :) I will try to get over to your grow and check up on how things are growing/going :) I'm just about ready to get grow 4 underway, but still trying to decide on strains and soil that I am going to use... :)

@KJJ Big Irish answered that one perfect... CFL's will work fine, and digital timers work great for GLR, but a regular old cheap timer will do... :) sorry for not answering sooner, as BID mentioned I've been working a lot so my free time is minimal, but glad to have BID answer your question... Stay tuned because grow 4 is coming soon :)

Whew...I've been away a long time it feels like...sorry everyone :) but I have some exciting news...First off, as mentioned in my earlier post I received my TNB Naturals CO2 that was one of my prizes from our awesome sponsors, so I finally got around to taking some photos....These things look awesome :) Cant wait to get TNB in my tent :)

Now the 2nd good news... I am still searching for blue dream to grow on my next run but in case I can't find it, here are some of my options :) I am going to try to only run 3 strains, total of 6 plants but may even keep it to 2... I will be doing the V-Scrog again and usually stretchier plants like OG's do really well on the sides (4 of the 6) and the 2 middle positions are best for branchy stockier plants.. so usually that is part of what i decide to grow...

Here are my clone options right now..
Jupiter OG
OGeisle
King Louie OG
OG101
University Hills OG (I ran this one on my 1st grow and it was amazing, might consider her again)
Master Kush
Pre 98 Bubba
Sour D
Chocolope

So far out of that list I probably would go with the King louie og, ogeisel and the uv hills og but still haven't made my mind up yet, because I have hope in finding blue dream clones :)

Another surprise is that I received almost all of my new soil and compost tea additives that will be used in the next grow, the only thing I haven't received yet is my azomite.

So here is so far what is new and will be used on my next grow :)

Glacial Rock Dust (adds soil minerals and trace elements)

Got more Calcium Carbonate :)
IMG_20121002_201628.jpg

Some Dry molasses, going to use a little in my soil mixture but mostly for my teas, much cheaper than buying the bottles :)
IMG_20121002_201513.jpg

IMG_20121002_201527.jpg

Some powdered humic acid (also going to add a little to my soil but mostly going to be used for teas)
IMG_20121002_201558.jpg

Good Old Soft Rock Phosphate, I like this brand because it has added bennies :)

Well I still haven't decided on my base soil's yet. I want to keep it similar to last grow because my brix level's were so high, but I also kind of want to try the promix that DocBud is using, so I still have a little deciding to do, I also saw a few other soil types of interest but don't want to try too many new things. My focus will again be high brix, I will not be doing a soil test but will still be following the rest of the high brix method as closely as possible. I am leaning towards a similar but improvised mixture as last time, but will decide and finalize my decision with a new journal, and hopefully a soil mixing video :)
