Icemud's LED Grow With Advanced LED XTE 300 Series With EX-Veg 200

:hmmm:
I think that 4 of the DS 200 EX VEG would most likely veg your 5x5 very well. I have 2x of them in my 2.5x5'x7' tent running at 1/2 power and they are doing an excellent job in vegging my girls, so I think 4 would cover your 5x5 really well.

:icon_cool Thanks!

Thanks Again! I appreciate you taking the time. The Veg tent is all set!

Good thing I have a few weeks on this call. Now I have the CMH boys beating on me. "Less power, less heat, broader spectrum" (then tradition HID) geez... who knows....

Hope your feeling better soon!

I definitely couldn't argue that CMH is one of the best HID bulbs for growing.. the spectrum is near perfect. I would say if you did a LED/CMH combo... you probably would have amazing results. CMH was my preferred bulb for growing both veg and flowering before LED, and I still have all my HID ballasts and such for when I expand my grow area because I almost certainly would love to do a CMH/LED grow because I believe the combo would be probably the absolute best for cannabis :)

So..... using both in flower... or just Veg with them and then go CMH?

If both in flower, what do you think would be the best combo?

This could be a really good day! :yahoo:

Would be a heck of a combo! I don't think you can give a plant too much light, as long as it has enough water and nutrients to keep up with the increased photosynthesis and growth.

Alright... Here is the long awaited update.. :)

Day 69 of flowering...

Well I have some good news and not so good news.. As many of you know I went out of town for 5 days for the holidays... Was a very wonderful trip to see my family for Christmas but unfortunately was extremely sick with a 103F fever, so much of my break was hanging around the house recovering, but still was very worth being with family for the holidays :)

I watered the girls extremely well before leaving as I have done in the past, but I didn't take into consideration the dry weather and off shore breeze at this time of year which really drys out the air down to under 20% humidity. So when I returned all of my plants were bone dry and some very wilty.... the plant that took the hardest hit was my churchberry in which almost all the fan leaves turned yellow, wilted and died, and many of the fan leaves on the other plants were also destroyed..... but...

The good news.... I was planning on harvesting anyways this week, so even though the plants were very dry, it did not effect the buds at all, and they were still very plump, moist and healthy. :) As soon as I got home I doused the soil with water and epsom salts to help flush any remaining salts from the soil and possibly give a last ditch effort to more flavor :)

Yesterday I started trimming and cutting down the girls and the first to go was the purple urkle. This plant turned almost all purple on the buds and sugar leaves and was extremely dense nugs. Trichomes coated the buds on this plant and when I checked them with a lupe, the trichomes were cloudy :) After trimming I just did a 1 part wash using r/o water to help rinse any dust or sprays off, and then hung the buds to dry in my drying box.

Wow are my fingers sticky from this one, and the smell is very sweet, almost like the grape PEZ candies.. which were one of my favorite types of candy :)

Next to get harvested are going to be the Grandaddy Purple and the Girl Scout cookies which seem to be at the end of the line as far as growing. After these 3 dry then I will pull the remaining plants, but may leave the blue dream in for a little while longer because it seems that i still has some growing to do and probably can get fatter still.

Here are the photos of the harvest of the Purple Urkle.

Yea, for flowering rocking CMH and LED would be ideal in my opinion. :) for veg you could use either, but the Ex-VEg lights would do very well for just VEG only.

If you were using only 1 grow area for both, then I probably would recommend the XTE panels and CMH for full spectrum flowering :)

Nice to hear your plants did survive , worst case scenario (besides a rip off) would of been dried buds on the plant ready for harvest .. which I should try sometime. Never know the budz may get stickier or the flavor might get stronger as it certainly would stress the plant , to death..

I imagine you are now thinking about a drip irrigation system for vacations etc.

I followed the link , that does look convenient to use and the price is right , with the 20 drippers you could use 2 or 3 drippers per plant for even coverage.

I am currently making a watering / feed system , although it will be more of a flood the pot once every few days by pump , then a drip system.
I bought some 12v moisture sensors that will be in each container to trigger its individual mini 12v pump.
The total cost was close to the price of the store bought units but not nearly as simple to rig up.

Happy New Years Eve everyone!!!

Well last night I pulled my GDP and trimmed her up.. what a beautiful plant, with the buds showing purple and even some pink highlights. The smell definitely smells like the real deal GDP so I think I may have lucked out and gotten a good cut, but I still won't know for sure until they are dried, cured and smoked :) either way its some very nice looking nugs.

Well here are the photos of the GDP harvest.
